What is this? A meal on an Aircraft Carrier?

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 93 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Couldn't be, there's protein on the plate

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone 35 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It's the new barbecue place in town

Can’t be. Meat isn’t blue enough.

"We do things a little different around here."

And then proceeds to do everything by the vanilla play book. Moreso for manbun burger places, but still works here.

[–] binarytobis@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"We do things a little different around here."

Then proceeds to explain Tapas.

Differently? Alright, what's on tap?

"we serve coke products here, sir"

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago

They charge differently maybe

The new BBQ place in my town

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

My local BBQ place will do a full 3-meat (and sides) catering spread for 20 people for $350. If you’re paying $300 for 6 people, you’re getting ripped off.

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That'll be $200 please and thank you.

The way those rolls were laying i thought it was just an entire loaf of challah bread.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'd love to see their "smoker". Zero smoke rings on anything in this picture and that pulled pork looks like crock pot pulled pork.

That brisket is a crime against humanity.

YUM

Nice sly reference to the company owning several well-known restaurant chains.

Yum! Brands, Inc. (sometimes called just Yum!) is an American multinational fast food corporation. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the company operates KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Habit Burger & Grill, and several technology companies. Yum! is one of the world's largest fast food restaurant companies in terms of system units. In 2016, Yum! had 43,617 restaurants, including 2,859 that were company-owned and 40,758 that were franchised, in 135 nations and territories worldwide.

2016? Guess Wikipedia hasn't updated this one in a while.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 weeks ago

They might not be updating their marketing materials.

It's been ages since I've set foot in a bbq restaurant because of this.

*equips cane, glasses, and supplemental O2 tank*

Back in my day, an entree in these places wouldn't break the bank, and would send you home with leftovers every time.

Ah yes the three item meal plus one other thing.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

This is what Mission BBQ is like, but add in the guilt trip to buy a $3 plastic drink cup "for the troops". And the barbecue is not good. It's not inedible or anything, it's just that everything (including the sides) is loaded with sugar.

24 dollars? What? Does that come with a hand-job?

Yes, but it's not applied to your equipment, but rather your wallet.

[–] meat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Briskit is $40/lb at the last bbq place I went.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

It's spelled Brexit

[–] imadethis@fedinsfw.app 8 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

Which is insane. I remember 1/2 lb moist for $4.99. Brisket used to be a cheap meat because it was always thought horrendous, and smoking it was the only way to tenderize it enough to be palatable. Freaking ridiculous.

Rudy's menu near me. 2.50 more for "moist".

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 6 points 2 weeks ago

If you're splurging and it's not moist, you need to hydrate more

[–] Brosplosion@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

They are two different parts of the brisket. The "moist" is from the point which is fattier than the "lean" flat.

Oh if that’s what’s being served at $25 I’d wonder if I’m trapped on the Abraham Lincoln and just dissociating/imagining my daily life.

[–] assembly@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That’s like 16 Costco hotdog meals.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

More like 15 here, sales tax sucks in WA

I feel bad for people that don't have access to good Barbecue.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

As someone who lives in 1 of those areas and visited Texas once 3 years ago I agree... I never had bbq ever like that before. Thats all we did for 3 days straight, bbq, brewery, bbq, brewery, concert festival at night. Best trip I had in a long time.

Pickles? In this economy?

[–] ieGod@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago

Affording beef, in this economy? Fancy.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

There haven't been a ton of bright spots moving back here to the south, but plenty of good bbq places is one of them.

[–] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And the pickles are the only thing worth eating.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Nah. They are Mt. Olive. Not even Vlasic, let alone something actually edible.
