Surprisingly, that man is an established rapist and has neither apologized for nor retracted the ad....

[–] inari@piefed.zip 34 points 6 days ago

No surprises there

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago

Because he's a racist cunt

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

The thing is, you could censor the p and it works for both p and c

He's a ra*ist

Coming from a convicted rapist “fair shake” is very likely being given essays, a slap on the wrist, and no chance of formal convictions.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 30 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I'm still shocked they made them write essays, no punishment at all would actually be less insulting.

How does one even begin with a "I'm sorry I did one of the worst crimes imaginable." essay with a straight face? I almost wanna read the essays because I'm sure they'll make me sick and I fucking hate myself.

[–] xtr0n@sh.itjust.works 13 points 6 days ago

I don’t undestand how they could even attempt to write something that shows any true contrition. Leaving aside the question of whether any of them actually believe that they did anything wrong and feel regret, wouldn't writing any truly meaningful esaay leave them open to procecution? (Although, I guess that would only br a risk if we lived in a world where the police and procecutors give a shit).

I doubt any of them went that far. There's no way they'd admit guilt in an essay. These kids have lawyers.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

How do you right an "I'm sorry" Essay, without taking responsibility?

[–] Zacpod@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I imagine something like: "It's unfortunate that I got caught. Next time I'll be sure to keep the fun off electeonic communicating platforms. I'm sorry daddy, I'll be more careful next time."

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He's not a convicted rapist. It was a civil case, which is about liability, not guilt. There's no such thing as conviction or acquittal.

He's a man a jury found to be liable for sexual assault, and that's how we should describe him.

It's important that we be correct, because the other side jumps on any tiny thing that's slightly wrong to justify their outrageous lies. Don't give ammunition to the "both sides" assholes.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

You can't help but give ammunition to "both sides assholes", because it's bOtH sIdEs!

Also, we're the majority now (40% of voters are independents). Because your party sucks

You should support whomever demands the truth; they're not the assholes. the truth hurts, take your medicine

[–] adjectivenoun@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I don't know why you're attacking that dude. He's right. Trump wasn't technically "convicted" of rape like he was convicted of 34 felonies for fraud. He was found liable for defamation for lying about his sexual assault (colloquially accepted as rape) of E Jean Carroll. A jury found it more likely than not that he raped Carroll and lied about it. That a jury said, "yeah he probably raped her" is damning enough.

[–] xtr0n@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago

I’ve seen the term “ajudicated rapist” used a bunch. Basically the judge did assert that Trump did sexually assault Carol but since it wasn’t a criminal trial, he was ajudicated, not convicted. If I recall correctly, NY pretty much only considered an incident to be rape if it penetrative and using a penis, so that’s why it’s SA rather than rape. I think their laws are different now so it would be considered rape today.

For context this is in reference to Trump's reaction to the Central Park Five in the 90s in New York City (I think the 90s?)

[–] AviAdi@suppo.fi 8 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Yea at his fucking ad was after evidence came out proving their innocence. POTUS and all his fucking goons deserve the death penalty

The incident was in 89 but yeah

[–] cm0002@lemy.lol 36 points 6 days ago

I'm surprised he hasn't invited them to the Whitehouse for a dinner yet sad lol

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Crowdfund a full page ad that is an updated version of his Central park 5 and but with the Cornell 7 boys info and a bonus panel of Trump's sexual assault record.

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 days ago

Great idea!

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 26 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Law protects but doesn't bind, law binds but doesn't protect...

As a Son of The Revolution, that needs to be fixed.

Washington wasn't wrong when he cautioned against partisan politics. He said we shouldn't do it as he left office and that lasted all of an hour before we created the partisan politics that has been destroying us ever since. None of them knew that FPTP would be as detrimental as it is. That math wasn't done until the mid 1800s.

Washington was wrong about plenty of other things, but not that.

First past the post (aka winner take all) election system. It's one of the worst systems, but somewhat common. The US is a notable user of it.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 15 points 6 days ago (5 children)

I don't watch the news anymore because it feels manufactured. Who's defending the rapists?

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 22 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Trump is defending the Cornell Rapists after having taken out a full page ad demanding the death penalty for the falsely accused Central Park Five.

[–] anton@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 6 days ago

I think trump took out that add and defending white rapists certainly fits his modus operandi.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 13 points 6 days ago (9 children)

Tons of people are claiming that it's a "Men's Rights Issue" and that if she consented to sex, she consented to rape. A lot of "Regret is not rape" bullshit that ignores the fact that she initially consented, but then seven people raped her.

I'd ask whether that's legal, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore

Used his unearned wealth and power vested therein to spread bigotry, social sway and misinformation in one case. Then, uses position at head of political cult, White Nationalism and as "potus" in the second. Immoral and unethical in both. With the "potus'" place in the Justice System of the USA, not theirs to comment in any other than a neutral manner for fear of swaying opinions concerning the matter.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

And the American media seems perfectly OK with it.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

.. because they learned something from the previous experience, right‽
