# Rules

1. Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
2. When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.
3. The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.

Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

This isn't just relevant to Lemmy because it's culturally intertwined with Lemmy but also because there's a search engine database now that acts as a registry for anyone promoting any of the mass shooters (Luigi, Robin, Tyler, etc.).

China currently bans anyone from entering who denies their narrative about Tiananmen Square. It's the same deal here. There's also a couple of already-controversial Lemmy users who are collaborating with the US government by judas-kissing everyone after having honeypotted them. One of them having been infamous for banning people who promoted "blind alignment with Luigi Mangione" [sic].

Those fuckers (sadly in charge) are scared shitless.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

They have a weird way of showing it.

What?

That's a mess I was caught up in. None of those people are me or are liked by me.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Judas-kissing is a midwest term. It means using covert means to mark someone as a person of interest for other people. It comes from the story of Judas kissing Jesus as a way to tell the Romans which person in the audience was Jesus.

"Honeypot" is government slang. It means an organization secretly made to keep track of a certain demographic. In this case, it refers to the government using the fediverse as a litmus test for whoever they think is worth putting under their radar.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Are you willing to name the Lemmy users doing this?

Your wording leaves me wondering whether you're suggesting that they're actively working with the feds, or just being helpful to them without that intent?

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

For better or worse, the government isn't dumb and they're aware not everyone in the fediverse is who they're looking for. The fediverse is very feudal, and the government has occasionally popped in to subtly ask the disillusioned for pointers, since simple spying often leads to questions. So there's active collaboration here.

Keep in mind this is a recent development in fairly old news. Trump was known in the beginning to vet immigrants for their social media presence. The freedom from lèse-majesté as it's called has been broken.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 11 months ago

I've reported you to the US government. Removal pending

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

So no, you can't name them. Or really have anything but speculation

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

Not really what I said. Though I think this was answered better in the other exchange where someone asked.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

for anyone promoting any of the mass shooters (Luigi, Robin, Tyler, etc.).

Luigi and Tyler are alleged assassins, NOT mass shooters.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Whoops. Meant to say just "shooters".

[–] veniasilente@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 11 months ago (5 children)

Alleged shooters. I have not seen any conviction on Luigi yet.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Has he even been in the news lately?

[–] Quibblekrust@thelemmy.club 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes, literally yesterday when the terrorism charges were dropped.

Not to be a pedant, but the word assassination is usually used for government leaders and prominent people. I know that the far right in the US sees right wing podcasters as Jesus, but I don’t believe the person who shot and killed Kirk was trying to seize power. I absolutely could be wrong, of course

[–] epicstove@lemmy.ca 0 points 11 months ago

They way they're treating Kirks death I would have thought he was some senator or high ranking military personnel.

...not some right wing influencer.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's not pedantic if it educates. I appreciate the correction.

[–] Venefica@lemmy.ca 0 points 11 months ago

It’s not your fault in any way. It’s what they’re using on the news. They’re treating this like a head of state was assassinated for power or something. People are calling the police if they see a flag that isn’t lowered. It’s insane here.

[–] s@piefed.world 0 points 11 months ago

I really do despise authoritarianism. If only there was some way to become rid of it.

[–] rhymeswithduck@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I'm confused. Is it just users furnishing the gov with usernames? Or is it mods, who could potentially have access to a user's email used to sign up with their instance? Do mods have access to that, or just admins?

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

A mix of all the above. Recall that time in American history that Orwell ratted on his comrades.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 0 points 11 months ago

You can spin up your own instance and see a whole bunch of shit like IP addresses, vote history, etc.

I think it would be naive to think that the various 3 letter agencies wouldn't have their own instance to surveill us.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm forever grateful for the fact that I'm not 'Murican

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Do you ever plan to go to Murica or have family in Murica?

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I have someone special to me in 'Murica

We're working on her visa to get her the fuck out of there

I go over all the time to see her

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 0 points 11 months ago

I delete all social media apps from my phone before I get to immigration

I'm there enough that they can see my travel history and I pretty much get waved through now

I make sure that I don't make myself a target though

[–] AndiHutch@lemmy.zip 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How are you aware of alleged Lemmy users collaborating with the US government? It almost sounds like you are implying you have insider knowledge of the focus of US federal agents.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's not new news. It's just a new development in that news. Spying was already a topic with Luigi and Robin, but Charlie Kirk's assassination was an enormous deal apparently, with world leaders the world over paying respects. That kicked off a whole search engine based registry, which MSNBC reported on. Some of this involves a doxxing process, and even if this wasn't already made clear, you could put two and two together and get an idea that Lemmy would play a huge part in this and would be the thing all the paper trails lead to.

As for knowing exactly who is working with the NSA, people working for the agency would follow the same tactics. They entice a reaction, fake-debate with people, mine people for knowledge while knowing who probably is and isn't sympathetic to extremists (even though they would play it safe and treat everyone the same). They're not afraid to outright sit down with trustees though (recall the story of Orwell ratting out his comrades), and the crew behind the search engine registry isn't classified. Some people will brag and say they're working with the government as a flex, and occasionally it will be consistent with events surrounding suspects.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I see. So it’s speculation then.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 0 points 11 months ago (10 children)

When your adversary is the spooks... That's the best you are gonna get.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago

I couldn't have explained that aspect better. Thanks.

If by speculation you mean indirect confirmation.

Hate speech for thee, but not for me. Nazi scum do love their lists.

TheObviousSolution, that's "The" "Obvious" "Solution", without spaces.

[–] frenchfryenjoyer@lemmings.world 0 points 11 months ago

Glad I don't live in the US because the administration is fine with promoting hatred against women, transgender people and people who aren't white but this is where they draw the line. Safe to say they're scared shitless. Good lmao

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

unless the nazi states of america start acting outside of their country, I don't think I'm too concerned about it. I'm not planning on ever visiting again, at least in the foreseeable future.

be safe down there, though, folks

[–] CanadianCorhen@lemmy.ca 0 points 11 months ago

i'm pretty close to that. I've not said anything directly pro-murder, but plenty anti-kirk and anti-trump.

I'm not pro shooter, but, as a Canadian, my facebook page is full of political concerns about Trump, and the USA's decline into facism. I wouldnt expect to be allowed in into the anti-free speech zones Trump is creating.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 0 points 11 months ago

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I don't think "pro-shooter content" should be a thing to begin with.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

China currently bans anyone from entering who denies their narrative about Tiananmen Square.

I don't think they do. I think they would if you decided to start telling people in China about it. But if you shut up while you're in China and haven't shown any signs of trying to influence the Chinese people, they don't really care.

[–] PatrickStar@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You'd be surprised. Any time some famous YouTube host says anything about Tiananmen Square, there's almost always an obligatory drama queen remark about being banned from China the moment it gets uploaded (I say "drama queen remark" because I would be surprised if anyone would actually want to go to China aside from seeing the great wall and marking it off a bucket list of every nation that ever existed).

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 0 points 11 months ago

That's a celebrity. Nobody cares if you're an average person and not too loud. Although the list of celebrities on the Wikipedia list of banned people from China seems to be people who did/said stuff while in China, often to an audience.
