People should consider reading Iron Heel by Jack London. Written in 1908 it is considered a social sci-fi, reading it now it feels like he came back from the future to write it.
US also needs to remember that should it choose to leave it will also need to exit all it's European bases currently occupied under the pretext of NATO.

Along with all intelligence sharing etc. I don't think the fanta fuhrer reaslises the consequense of his mouth. Probably thinks he can withdraw from NATO but keep all the perks.
At this point I would feel safer without US as part of NATO and wouldn't trust them not stab allies in the back at the first opportunity.
