80s kid here, we learned on typewriters and the shared apple ii in the library. I was good at it because I knew piano and it just settled easy in my mind.

I made it mandatory for my kids to learn because I just knew this shit would be needed. Also didn’t allow for short words like LOL until they could type it out. Daughter got to a point where her “laugh out loud” was amazingly fast and she begged me to let her “be normal” lmfao.

You probably don’t want me there trying to enact change. It’s gonna get messy.

Jokes on them, I stay away from all products that advertise to me unless I need said product and go searching for it.

Fellow OG. I remember. The day it was close to hitting 5gb I was watching it like an every guy watches their car odometer as it hits some magic number. It was worthy of celebration.

1gb back then was 5x the allowed size for my exchange mailbox at work. HUGE!

Anyone else remember when Google bragged about never being worried about storage as you watched your storage free count, grow and grow and grow.

That is a perfect Tl;dr. Heh

I borrowed money to pay for it. I was lucky, very lucky.

We don’t talk about BTC.. cough cough over 1000 and went, “well that’s boring” and deleted the wallet. Wasn’t even worth a pizza but looked cool and I had extra compute at the office that was just doing SETI work.

But I would have sold that shit too the moment it hit $1.

Me looking back at 20yr old me who sold stock for the company I worked for 5 weeks before we were bought out by a large teleco company for $4 a share. When hired I was granted 200k options at .14c each and sold for .30 each. Bought a house with that downpayment, could have bought 4 with the 800k… or just invested with 11% returns for 25 years (-50% for divorce)…

As a parent, we will do anything to entertain our children that requires near zero effort. I could walk around the house with my kid hanging off my back (me holding his feet) and say “Where’s ??!??!” And ask everyone who i’d see in the house if they’d seen him. 5min of being goofy==lifetime kid memories for them. This pic reminds me of that.
