Alternative joke: try to figure out how to exit
I haven't bothered to poke it deeply. What options do you use please? I'll give it a go. :)
It's so tiresome.
I've had seven heart attacks, a below-knee amputation, and I'm on dialysis for kidney failure, and I'm 51. I also had a saddle pulmonary embolism in 2017 that kills most people that have them, so I'm already living on "borrowed time" as it were. I'll link you to my story if you're curious, but anyway… I'm likely to last less than another decade, I think. And that sucks, but c'est la vie.
Here's what I live for:
We read about people who Made History™ and who were Important People™, but the extreme vast majority of people were born, grew up, worked and lived their lives, and died and were forgotten. And that's okay! Once you're gone, there won't be a you to worry about anything!
There is no goal to life other than to live it. But if you can, while taking care of yourself, do a little good in some way: That is worth doing.
So make sure you're doing things that are fulfilling, and try to worry less about comparing yourself to some sort of super-human you could never live up to - especially not some fictionalized superhero that doesn't even exist.
I'm completely atheist these days, but I still like the Wiccan Rede's version of what many more might know as the Golden Rule: "An' it harm none, do as ye will." This opens you up to being free to doing anything that doesn't cause harm. But an important thing to consider: Not only do not do harm to others, but do not do harm to yourself.
And one subtle self-harm is putting all your energy into worrying about some sort of legacy and trying to live up to artificial responsibilities at the expense of enjoying life. So don't do that.
Introspection is good. Thinking about these things is good. Just don't let thinking about it take over.
If you still feel like you should be doing "more", finding a place to put energy into volunteering is probably the answer. Find a cause you can believe in and think is valuable. You could mentor others - younger or old on whatever topics you're comfortable with. You could volunteer at an animal shelter. Or in the arts. Or any number of places that always need people helping out.
Don't limit yourself by thinking it has to be big to be helpful.
I had a few phones before my first pixel and always struggled to run apps - there wasn't much space in those days, or much in the way of processor or memory.
I think my first Pixel was in the 2 era. I remember my wife or I had a 3 - and I think it was a 3a at that, but I don't care THAT much to remember too precisely.
I know after that I had a 4a, then a 6a, just because that's when I needed to replace phones because the battery was starting to get annoying, or in the case of the 6a, the charge port was blocked and it didn't have wireless charging, and financing though Fi was a better deal than trying to fix the phone.
I've had an 8a for over a year so far.
All of the Pixels have been good for me. I consider battery to be a normal thing - I preferred the old days with removable batteries, but this is the current life we have, so whatever.
I can't afford to buy bleeding edge, but I like my pixels. They don't feel bloated to me, and I've been able to easily disable the behaviours I don't like, which aren't many.
I do appreciate the camera.
When it's time to replace this one...... I'll see what the cheaper pixel looks like and it will quite possibly be what I go with. My phone does everything I want from it. Maybe it gets a little warm while taking video or doing things that can eat battery when it gets warm, but 99% of the time, it lasts all day, does whatever I need it to - just fine.
Skeptic in you can be skeptical, but the simple fact is that it doesn't matter what happens, they will claim voter fraud no matter what. I no longer care about anything anyone does that "will cause them to respond X" because they will anyway. heh
So basically… disenfranchising minorities increases the vote? DISENFRANCHISE ALL THE MINORITIES!!!! /s /s /s

Again, the toddler-in-chief has lost interest and doesn't care. Another few days and he'll ridicule reporters asking him about it. Ugh.
Again, our primary problem is our oligarchs. That's the first problem we need to solve. Everything else is secondary. Important. But secondary.
It's illegal to be outside the US but don't worry I'll send ICE to get you all nice and deported. /s
(the /s is silly not sarcastic in this case, btw)
I spent too much time looking for a source article before I noticed where this was posted. Nicely done. oof. lol
Nice, thanks!
For anyone wondering about the options: https://i.imgur.com/hAjTxJO.png
Also, apparently you can create
~/.nanorcand put the following in for those (instead of an alias):set smarthome
set boldtext
set tabstospaces
set multibuffer
set tabsize 4
set zap
set showcursor
set autoindent
set linenumbers
set mouse
set indicator
set saveonexit
set stateflags
set minibar
I'll play around with those and the syntax stuff. I definitely personally do not want the saveonexit behaviour, but you've started me on the path of looking at the other options, and that right there shows me it's worth my time to look, so thank you :)
