I had a PayPal account at some point for some reason. Then one day I was out with my family and my phone started getting blown up with password reset requests, then emails from PayPal saying there was suspicious activity on my account originating in India, and then I immediately removed all payment methods from my account, and shut down the account. Never again.

Hmm, interesting. Didn't Alex Jones basically have all of his everything ripped away from him for making similar claims about Sandy Hook? I say we give RFK the Jones treatment.
No License to Kill. There is a handicap modifier that you can set to like +10 or something and it makes it so you die in one hit. That sounds like it's the same thing, but it made it so if you got body armor, you would die in 2 hits, which made the body armor actually worth something.
You can pause Windows updates, although I'm not sure I would suggest it because they are usually patching a baotlad of security vulns.

Not defending Microsoft in any way, just pointing out that the option exists. Of course you will get updates once it unpauses, but maybe another CU down the line won't break shit.

One time when packing up after a LAN party, a friend of mine grabbed my surge protector instead of his power strip. A couple days later I was like "Hey we swapped some gear by mistake. I think you took my surge protector and I have your power strip" and he was was like "Oh well I already set my computer back up at home, so maybe we just keep them because it's the same thing"
Nah, my dude. Mine is an expensive surge protector that I put my expensive computer equipment on. Yours is a $10 power strip from the bargain bin at Home Depot and I would never plug things I care about into it.
He did swap back with me but acted like it was such a bother.

Not yet. But it feels like the squeeze is getting tighter every month that passes. It feels like I can't get through a day without having to spend money on some shit. And I'm not talking about luxuries. I'm not talking about avocado toast or coffee. I'm talking about fixing shit in my coop apartment. Getting new brakes on my car. Getting clothes for my kids. New shoes because mine literally have a hole worn through them. I try to go with low cost options. I buy food in bulk and meal prep. It feels like the system is nickel and dime-ing me harder and harder every day. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but the future feels bleak. Capitalism is bleeding us dry while keeping us alive. We are the prisoners of financial vampires.
