Summit wins out
Agreed, I've tried all the ones mentioned so far and some others but Summit is the only one that doesn't have annoyances and drawbacks for what I want.
Im on summit now and its ok. I wish sync was still in development.

Voyager for me. The compact mode is fairly compact, with small enough thumbnails that it can feel text-first. The few others that support piefed have had huge images with no easy way to fix that.
I like Boost.
Last time I said this, I got shunned for recommending a closed-source app. I generally try to stick to open-source, but Boost has a good UI, works well, and bugs are fixed quickly.
I'm also using boost but "bugs are fixed quickly" isn't my experience.

I'm using Voyager and happy with it. Of course, now. I need to trial these listed by others.
I use Firefox and have no idea why you'd need a dedicated app.
who cares why someone might prefer or be interested or i suppose even "need" an app. why you gotta throw shade just bc you prefer a browser?

After much complaining about sync's descent into mediocre abandonware, i finally switched to Summit - i still miss sync's ui/ux - but its nice being able to use a non buggy product
Likewise. I left Reddit when they killed third party apps because Sync was Reddit to me. I stuck with it here for a lot longer than I should have, but I finally accepted that it was dead and settled on Summit after trying a few others. Connect is also good, but I felt like it wasn't quite as flexible as Summit last I tried.

Summit for me. I've tried most of the others mentioned so far but always stick to summit.
Sync. But I'm an old guy with habits that are hard to change
I stayed with sync until I was forced to switch due to bugs and missing features, I tried all alternatives I could find and settled on Summit. Highly recommend, it has a ton of options and both looks and feels great to use.
You'll probably be forced to change your habit soon.

I also use Jerboa and I have never tried anything else. It's great imo but lacking in the more interesting features I have seen from other clients. User tagging is super cool
I used to use Boost for Reddit back then and switched over to Boost for Lemmy initially. Nowadays I use Voyager as the UI is better IMO.

Sync for Lemmy

Most of the time, sync, because I prefer my scrolling and reading on a tablet, and having dual columns that are easy to parse is more important than most other factors.
Boost is my backup for the same reason, since so far all the otherwise great lemmy first apps don't do dual column well, when they do it at all.
That being said, check out connect, summit, and thunder. All damn fine apps overall

As a primarily iPhone user, I get a thrill using Voyager on my Android phone. It's basically an Apollo clone, and Apollo was iOS only (for Reddit). IIRC Voyager is based on its released source code. The Apollo dev was never gonna code for Android, but he didn't stop others from doing so, and they did. I also like the client. On iOS, I use it for my Piefed account because of its support for that branch (fork?) of Lemmy. On iOS for this account, I use Mlem, which I believe is iOS only.
I'm happy with Voyager on Android, but I'm certainly open to alternatives. I want to keep one app that can switch between the two, so it needs Lemmy and Piefed support. I also like the comfortable interface with previews, the ability to blur/hide NSFW on a toggle (like if I'm out in public vs at home), and swipe controls (upvote, downvote, reply, and save). Easy access to blocking is also important (e.g. on this account I browse /all).
I'm using Voyager because Star Trek.
Works very well except for one problem, it doesn't remember the last thread or community I was on I switch apps and android kills in background.
It's particularly annoying when I follow a link and when I come back to comment on it Voyager is back on Home and the thread lost forever.
Or when I'm in the middle to writing a comment but want to quickly fact check something but when I come back I get a message saying that my comment was saved, nice. But still can't go back to the thread I was to finish it.
Apart from that I'm satisfied with it.
I'm using boost now but I miss the swipe to upvote feature I used to have on sync. Any recommendations? That swipe feature was great and made it so easy to throw a vote out there.

I tried Voyager and Interstellar but Blorp for whatever reason was the only one with a UI that felt right to me.
