What is Cyberpunk?

Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). If the punks aren’t actively fighting against a megacorp, they’re still dealing with living in a world completely dependent on high technology.

I wonder how they got it off. Doesn’t look like they cut it.

In addition to lubricant you can thread string or thin tape through the ring and wrap it around the finger to compress it while working the ring off. I’m sure there must be videos out there that show this technique.

Edit: Here’s one that came up easily…not saying it’s the best, but it gives the idea: https://youtube.com/shorts/gI95I2f2jJM

That's far more elegant than taking the finger off. Cool example video - thanks for sharing. I didn't know you could do that.

Taking the finger off is so much more fun though.

Dental floss works too!

Probably lubricant. Cutting it would have a high chance of puncturing the battery and burn your finger.

Cut it off while his hand is underwater?

What do you think is making it swell then?

Li-Ion batteries swell because if the battery gets damaged, moisture from the air can get inside and react with the lithium in an exothermic reaction, producing lithium hydroxide and hydrogen. The hydrogen is highly flammable, and depending on the volume of water, it can cause a violent explosion.

That guy is lucky that it didn’t explode and that his finger isn’t a burnt/mutilated mess right now.

Based on their reply, I think they are saying "putting your hand under water prior to puncturing a lithium ion battery won't help you retain your finger."

Ah. Sorry for not catching that. I’d just woken up and was in my pre-coffee phase :(

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 0 points 8 months ago

This would end up with the entire hand being removed

Water does not help battery fires

Yes, 100% is high.
