Maybe that would be true - if there was much the Canadian government could do at all.
The Middle East isn't our region, and the one major player in our own region has very strong opinions of their own.
Canada could stop sending weapons to Israel and disband the Israel/Canada free trade agreement
That's true, I guess. I don't know how many weapons we send them - it's almost all the US and Germany as of last I checked - but it looks like we do have free trade.
That would matter more than a Tweet, but not enough to really make Israel pause.
And this coming week, we have a fanatical Israeli settler who encourages genocide coming to Canada to give a talk about it!
I am not sure the legacy of Lester Pearson would agree.

Sooo what would the equivalent of that be today? The solution was to separate the warring parties with peacekeepers - separating the parties in this modern conflict amounts to invading and occupying Israel/Palestine, and I don't even think Canada would win that war. And, Israel's ally was European colonial powers just pursuing colonial interests, so they could be reasoned with, as opposed to the ideological-religious morass that's driving the US.
In Kosovo, the mandate of the UN force changed from Peace Keeper to Peace Maker. But you are correct, in the Suez Crisis, they just hated each other. I do not really think either side was particularly genocidal. When one side is ideologically genocidal, probably not much except overwhelming military power will work to keep that side constrained.
