How in the actual fuck has no one said Face/Off?

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That was Travolta playing both roles

[–] FeelzGoodMan420@eviltoast.org 10 points 1 year ago

Haha lore-wise very true.

The Rock and Con Air are tied for me. Con Air's cast is star studded and Nic Cage with a southern accent is fantastic.

"Put the Bunny back in the box."

[–] paequ2@lemmy.today 6 points 1 year ago

Nobody move or the bunny gets it!

[–] sevon@lemmy.kde.social 6 points 1 year ago

You're god damn right with that opinion

Lord of War

Here's the intro to Lord of War. I love the little smirk he pulls off at about 45s.

"The color from outer space"

His slow descent into madness is great. It's like him turning the Cage knob very slowly from 0 to 11.

Also imo the best Lovecraft adaption.

Edit: "Color out of Space" is the correct title. Thanks to the commenter below.

Raising Arizona

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Rock. I'll be taking no further questions.

Carla was the prom queen

[–] TVA@thebrainbin.org 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Con Air ... why? No clue, I would have thought I'd go with Lord of War, but Con Air immediately popped into my head when I read the question, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Put. The bunny. Back."

Pig, amazing film with a very subtle performance. The scene at the restaurant is absolutely brutal yet without any violence.

Face/Off. Golden desert eagles, Nic Cage at his cagiest, John Travolta and Nic Cage swapping bodies, legitimately great action scenes, and Nic Cage grabbing a woman's ass while wearing a priest costume. Just an incredible movie.

Another vote for Raising Arizona, although it is a close tie with Wild at Heart.

I love "Matchstick Men." Great plot. Fun characters. Chef's kiss Cage freak-out towards the end.

Mandy. It’s a balls to the wall thrill ride of psychedelic mayhem. Oh and amazing soundtrack.

Raising Arizona by miles for me

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Color Out of Space, I think he does really well in that and it's scary as fuck.

The Wicker Man, because of the scene with the bees is priceless.

And of course, Mandy. I will not elaborate further, just watch it.

Kickass is the best surprise nic cage film.
Lord of war is the best serious cage.
Bangkok dangerous is the most cage being cage film.

Plenty of The Rock and Con Air mentions, so I’m going to toss one out for Gone in 60 Seconds.

Yes the writing is terrible and it has its fair share of cringe moments, but damnit I still like it. Perhaps it was the cast, or the weird 90’s/00’s aesthetic, or maybe because I was still in my formative teen years, pre 9/11, aka the before times, but it holds a special place in my heart.

My wife and I watched Moonstruck for the first time and when she saw Cage her reaction was: “that’s Nic Cage? Wtf he’s so hot!” If you were Cher which brother would you choose? We all know it’s Cage

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Con Air and Con Air

[–] JakenVeina@midwest.social 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not one single mention for Gone in Sixty Seconds?

Lemmings... do I have bad taste?

Adaptation.

It's got twice as many Nick's, and the Tiger King getting Maryl Streep addicted to drugs

[–] FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au 9 points 1 year ago

The Rock. Peak cage, Connery being great, and an amazing setting.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 9 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I laughed my arse off at 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent'. A classic farce like you don't get much these days.

Definitely Raising Arizona and Con Air!

I feel like these are the kinds of conversations that should be happening in the movie communities instead of just corporate greed post after corporate greed post.

Matchstick Men anyone, or just me?

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Leaving Las Vegas.

…just kidding. That movie was depressing as fuck.

Raising Arizona was his best movie.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Next (2007) was quite good actually.

Raising Arizona or Wild At Heart

[–] twice_hatch@midwest.social 6 points 1 year ago

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptation_(film)

It was weird and sometimes I like a good weird

[–] Libra@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Raising Arizona. It's just a wild ride start to finish. Also like Con Air.

[–] Badabinski@kbin.earth 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pig. It was INCREDIBLY emotionally effective and made me cry SO HARD FOR LIKE 20 MINUTES. Holy shit what a good movie.

Adaptation, because it’s more Nic Cage!

[–] Usernameblankface@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Ghost rider, for the mayhem and lots of fire everywhere!

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Con Air, hooray for the sounds of fucking silence!
