Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. 😇 Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. 📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. 📋 Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      ✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. 📬 Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
  7. 🏴‍☠️ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

It's entirely possible

I love that this is a comic now.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 38 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

Man, 2013 Rogan was just him talking to other out of work comedians about Fear Factor. Not sure I miss it? Definitely would prefer it.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 hours ago

In the past, Rogan had some pretty good guests on. So there was a lot of it being "smart guy explaining things to a dumb guy", and him just being all "wow" at whatever was being said was fine.

But at a certain point he started thinking that he wasn't a dumb guy and began talking about what he thought about things and having on guests that thought the same way as him. So now it's just the "dumb guys talking dumb guy shit" show.

[–] GolfFoxtrotLima@sh.itjust.works 12 points 23 hours ago

Yeah, same here honestly

As awful as I found fear factor itself (I’m very afraid of heights and squeamish), I’d still prefer it.

[–] kn33@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

It wasn't the heights I had a problem with watching. It was the eating. My stomach got unhappy just watching.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I don’t love the idea of being covered in bugs or snakes or something, but it’s definitely worth a huge sum of money. I know eating live scorpions (or similar) isn’t worth it for me, and I’m pretty sure I’d literally have a heart attack if I had to do a heights challenge, so they’re definitely not paying enough.

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 2 points 16 hours ago

I only watched a few. Putting a live cave spider in my mouth is a 100% nope.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 20 points 21 hours ago

This is giving joe way too much credit, he's Far dumber than that.

[–] Smug_Marmot@lemmy.zip 58 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How did my cat get on Joe Rogan?

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The cat is part of a right-wing propaganda group, so Joe was 100% on board with having it.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not true. All cats are members of the same anarchy organization. He just duped them into thinking he is in alignment with them.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Cats are (American) libertarians.

Completely dependent on a system they neither understand or appreciate, while claiming complete independence from it, and constantly try to tear it all down.

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 1 points 13 hours ago

I lol'd,

But when i think about it more, cats could actually go feral and survive on their own

Unlike libertarians who couldnt last 2 days wothout driving their fat asses down a publicly funded road in their giant SUV fueled by publicly subsidized gas prices. Driving to go to the supermarket to buy food produced with farm subsidies and whatever public funds are upholding the temporary foreign slave labour we import seasonally to harvest food....

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 7 points 23 hours ago

American libertarians are just republicans who are ashamed to call themselves that. Also, some of them like weed.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well, you've messed up my claim. Yes, some cats are totally like that, and would never survive on their own. Others wouldn't give their past human servants a second thought if they found themselves outside. Still, they are not right wing.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 8 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

The right-wing attitude can be boiled down to "I've got mine, fuck you, give me yours".

The details vary, but that's the core of it.

Cats certainly qualify. I own three of them and they're all assholes.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Feral cats even benefit from the vast amounts of waste we generate. Mice and other prey live off our scraps, even if the cats don’t directly.

It’s scary how analogous they are to the libertarians. Never seen a cute libertarian though.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Never seen a cute libertarian though.

Have tried giving one a makeover?

Exactly. Because you never thought to share /smh

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 2 points 21 hours ago

Right wing, left wing, they'll eat the whole bird, ~~thanks~~

[–] m0darn@lemmy.ca 2 points 17 hours ago

what did that feel like like, when you first found found out you'd never been fed before?

[–] bobbyfiend@retrolemmy.com -1 points 11 hours ago

I've stopped.being surprised when online comedians run out of material and just start lifting it from other comedians

Is that the one The Onion now owns?

Feels like this could happen...

[–] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

You got my hopes up.

I don't wish Alex anything but a long life after a hopefully complete rehabilitation of his sociopsthic habits.

But I do have a nice drink set aside for my own enjoyment on the day that I'm convinced Alex will stop harming others.

I don't have any particularly strict rule about how I get convinced he is done hurting people. I suspect I'll see it in the obituaries rather than an op-ed. But I'm open to either.

Alex doesn't seem likely to fix his life, but he also looks like he doesn't cares well for his health...so I do have that drink near the front of the cabinet.

Oh well. My nice drink can wait. Maybe I'll open it to celebrate his reform yet. Like Alice, I try to believe six impossible things before breakfast.

Joe Rogan POPPED like a balloon!

[–] Dr_pepper_spray@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I love Adam Tots stuff. Not my favorite of his, and no I'm not a Rogan fan, but not bad for a weekly submission.

[–] warbond@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's interesting, I saw this same joke yesterday in text form, I wonder if he got it from that

[–] f314@lemmy.world 80 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Considering the comic says «tweet by @spinningjoe» in the bottom right, I think it is safe to assume he did!

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 16 points 23 hours ago

Good on him to actually give the source of the joke. Awesome!
