I bought my wife pregnancy clothing, and found out I’m having a girl!

For a moment, I was confused why you would buy your wife pregnant clothing before you knew she was pregnant with a girl.

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 8 points 10 months ago

... Almost like he had something to do with it

I didn't even pay for bus fare. I biked to work, biked home, and ate leftovers. Suck it, fake corporate holiday!

Nothing, and I don’t plan to buy anything except normal stuff through January, either. I’m not doing Xmas this year, so very easy to avoid the spend.

Not goddamn thing. Best Black Friday ever.

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

I didn't need anything so I didn't buy anything. 🤷

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 15 points 10 months ago

Not a single thing

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 13 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

A box of 5x50 (metric) wood screws. Not because of black friday, but because I had ran out.

[–] Libb@piefed.social 12 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Nothing I would not have bought any other time.

[–] timhayes1991@lemmy.zip 12 points 10 months ago (4 children)

I must admit I was a big spender. I was on the second last day of my cruise, so I went a little wild. I spent $2.55 on the Guitar Hero cabinet in the arcade. No regrets.

Goodness gracious, the way everybody on Lemmy claims to be anti-capitalist, the majority of answers better be "nothing".

Edit: ITT: people offended at being lumped in with the rabble.

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 10 months ago

Even communists have to buy supplies

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 6 points 10 months ago

In my defense, I actually did have to get my prescription medications, but I didn't buy anything else.

I bought a rock climb membership on sale. The next day, it was on sale for a cheaper price so I refunded and bought it again

I made no purchases. I don't need much more than groceries and I have leftovers still for a few days.

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 9 points 10 months ago

I didn't buy anything

[–] remon@ani.social 9 points 10 months ago

Was that yesterday? Didn't go shopping yesterday.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Nothing related to black friday as I only did groceries.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Nothing.

We're supposed to be holding a boycott until Dec 2nd.

Y'all are fucking pathetic who broke the line.

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I never heard of this boycott. If it makes it any better, I didn't buy anything from a big business

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

First I've heard of one too. But too be fair I'm too poor to buy anything anyway

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Not a god damn thing

[–] zlatiah@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Nothing, I don't exactly need anything at the moment. In fact I almost forgot Black Friday existed...

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

I was going to buy the Lego Star Trek enterprise, but it was sold out before I got there. Oh well, they saved me from myself with artificial supply restrictions.

Instead, I didn't buy anything.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 7 points 10 months ago

nothing and fuck all of you for participating in this scam.

VPN.

(2-year subscription for Proton came to $71.76) I wasn’t planning on buying anything anyway but during these dark times, VPN is a necessity IMO.

[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Is this actually a specific day somewhere?

All the online shops I know are having "black Friday" for some weeks and I don't know (and don't care) when it ends.

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 10 months ago

Traditionally, Black Friday only meant that Friday after Thanksgiving, but as things started being more online-centric, I guess stores extend those sales

[–] azimir@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I bought a single €2 snack while walking through a Christmas market. Other than that, it was a day of riding public transit (monthly pass), walking through parks, and eating a packed lunch.

Out of pocket total: €2.

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 months ago

Sounds like a lovely day

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Stayed home. (Except a regular walk around the neighborhood.)

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 5 points 10 months ago

I got some Channa Masala at a local indian place but it wasn't on sale or anything

[–] hexagonwin@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 10 months ago

I got a second hand ThinkPad W520 for about $30USD. I already have one, but this was too good of a deal to pass.

[–] cobysev@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

I keep a wishlist of things I want/need with their regular prices marked. On Black Friday, I check that list to see if anything got discounted. More than likely, nothing is, because discounted products are usually cheaper variants, or already-expensive items marked up in advance, then dropped to regular price for Black Friday.

Nothing on my list was discounted this year. So I bought some games through the Steam Black Friday sale and called it a day.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 months ago

Some degreaser and penetrating oil for a small engine one of my kids is trying to repair.

[–] _deleted_@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Friday night, so I got some treats to eat while we watched TV at home. Milk, cheese, crackers, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream.
