What's the argument for having it before the number?
I actually kind of like it written that way because it follows the standard for other units. It should be quantity and then unit. 50 m. 0Β°C. 50%. 2:00 PM.
You yourself recognize that that's the way we say it, and even write it out long form. 50 dollars.
Sure, historically, $50 has been the correct way to write it, but language changes. Why not make a change that makes English more consistent?
I take issue with the claim that % and PM are units.
I will cocede PM is not a unit, but % is at least an honoray unit of measurement based on how it's used [1].
Time is weird. A duration has a unit associated with it, seconds, minutes, hours, but an absolute time doesn't. That is unless we're using an epoch. I could say today started at 1788652800 seconds if we're using unix epoch.
I guess that's because time is a coordinate system. 2 PM is designating a specific point in that coordinate system. There's no origin (unless epoch specified), so we can't have an absolute measurement, so we don't have units associated with it. PM just feels similar to a unit because it is part of a coordinate system.
Some places like it both ways. In Japan if you write Β₯100 it goes before, but if you use the other local symbol it goes after, as in 100ε.
The other poster is likely from the US. Nothing is consistent in the US.

Religion, organized religion should be considered a mental illness, prove me wrong.
Anything that teaches hate, promotes superiority, or considers anyone less because they choose to believe (or not) in something elseβ¦ all for a deity that canβt seemed to be bothered to actually smite those very people religions claims to truly despiseβ¦

Believing in some deity is also ok, people can have their thoughts, as long as it does not harm others. A lot of people believing in some form of god, get solace out of it, so if it is, what they need to get by in this shitty world, good for them. Not all delusions are harmful.
What is not ok, is taking part in and enabling evil religious systems, and using those beliefs as an excuse for hatred, discrimination, oppression and even war. The religious folks following the actual teachings of their religions is usually fine, as those tend to be pretty good (help others, love everyone and do not hate, etc.). Also a drastic contrast to the other, fundamentalist sides doing the opposite, cherrypicking what suits them out of the beliefs, and pretending their religion justifies their evil actions.
(And I am an atheist myself, if that matters, for the context.)
Churches are called out as an exception to the delusion diagnosis in the DSM.
The mental health profession knows.
