Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I'm starting to feel like America is about to blow up into a civil war real soon. Add this to the Florida sheriff threatening to kill protesters, and yeah...

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 80 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yep. I got an adrenaline rush when I read this and it hasn't quite dissipated yet. My heart rate is still elevated, and I have the distinct feeling that my nervous system is expecting a civil war, even if my brain isn't quite there yet.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 90 points 11 months ago (5 children)

Agreed with you 100% I’m currently at my job I work in the mining industry and my town is only about 4000 people and 99.9% of them are trump supporters and the news of these murders have sent these people into a joyous state. They have been happily talking about it like it’s a good thing and are hoping more happen. I’ve been beyond mad and upset since Jan 6 and now I feel like my soul left my body for a few mins.

Thanks, you too bro love and respect.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 38 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That's just... insane. It seems like having a strong sense of empathy is such a weakness these days. I wouldn't have celebrated the murder of Republican congresspeople, nor would I have thought that your townspeople would celebrate this. Well meaning people just aren't equipped to handle what's happening, but I imagine our lizard brains will catch us up quickly, hence the adrenaline.

Be careful.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 8 points 11 months ago

I will be careful, you too love and respect.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 13 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

You keep yourself safe. That's an awful high ratio of wackos.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago

Yes I will be as safe as I can be, you too.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Like they did when Pelosi’s husband was attacked.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago

Yep exactly, I was also working on Jan 6 and that day was an emotional experience. Everyone at my job was running around like a kid on Christmas Day yelling with big smiles on there faces.

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

JFC I would have flipped my shit a long time ago. Stay safe.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The best thing I do is just ignore them and do my job. It doesn’t fix the problem though.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm a Norwegian living in rural Denmark. There are people at my work with 3D printed Trump mugs and statues on their desk, and one of them wears a MAGAt cap. In Denmark It's fucking infuriating for me, I can't imagine how it is for got! I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. Stay safe, friend!

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

Thank you, love and respect to you stay safe too.

“Bloodless if the left allows it.”

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I had my money on it in 2020 with redneck BLM "counter protestors" showing up with guns starting the show. No way this doesn't go to civil war. It'll be Vietnam though because the fascists control the federal apparatus.

Could someone with a bluesky account please post a screenshot?

[–] SalamenceFury@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

Here you go!

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago

That already happened. It’s a hot war and has been for months.

[–] blazeknave@lemmy.world -3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Told my son this was coming and why we were staying home today. Wish I was wrong more often.

[–] Cataphract@lemmy.ml 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

but.... you were wrong? There were hundreds of thousands protesting today, very small amount of turmoil. You would be more statistically likely to get hurt playing any type of sports or exercising at this point. Some people aren't safe just "staying home" with ICE and authoritarian raids, make sure your son knows that you're privileged to be able to feel that way.

Downvotes and .ml - take that as a no

If they haven’t caught the person, how can they say “impersonating” an officer? They’re top of the list of murders in the USofHeyyyy.

[–] ViatorOmnium@piefed.social 81 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Someone dressed up as cop, armed as cop, and driving a cop car is clearly three ducks in a cop uniform. /s

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 37 points 11 months ago

Brooklyn Park police were “proactively checking” on Hortman’s home due to her close proximity to Hoffman. Evans said those officers encountered the suspect, who fired at them. Police returned fire, but the gunman got away.

They got a look at him. It may have been obvious that he was not wearing a real uniform. But you're right, he could have been a cop pretending to impersonate an officer to throw us off his tracks.

[–] GrumpyDuckling@sh.itjust.works 36 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Everyone was afraid of dhs or ice coming for them, but get ready for more of this. I won't be surprised when they start going door to door and there are bodies piled up in the streets.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Remember the death squads and camps they’ve been screaming about the liberals using for years? Every accusation is a confession.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Construction companies were advertising the prison complexes they can build at the most recent Border Patrol Expo in Phoenix, AZ this year. There was also a company advertising crematoriums.

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago (3 children)

This will give another reason for trump to deploy troops. He might have not deployed to Minnesota. But this basically guarantees he will deploy troops in Minnesota.

[–] SalamenceFury@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago (2 children)

He has not talked about this at all today. Probably secretly approves of it.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 7 points 11 months ago

Nobody on Truth Social has brought it to his attention.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Or approved it.

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The other scary idea is trump using this to deploy federal military "security" with every senator/government representative. A few troops just waiting on the order 66 call

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Kinda scary cause this sounds pretty realistic =(

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 13 points 11 months ago

Minnesota was already on his list, and I imagine you're right. I wonder how they'll spin these murders, considering it's their people pulling the triggers. I wouldn't be surprised if the police uniforms the shooters used were given to them by actual cops. Minnesota has a long history of corrupt law enforcement.

[–] admiralpatrick@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Per rule 4: Can you please update the post title to match that of the source article? Thanks.

Ft. Sumter vibes

[–] S_H_K@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Is the writer high or IA? The article is unreadable or is there some trick I didn't get? WTF I barely understood that a tall man was suspect and that's all.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

If the wording is so bad, presume it is AI written.
