Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. 😇 Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. 📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. 📋 Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      ✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. 📬 Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
  7. 🏴‍☠️ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Canyonero! (Unexplained fires are matters for the courts)

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 36 points 2 months ago

12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of American Pride!

[–] Gork@sopuli.xyz 30 points 2 months ago

Smells like a steak and seats 35!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago

She blinds everybody with her super high beams! She's a squirrel-squashin', deer smackin' drivin' machine!

[–] csm10495@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

The federal highway commission has ruled the Canyonero unsafe for highway or city driving.

I am both horrorfied and delighted by this, thank you

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Stretching a 4:3 image to 16:9, IRL.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

I want to see that and the half-width Jeep (also owned by the same museum) driving down two lanes side by side.

[–] psoul@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Westside Customs in shambles for not coming up with it sooner

[–] aeiou@piefed.social 24 points 2 months ago

don't give them ideas

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Cars are wider because the bigger the area under the car the lower the fuel economy is allowed to be.

[–] mech@feddit.org 7 points 2 months ago

Which makes sense, if course

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 2 months ago

There's also the fact that all of the modern safety equipment takes up more space.

Don't forget the LED headlights that outshine kilonovas.

[–] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago

The big sad box is highly accurate.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I drive a Chevrolet Movie Theater.

[–] SillyDude@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I can't believe this was like 15 years ago. I also remember from the same time that I don't drink beer, I drink liquor.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fifteen? Interior Crocodile Alligator was 2007, back when ytmnd was relevant.

[–] StellarExtract@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

These ads really sold me on the concept of wide cars as a kid. Just look at it, it's so wide.90s Pontiac Grand Prix magazine ad

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They had to invent these wide cars so that people could transport their long eggs from the supermarket

[–] Drbreen@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Chickens like, the fuck? Why isn't this coming out?

[–] lime@feddit.nu 8 points 2 months ago (3 children)

the latest volvo is 1.98m wide. the underground garage at my last place had a 2.2m wide door which i once managed to clip in my chevy volt. i wonder if the auto-pilot or whatever is good enough to navigate that.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] lime@feddit.nu 3 points 2 months ago

wow that's... tight

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

shit i wonder if i'm good enough to navigate that. there's a reason i ride a bike (it's more fun)

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

EX90? And when the mirrors are extended, you're easily up to 2.1m wide. It's like they want to crash into stuff when driving in the city. Or "störst går först" mentality...

[–] lime@feddit.nu 2 points 2 months ago

no the ex60, the "smaller" one...

[–] speckofrust@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I’d love to know why anyone is downvoting this. Truly curious what’s to dislike here.

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 4 points 2 months ago

Probably strikes a nerve with some people.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 3 points 2 months ago

They don't like being called out

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I believe cats have been getting wider by an average of 5mm per year for the last few decades

[–] SalmiakDragon@feddit.nu 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Stop breeding w i d e cats

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] SalmiakDragon@feddit.nu 7 points 2 months ago

You'll bring ruin upon us all!

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Maybe ease up on the lasagne.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 6 points 2 months ago

When you think your copewagon proves that you really are the main character.

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Already happening in Texas.

[–] SillyDude@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I drive a vehicle that's 2.5m wide, 3.5m tall, and 11m long.

[–] mech@feddit.org 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sounds perfect to drop the kids off at school. Like, all of them.

[–] SillyDude@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I could hypothetically transport like 40 children depending on how you pack them, probably pretty easy because of how soft their bones are.

But I live in this thing so no trespassers.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

A bus from my childhood with very close dimensions is specced at fitting 110 adult people, eight per square meter. It was believed to possibly actually fit 200 at peak rush hour. Folks gave it a loving nickname ‘cattle wagon’.

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

They already have those. They call them jeeps.

[–] pancakes@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

That would look fierce parked diagonally 8 standard-sized parking stalls and 2 handicap stalls.

[–] ghost_rider69@thelemmy.club 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Down side: you're more likely to get hit by car due to bigger hotbox

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

The fact that you are driving halfway into oncoming trafic doesn't help
