I thought you said you stopped doing the reposting bullshit?

That is how it works, but that fall back tells the website what is and isn't available. Websites don't get a list provided by your browser- this website tests a big list of them:

/* Fonts — measured via width comparison; the device names what it carries */ const testFonts = ['Helvetica Neue','Georgia','Courier New','Comic Sans MS','Impact','Trebuchet MS','Palatino','Garamond','Futura','Gill Sans','Verdana','Tahoma','Lucida Console','Cambria','Consolas','Menlo','Monaco']; const installed = []; const probe = document.createElement('span'); probe.style.cssText = 'position:absolute;left:-9999px;font-size:72px;visibility:hidden'; probe.textContent = 'mmmmmmmmlli'; document.body.appendChild(probe); probe.style.fontFamily = 'monospace'; const baseW = probe.offsetWidth; testFonts.forEach(f => { probe.style.fontFamily = '"' + f + '",monospace'; if (probe.offsetWidth !== baseW) installed.push(f); }); document.body.removeChild(probe);

I use a custom font on one of my websites with the font files hosted on my server, which it offers to the browser, but it can be overridden by user accessibility settings

And yet here they are showing me their webpage in darkmode 😒

Oh damn that's good to know- sounds a lot safer than jamming a pocket knife in it

We need actual slurs for rich people- that would be fun

What rights do LLCs have that citizens don't? This sounds like a fun idea and I hope OP does it, but registering a DBA is a bit easier and accomplishes the same thing. Liability protection would be a good idea if actually taking on customers, but just using the business name for personal stuff seems pretty low risk

I was exposed to sexy ladies as a child, and now I'm forever condemned to be attracted to sexy ladies 😔". "That's hell," the other party responds.

I wear exclusively athletic pants, so traditional holsters seem out of the questions for me. How I currently carry is by wearing high-waisted spandex shorts under my pants and keeping my handgun (micro-compact) in the waistband of those, but I can't run well with that setup.

If you or someone you know have used a belly band holster, is there a brand you'd recommend? (Or suggest avoiding?)

Are they as practical as they seem?

Do you have any alternative suggestions?

Looking for any general input, really

Hi!

I hope this is an okay thing to ask/post here.

I have a couple hybrid self-help books in the works, and it occurred to me that some of the language I've been using is exclusionary. The tone/style is basically the opposite of magical realism, in which evidence-based therapy, psychology, and neuroscience stuff is presented as if magical.

Because of this, I can certainly make use of terms like "being," "entity," etc, (and I already do, to some extent) but there are times where I (maybe naïvely?) feel like I need to be more specific about what/who I'm referring to. This is important and difficult because I'm trying to avoid breaking the fourth wall by using the word "you" (or referring to the reader directly at all).

Questions/ Discussion Topics:

Do you have an opinion on the word "person"? I would argue that non-human animals are people, but I imagine it could feel dysphoric to be referred to this way

What about "one" or "individual"? This seems exclusionary of systems, and possibly objects

Is there any alternative to "human"/"humanoid" that captures the spirit of what that conveys without being problematic?

When I read "he or she," I automatically think "ah okay, this isn't about me." and that feeling fucking sucks. I don't want a single reader of mine to feel this way, if I can avoid it

A text exchange which reads, "Okie doke good to know! And just to be super clear, if I refer a Cuban client to you, they (SIC) not gonna text me saying "Gary… en serio tú me tiraste pa un gusano asere" ? Sorry to be blunt but I need to be sure 😅." with a response of, "Omg 😂 Send them my way. Yo me ocupo!!"

Trying to find a Spanish-speaking anticapitalist medication management provider in Florida for my referral network

Any Cuban-American folks who can provide more insight on what this response might imply? It feels a bit dismissive, but I want to believe he just didn't want to be too explicit in writing

Yet I saw it today. And it's considered normal and acceptable. Surely it's undemocratic if nothing else.

I mean if sixteen people think that it's a good conversation then it's probably a good conversation, at least in their opinion, and they are the people having the conversation after all so they are the experts. And the moderator doesn't possess any kind of special understanding, right? It's just her opinion versus opinion of sixteen others. So she should just let them talk. And this seems pretty obvious to me.

So what's going on here. Is YarrMatey just that awful? Is everybody else just Stockholm Syndromeized? Is this some kind o' mammalian authority-reflex? "Well they own the community so they get to dictate morality therefore it is by definition not-awful..."

I think the ban is unfair because I only have so many alt accounts and it gets really annoying to switch accounts to find one that hasn't been banned every time I want to say something

As for how I think this should be remedied, I trust the community to decide what's right. What do you think?
