Oh look. They did another fascism.

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 47 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But I was told we were overreacting when we said Trump was a fascist and would do fascism.

[–] skvlp@feddit.nl 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, but it’s not like the fascists had their plan written down in a todo list or anything. Like a project or something. Scheduled for 2025 maybe.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

And it's not like they'd have some completely out of ~~left-field~~ right-field pick for some higher ranking position to write the forward to said book....

Meanwhile, when I ask my mother her opinion about this: "but Hunter Biden made so many corrupt deals and he was doing crack!"

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

Yeah, whoever voted for that hunter guy must have been an idiot

I respect that he pays sex-workers for sex and doesn’t offer them gigs on TV shows that he never intends to deliver on in order to score a freebie by cornering a woman in a hotel room. Rape by another name in my opinion.

MTG was obsessed with his dong.

[–] DaveyRocket@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Most sane MTG obsession.

He didn’t.

[–] LucidNightmare@anarchist.nexus 64 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Same people who looked you dead in the face and said, “It’s government overreach to require masks!” BTW

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

In all fairness they only understood 4 of the 10 words they repeated.

[–] Kyrias@lemmy.ca 59 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Isn't it pretty easy in the US?

For some reason people need to register with their government what their political affiliation is. Not sure if any other country in the world does this but it's stupid as fuck for every reason.

[–] deaconblackhorse@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (4 children)

You don't need to register your political affiliation in the us. You can register as independent. As far as i know it just dictates what ballot you'll get (which is silly)

[–] Kyrias@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's still registering your political affiliation with the government.

Which is still fucked up.

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s unaffiliated. Independent is a party. Unaffiliated is no party.

[–] sevan@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

In some states "Independent" is a party, in others it mean unaffiliated.

[–] voytrekk@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

It varies based on state. In Ohio, I select the ballot I want for primaries when I go to vote despite not being registered for any political party.

[–] wedge@multiverse.soulism.net 5 points 1 month ago

You have to be registered with a party to take place in that party’s rigged primaries.

[–] lemmyvore@feddit.nl 1 points 1 month ago

Who wants to bet we'll see attempts to nullify votes that don't fit the declared affiliation before the next elections are over?

[–] 666dollarfootlong@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Yea it never made any sense to me

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago

Not all states collect political affiliations, but in any case, you don't have to register a party. I have been an Unaffiliated Independent since I first registered to vote in 1977. I can't vote in primaries, but neither party can count on my vote, and they have to earn it every election.

[–] MacAttak8@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

State primary gives ballots with both major parties and tells you to only fill out one of the sides. Meaning your affiliation is not registered with the state.

[–] dreamkeeper@literature.cafe 2 points 1 month ago

Only some states do that. Mine doesn't

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 25 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

My political affiliation is try, convict, and execute every politician, except maybe a couple dozen. With due process. Pretty sure I can say that still.

Man, this is funny, I love this guy, thanks for sharing, bookmarked.

Still, I'm begrudgingly impressed that someone working directly for Hegseth has the technical wherewithal to put together a database.

It'll turn out to be an Excel spreadsheet with no formatting rules.

[–] Techromantik@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Poison their data? Everyone change their political affiliation to NPA. Then vote however you want.

[–] spacegoat@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Many states have closed primaries

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think you can freely change affiliations in those states prior to the election, as a lot of people join the other party to vote for the guy that they think is less electable when they know their own guy already is going to get it.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

to vote for the guy that they think is less electable when they know their own guy already is going to get it.

I can't even compute why anyone would want to do that, much less imagine ‘a lot of people’ doing it. Is that, like, throwing a pity bone to the less-electable guy? Could this be how the US got Trump?

Yall's political shenanigans are fun, but you need ranked voting yesterday.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 3 points 1 month ago

Oh it makes a lot of sense if the ones pushing the strategy know the electorate. The democrats don't clearly. It is a part of how the prez got elected I am sure, but if done right it is quite effective.

Late night ICE visits aren't far off.

[–] TIEPilot@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)
[–] Stupidmanager@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Yep. Most states already do this and have for a long time. It’s not freely accessible and searchable, but you only need to know the information of the person to find more info on the states page.

I’m a socialist liberal who thinks Donald Trump should be struck into a conscious but unable to communicate vegetative state. Ya fuck wits, register that.

I would love for him to get locked in syndrome for a few years before he dies. It would be hell on Earth for a narcissist.

I want the government to treat this epidemic of lead deficiency in our political and business class. With due process.

Is there a party for that? That is going to be popular-er as we go here. The fuck all the politicians to death party if you will. With due process.

They are, technically.

Do you have confidence the government would actually give them to the public?

It never hurts unless you try, but I suspect filling a FOIA for them will land you on the list.
