"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Yeah, that's not career suicide at all. She'll be working with The Daily Wire next.

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 63 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I mean, can you name a movie she’s been in since Wonder Woman? Literally the last thing I can remember from her was the video of she put out during covid of celebrities looking for attention.

[–] FluidBeef@quokk.au 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

She did some of those fake streaming blockbusters that no-one you know has ever watched or even heard of.

Did you forget the Disney movie she did? Dang, what was it called?

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Haha, I did forget that one. Was it snow white? I remember hearing it didn’t do very well.

I'm trying to decide if the acting would be worse if it was the real Gal Gadot or an AI version...

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 40 points 1 month ago

That is a surprisingly difficult question, yet also fun to think about!

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

shes the physical manifestation of an AI generated woman, like "AVA" from all those posters, the male equivalent would be the rock.

AI would definitely be too human.

The train has left the station? Fine. That's definitely not the train I want to be on.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 1 month ago

"The train has left the station, so I must profit immensely from it."

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 month ago (3 children)

That's the thing about trains if you miss one there won't be another one coming, ever.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And, of course, they only ever go in one direction, with one destination.

I cannot wait for this to become a huge critical and commercial failure. It has the potential to give AI the massive setback it deserves.

[–] Klear@piefed.world 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's gonna be an utter failure critically. It will make a shitton of money from people wanting to see how bad it is.

Crypto bros 🤝Slop sisters

"THIS IS THE FUTURE! GET ON BOARD OR GET LEFT BEHIND!"

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My school district hired a new superintendent last year. When he gave his introductory presentation, he included a bit about how AI was here to stay and we were just going to have to live with it and use it. Something that is objectively making kids dumber and the school super is completely on board with it.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Heh, my kid said that the school required that teachers play a presentation from the school board. The topic was that using AI was cheating, and not to do it. Also, they used AI to make the presentation.

English people in 19th century China: Opium is inevitable. You're going to work with it or be left out of the game entirely.

She found a vehicle where her acting won't be the most artificial thing in the room.

The change towards AI entertainment is inevitable, I for once can't wait for all that low quality crap that is release every year to be fully-AI so I can filter it out, and stuff with real artistic merit and passion becomes easier to find

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 17 points 1 month ago (4 children)

stuff with real artistic merit and passion becomes easier to find

How so? Because there's going to be 10x more slop out there, none of it labeled as slop. And every safe space you have now will be invaded by slop pretending to be made by real people.

Fuck I miss the time when I could just watch a movie and think "ooh that actress is hot", without having to consider their position on Israel or crypto.

Incredible. I chuckled at that first paragraph for being extreme satire. Then read the rest.

It's just not possible to outdo reality anymore.

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago

She is an Israeli agent, wouldn't expect anything less from her. Of course she would consider lives and contributions of others too be less valuable.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I know what you're thinking, but what if a zionist made a movie about crypto?

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

You're so close to gold. I'd only add one tiny tweak: what if we let AI shit it out?

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 25 points 1 month ago

JFC. Can we hear the thoughts of an actor that can actually act?

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm glad she's doing it so it's one step closer for her acting career to be over.

[–] neo2478@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago

I mean, the AI "actors" will for sure have more screen presence and acting abilities than her.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Gal Gadot looks AI generated herself.

So will she still be singing the same tune when AI steals her likeness and voice and begins producing feature length films without her consent or approval, and pays $0 in royalties, and gives no acknowledgement in the credits?

It's like bragging that you were first aboard a train with blown-out tracks and taunting the people who refused to get on.

Yeah I'm fine with getting left behind. I won't watch AI garbage movies.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Is this photo of her AI or if not what is wrong with her face? I can't put my finger on it but its off, it gives me sound garden / black hole sun vibes and the heebeejeebees somehow

[–] Crazazy@feddit.nl 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Perhaps it's her trying to smile without showing any wrinkles on her face. I think it's a learned technique

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 12 points 1 month ago

smile without showing any wrinkles

Who in their right mind thinks a soulless smile is better than acknowledging the perfectly normal phenomenon that people's faces wrinkle when they laugh?

God, those ghouls make my skin crawl

My take on all these people who defend AI with "it's here, get on board with it or get left behind" or "get used to it", etc. I've noticed a pattern. None of them actually use it as a tool. It's CEOs, it's "writers", "songwriters", "artists", etc. (please note the air quotes!).

The people who are defending the use, but shame anyone for calling out AI use or demanding disclosure (like Tim Sweeney), I see are looking to take as many shortcuts as possible, hoping to get rich, and don't want to admit it was any use of AI (because they want all the credit). They're trying to secretly outsource talent and profit from it.

[–] cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 month ago

you got to work with it or be out of the game completely

do you though?

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Yeah like most actors, she's never struck me as the brightest bulb in the box.

[–] teslekova@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh no she Gina Carranoed herself!

What a shame. How sad for such a proud IDF ambassador.

laughs forever

She's welcome to her train because I'm reasonably confident that within 18 months it's going to have exploded.

She's certainly picked a hill to die on and I'm quite happy to indulge her.
