Or....its the German word for children

[–] Drewmeister@lemmy.world 73 points 1 year ago (2 children)

While yes, Happy Tree Friends is probably not for kids despite how it might look

[–] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I kinda think it was made with the intention kids would be exposed to it by mistake.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And I’m a 40-year old adult who knows exactly what Happy Tree Friends is, and I’m noping the hell away from it.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

La la lalala, la la lalala..

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago

Quite possibly, it was rather popular in my middle school and I think MCR or some other popular band did a music video with them.

[–] Xande@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 year ago

German media company managers are still think "Oh it's a cartoon, it must be for children!" No, they haven't hear the shot...

[–] jaaake@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The German words on the sign in the background support your observation

fuck, you’re right

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

I don't envy you after letting your kid watch happy tree friends. Good luck with the nightmares.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I reckon OP realized that but was more amused by the literal gore cartoon in the Kinder section and the title of the post is an entirely separate joke

[–] diemartin@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

(1 month later) Correct

[–] Yareckt@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 year ago

No, that would be Bratzen

It's a big country in Europe with a lot of people in it. But that's not important right now.

[–] Texas_Hangover@sh.itjust.works 52 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My daughter happened upon Happy tree friends at about 4 or 5 years old lol. She absolutely loved it, and there was no taking it away. Luckily she was born with the ability to realize the difference between real life and make believe, and she turned out just fine.

Ffs, she's only messily killed 2 of her friends. And one of those was an accident.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 year ago

She was definitely not born with that ability...

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 38 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I mean, Grimm’s Fairy Tales are similar levels of absurd violence lol

[–] Pechente@feddit.org 11 points 1 year ago

Or google Struwwelpeter if you wanna see what German kids are exposed to. Happy tree friends is tame in comparison.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It honestly isn't a show that I think an adult is likely to watch.

[–] Korne127@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Someone's about to get trauma

[–] PieMePlenty@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

You mean a core memory?

Somebody's grandma is gonna buy that for their grandson and the cycle will continue

Am... Am I on speaker!?

[–] mrfriki@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Oh I miss those cartoons a lot, we watched it with friends and we couldn’t stop laughing all the time.

[–] thespcicifcocean@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

ah, another man of culture, i see.

[–] sonoro@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You fellas laughed about the poor animals dying?!! :d

[–] mrfriki@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

All day long. The mix of cute animals and the nonchalant gore plus funny noises was peak comedy. Probably among the best stuff on YouTube ever.

[–] Dis32@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

You got any kinder eggs? These eggs just told me to f*** off.

[–] Memetic@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Now this is a true schizer post.

[–] Siegfried@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Scheißpfosten*

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ah yes, the thinking man’s “R-worded Animal Babies”

[–] Rolive@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago

A is for ASS!

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ummm wtf get played on that? I’m scared what it could be.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Cartoon Animals getting ripped apart by various means. Accidentally walking into a wood chipper, jumping into a barrel of razorwire, etc. pretty graphic.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Not to mention hilarious.
