Title skips the part that says “Let them take out (the cities)”

Fucking idiot.

“President Donald Trump suggested that Iran could "take out" Los Angeles and San Diego if it were allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, drawing condemnation from California leaders, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, who called the remarks "deranged and dangerous."

No other party affiliation suggests killing their opposing party more than maga republicans and especially this stupid fucking pedophile. The only reason he said this is because these are the largest blue cities in California. He's a scared fat piece of shit, as he should be.

Major sanewashing here. What he was saying was that he'd be fine with it, and his bloodthirsty, genocidal fans cheered him for it.

Yes, so much worse. It's journalistic malpractice for ABC to strip the actual intent like this.

The Republican base has basically never forgiven the rest of us for desegregation, and they've been pining for their revenge ever since. Murdering liberals has been standard conservative cooler talk for at least 30 years.

I wish I could say this outburst surprised me but it doesn't.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Union should have shot/hung more Confederates.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

This time we won't make the same mistake. Count on it.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 4 points 2 weeks ago

Underrated take. They’ve been seething since the civil war.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Oh, not even slightly. This didn't start with Trump, he just said it out loud where everyone could hear.

[–] Major_Tsiom@fedia.io 11 points 2 weeks ago

God dammit, old man! Why won't you DIE?!!

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 8 points 2 weeks ago

Always great to see that he has our best interests at heart.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Republicans are motivated by fear, and lack the empathy to realize other people think differently.

It's why with 5 minutes of training you can determine political party affiliation with like 80% accuracy in a count that has lower that 80% voter turnout.

It's not a permanent difference, even well into your 60s it can change.

But that's why Trump thinks this would gain votes in Cali, they assume if Dems are afraid they'll vote R. Which did kind of happen after 9/11. But a hypothetical isn't going to be the same.

If I survive to see a day when this sad excuse for an ape loses its ability to convert oxygen to carbon dioxide at will, the wave of relief and joy I'll feel will be tantalizing. I've never been great at delayed satisfaction, but in this case it'll be well worth it.

It's going to be the biggest spontaneous global party in living memory.

Can't wait to see the conservatives crying about 'decorum' and 'respect' while people from Chicago to Cairo are dancing in the street at the news.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

San Diego is the home of the pacific fleet, second largest US navel base. It is also home of Camp Pendleton, west coast headquarters for the marine corps. Between San Diego and Los Angeles is the Seal Beach Navel Weapons station, a major munitions depot.

What a fucking moron.

[–] cheat700000007@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

And is filled with veterans.

So fuck them again / more I guess.

[–] shutz@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Where do I go to get my own navel weapon? It seems like all I have, right now, is a pointless hole that does nothing useful.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

First you have to get an Audi

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They'd take out DC first, and maybe Mar-a-lago for funzies.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Keep in mind the source of this brilliant idea comes from trump - Iran's leadership are by and large evil bastards, but they're not anything like as stupid as that orange clown; there's no world where Iran would attack the US mainland, because they're relying on the vast lack of US political will to continue to keep trump's wild despotic aspirations in check. Obliterating LA would similarly obliterate the hesitation to endanger US assets, and would end very badly for everyone involved.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

True, if they get a nuclear weapon (which they 100% should do) they'll probably aim it at Abu Dhabi and Riyadh and let the implications do their work.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I find the idea that nuclear proliferation to theocratic despots could in any way be a positive development a little... difficult to believe. It's bad enough with the nuclear states we have now - we don't need another Israel in the region. Although, a nuclear Muslim state would give us all three major branches of the abrahamic religions. Terrifying sure, but think of what a nice symmetry it would give to geopolitics...

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I find the idea that nuclear proliferation to theocratic despots could in any way be a positive development a little... difficult to believe.

It'd definitely restrain Israel and crew, and the Iranian regime isn't dumb enough to actually use a nuke.

It's bad enough with the nuclear states we have now - we don't need another Israel in the region.

That's basically reasoning from vibes so there's really nothing for me to say here without a thought process I can respond to, but also for example the Soviets getting nukes was definitely an improvement over only America having them. Deterrence works.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

"A well armed (global) populace has nothing to fear" is certainly an outlook one can have - though I think it's rather myopic, I'm not really interested in getting into a debate about the hypothetical benefits to giving nukes to a brutally repressive theocracy right now. I hope you have a very nice day.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Didn't this fucker already threaten to nuke LA himself?

Trump is way more of a threat to LA than Iran ever could be.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, and so could Papa New Guinea. Turns out you can say any kind of random bullshit.

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I think the Iranians just want to fuck with Trump so if they pull off attacks in the US they'll all be in republican cities and states.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

A fascist strongman wants few things more than an attack that kills many but is ultimately economically superficial.

Edit: damn, LA's GDP is $1.7T. I still stick by my statement. Mr $2.5T debt a year would probably be excited at the faster timeline to crash the dollar. Most dictators want to maintain their country. trump does not.

[–] PaupersSerenade@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

If LA were to get hit basically all shipments via the Pacific (China, Japan, Korea) will get absolutely FUBAR’d. LA/LB are the top two US ports. Period. It’s a huge complex that would take I’d guess a decade of very diligent work to build something like it again; if a suitable location could even be found.

If SD gets hit our Navy is fucked. Pendleton is massive in scope and scale. If you drive down the 5 from OC to SD you’re surrounded by military owned land for the majority of the drive.

CA is the WORLD’s 4th larger economy. If CA gets hit it would create such a fundamental change to the US that it might not survive.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I completely agree.

The magnitude of destruction at an attack like that would be exactly what trump's techbro handlers are looking for. They want to split the US into several fiefdoms, each ruled by a tech demigod.

This is why trump is "paradoxically" running the country he "wants to be dictator of" into the ground.

[–] mHtt@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

it needs to get so bad that Americans never do it again, and Im starting to think the US is just gonna shrug this next couple years off like its nothin. the new normal.

i hope im wrong.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

If Greenland becomes a super power with nuclear weapons, they could fire those nukes at the entire US... Wherever you live, this could effect you. You could say Greenland may be the greatest threat the world has ever seen, posing as a small incapable region of Denmark.

This is why I have decided to preemptively send troops and private oil companies in to stop this. I'm calling it my big beautiful invasion, it's gonna be peaceful and we're gonna make them pay for it.

Guess who's gonna pay me to invade them? I have all these guys, big business guys, they're oil guys so they're all really rich... And they're saying to me "Mr. Trump! Mr.Trump! It's okay Mr. Trump, we'll pay for it".

I'm kidding! He doesn't talk this way anymore. These days he gurgles and sounds like a dementia patient who just shat his pants...

....because he's a dementia patient who's just shat his pants. He's also ALWAYS BEEN an overtly corrupt insider. Voters just didn't realize it because they were upset at the establishment system and desperately wanted something different!

[–] Iusedtobeanalien@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

someone needs to ask him how far he thinks Iran's missiles can travel

[–] IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com -1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

We are being played out, his drama is a distraction. Stop adding to the drama, because that is exactly what they want from you/us, that's the goal. Just observe, and never react from emotion, including posting comments online.

The drama divides, wastes time, separates the people, and creates points of leverage for control. Trump is most likely a fall guy, and the real threat is behind the scenes. So they are using Trump's (and maga etc) antics as distraction so people will place energy on them instead of the real problem.

And the real problem could possibly be more dark than what people believe.

[–] andyburke@kbin.earth 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Enough with the "5d chess" bullshit. It's not. They are literally this fucking dumb and it's ok and correct to be angry they're destroying the country.
