He shouts to Patty, "Paper boy!!" As he gets ready to throw the paper, she shouts from her doorstep, "Fire away!"

He throws the paper and it falls apart.

As she stands on the pavement looking at the paper strewn all over, he walks off whistling.

"Hey, Violet!" Charlie Brown calls as he runs up to Violet, who sits in the sandbox, playing.

He leans against the side of the sandbox: "I saw something you might be interested in..." "Oh?" she asks

He sits on the ledge of the sandbox and asks, "Have you ever seen a dogcatcher?"

She replies, "Mercy, no! And if I eer did, I'm sure I'd be frightened to death!" "Don't you want to see one?" Charlie Brown asks, as he stands inside the sandbox.

"I don't know...Is there really one around here?" Charlie Brown climbs out of the sandbox: "Sure...C'mon with me..."

They run along. Charlie Brown says, "There's nothing to be scared of..."

"There, see? A dog-catcher!" Charlie Brown points. Shermy pitches a ball to Patty, who swings a bat. The ball is caught by Snoopy, wno sits behind the plate as catcher.

Violet stands in the field watching as Shermy and Patty walk down the lane smiling at each other.

Violet approaches Patty and Charlie Brown in the lane. She says, "Say, you're doing all right, Patty...this morning I saw you with Shermy, and now you're with Charlie Brown"

He stands looking at the reader as Patty replies, "Well, if nothing else, I'm learning to take the bad with the good!"

Charlie Brown walks along by hisself. He says, "Nobody loves me..."

Snoopy throws a ball and says, "Chase it! Bring it back!" Charlie Brown tiredly takes off after the ball.

Snoopy wakes up with a start as Charlie Brown approaches him with his wagon and exclaims, "Hey, Snoopy! Wake up!! I want you to pull me in this wagon!"

Violet sports a ponytail for the first time, also making this her first alternative hair change. Her hair style would alternate between her pigtails and ponytail until January 23, 1955 where her ponytail would become the mainstay

"Throw it in here! I'll hit it a mile!" Charlie Brown stands at bat. Patty crouches behind him as catcher.

"Let him hit it! We've got an airtight infield!" Violet urges Shermy. Snoopy sits on the ground next to her.

"A base hit!" Patty cries as 'pow,' Charlie Brown swings. The baseball knocks Shermy's (as pitcher) cap off before bouncing onto the ground in front of Violet. She misses it, but Snoopy catches it in his mouth.

As Snoopy and Charlie Brown race towards the base Violet calls, "Tag him, Snoopy! Don't let him get to first!"

Shermy calls, "Tag him, Snoopy!" "Don't let him get to second!" Patty cries. "Don't let him get to third!" Violet adds as Snoopy, ball in mouth, chases Charlie Brown towards base.

"Don't let him get home!" Shermy cries, running after them. Snoopy leaps forward.

"You're out!" Patty cheers as Snoopy tackles a sliding Charlie Brown to the ground right in front of home plate.

"If you're a good dog, I may even buy you an ice-cream bone!' Patty offers as she walks along, with Snoopy trotting behind her.

"?" Snoopy thinks as he gazes at a truck with agrill covering all the wondows and doors. Patty exclaims, "!"

"Run, Snoopy run!! That was the dogcatcher!!" Snoopy races off, envisioning himself in a striped prisoner's uniform, with a ball chained to his leg and a hammer to chop stones.

Listen!" Patty pauses as they stand huddles by a wooden fence. Snoopy pants, iomagining himself strapped into an electric chair.

Patty peeks around the side of the fence. She breathes: "Someone's coming! And he's got a NET!" "Yipe!" Snoopy's ears stand up in terror.

Patty crouches down in a doorway and clasps the dog close to her: "We're trapped!" she announces.

Charlie Brown appears in front of Patty and Snoopy. He holds a net and asks, "Anyone care to hunt butterflies?"
