Fuck AI

It's nice to have but I find myself using it less than I did ATM.

I find myself only ever using AI for silly images to share with my partner and such anymore. It's clearly not competent enough to be trusted the way average people have been relying on it. I switched to open weight local models and they honestly seem to work better than the large online models with proper prompting, and acting as a assisting tool rather than a creativity/skill replacer. Still have to double check everything it outputs if it is critical information.

That said, I wouldn't be torn up in the slightest if it was gone right now.

sounds like someone that never done meth. Meth might help you stop using AI.

I mean I work in a slaughterhouse pulling carcusses with a hook from the cooler out to get cut up. Not sure how losing AI would impact my job.

Not only do I not use a.i. in my job, I can't even think of any way a.i. could be even a minor help.

Lol, they completely over estimate how many people actually use AI I guess? I have used it like 3 or 4 times ever in 2 years. Im pretty sure I will be iust fine. I would much rather see RAM prices return to normal so everything else would be normal.

on a abstract level, he is correct, using AI has the same effect as drinking alcohol which has the same effect of doing meth.

the people who use AI, if it were to all be taken away, would have the same problems (on an abstract level) as say a recovering alcoholic. As for those who haven't relied on it as much, you could think of it as a temporary blackout.

Since I haven’t used AI/LLMs for much at all, the answers are yes without question.

As far as my works concerned it was a lot easier to find manuals and diagrams on Google before the AI steamroller. I know it was essentially there in the shape of the algorithm but clearly something different between these two monsters.

I'd be 100% fine, and I'm a fucking systems analyst, a job where you'd think AI might actually be helpful.

But honestly, nope it's not. Even for basic data parsing and analysis, it takes more time for me to double check AIs work, understand what it's doing, then correct its mistakes than it would for me to just do it right the first time.

Let me put it another way; a job that takes me two hours on my own would probably take at least 3 hours if I had AI do it, when I factor in the proofing and corrections, plus there's the additional cost of the AI itself, so I have a hard time seeing how it will EVER be more cost efficient to use AI. Especially with ai prices keep going up, and its use raises overall energy prices for everyone.

It's even worse than the response. I'm struggling to find an elegant analogy, but suffice to say that many of us that use it every day would be totally fine going back to doing it the old way. And the environmental impact! And cognitive impact! Yeah, it would be a change, but it's nothing like meth. (Not that I've ever done meth, but I've known addicts.)

Yes, actually. I've spent most of my adult life making art and writing fantasy, and fully intend to continue doing so because I enjoy the process. In fact, it'd help me feel like my decade in industry was worth something

This is exactly what is happening at national scales with "sovereign AI" projects. As if suddenly losing ChatGPT would cripple a country. We'd be just fine. Suddenly lock us out of our John Deer tractors or O365, and it would be another story.
