Not fair! Last time I exhibited the bleached bones of my slain enemies in my lair, I got arrested.

[–] lessbitey@sh.itjust.works 34 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies.

[–] tetris11@lemmy.ml 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's one of the older LoTR cartoons

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

The Bashki cut, right?

[–] Johanno@feddit.org 10 points 11 months ago

If you take the German title "Ritter der Kokosnuss" and translate it back to english it is Knights of the the coconut.

Well because they use coconuts instead of horses....

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (4 children)

You haven’t seen Montey Python and the Holy Grail?

Relax. We’ve only ever seen it in clips. Though it is obligatory to insult you in a terrible accent: You’re mother was a Hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!

(Seriously though, it was one of those movies that almost no one has watched, but has seen most of anyway.)

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How almost no one has watched it? In my bubble, almost everyone has seen it multiple times, often in cinema during rereleases - it's a cult classic!

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You know what makes a cult classic a cult classic, right? Very passionate but also niche fan bases.

It’s a great and iconic film, but most people have never actually seen it end to end.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

wait fuck i gotta add another cult to the list of cults i joined dammit

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There's a fair bit of humor you miss out on if you've only seen clips and memes. Most of my irl friends have seen it and blazing saddles, though that could be my fault...

[–] Barbarian@sh.itjust.works 18 points 11 months ago (2 children)

The ending is a real cop-out though

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Underrated comment.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

[–] lemmyng@piefed.ca 11 points 11 months ago

[–] Bo7a@lemmy.ca 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Everyone I have met who was worth talking to has seen and loved this movie. Am I old?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

it was a rite of passage when your parents finally thought you were old enough to watch Holy Grail

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 29 points 11 months ago (1 children)

If I were a bird that shit would work on me, ngl.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The Bowerbird’s Bower is not a nest or a home, think more like a box from which a potential mate will watch him do a little one man show. It’s a temporary display.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Me building a hand puppet set and bench to attract potential mates.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Not holding a huge fish, why bother?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don't see a dog OR a hot dog, i don't see what he brings to the relationship

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 months ago

Girls only care about one thing and that's pointless demonstration of power in pictures.

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 8 points 11 months ago

My "Hi!" comes after the planning phase, but I've been accused of not being spontaneous.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Not nearly enough blue imo

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 10 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

You probably already know this but for the others, different species of Bowerbirds have different color preferences! There is some speculation these preferences might relate to their own coloring. Also some speculation this might be due to regional traditions.

The Satin Bowerbird prefers blue, both the male and female have blue eyes and the male has that metallic black (almost blue-looking) feathering that some ravens have.

This is my hole. It was made for me.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 11 months ago

[–] flora_explora@beehaw.org 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Are the straights alright? Why not just plan a date together?

[–] baggins@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] flora_explora@beehaw.org 2 points 11 months ago

It was more of a rhetorical question ;)

[–] scratchee@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago

Hey now, we have an unfair disadvantage, all the nutters are lumped in with us and bringing the side down.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I gotta tame some of these to get ready for halloween
