I mean this with every fiber of my being: fuck Israel. Sadistic fucks are going to burn the whole world down.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

FUCK REPUBLICANS THEY ARE ENABLING ALL OF THIS!!

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Pete is a stain on America. Renames himself to Secretary of War, loses his first war. What a moron. Can't wait for the day justice finds him.

I mean, it’s not a bad play to stop Israel’s genociding. To be clear, Iran’s regime is evil, they treat their people, especially women, terribly. Meanwhile, Israel has gone off the rails and there doesn’t seem to be a single western power willing to sit them down and have an intervention to get them off this bender of blood and ruin.

So, Iran, of all people, is going to force the point by closing the straight until they do.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Iran only exists in this form because of the US and Israel. They were a flourishing culture until interfered with.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Israel won't stop.

But this might cause Trump to stop sending them weapons, which will give their victims a better chance at winning.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Trump is more likely to start dropping nukes on Iran than to reign in Israel.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Have you been paying attention to the shut he's been saying about Netanyaho recently?

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

He changed his mind again. He threatened to kill the Iranian diplomats today. Iran says they're not negotiating anymore and I don't blame them.

Honestly it doesn't matter what Trump says because he will forget it in less than day. His dementia is advancing quickly.

[–] godlessworm@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

i'm speaking as an iranian american, respectfully, you need to come to terms with that and accept that you don't actually know anything about iran, or really, a lot of the countries you probably think are "evil". your entire life has been a brainwashing and lying campaign by your government and the corporations that control it. they want you to think the iranian government is evil so they can manufacture consent. it's literally that simple, and you repeating their point of view, or prefacing your "maybe we shouldn't indiscriminately kill civilians" opinion with their talking points only goes to serve their goals.

and before anybody's brainwashing kicks in;

you not agreeing with the iranian way of life doesn't make the government evil, and whether you want to accept it or not, most iranians do support their government. no, the iranian people are not brainwashed or stupid, you just have been misinformed about life in iran and how the government functions. example; my father was caught on a bus with alcohol. he was "sentenced" to 15 lashes. in reality he sat in a holding cell for 2 days then went home. whether or not you agree with the prohibition of alcohol is irrelevant

another example, and i'll preface this by saying i'm not trying to paint life in iran as easy, but in iran, the government actually does things to try and make life for its citizens livable despite the conditions america has created for the country. the government tries to make sure housing is affordable, provides healthcare and full education. women are on average MORE educated than men and leagues more educated than both men and women in any western country so i think it's funny americans have this idea that iranian women are so oppressed, but that's besides the point; for how "evil" the "iranian regime" is can you say that the AMERICAN government does anything like that to make life for ITS citizens better? more livable? does the US government do ANYTHING AT ALL for its citizens? anything you can point to is a handout to corporations. even the supposed "welfare state" in the US is just a handout to corporations. when a walmart worker gets food stamps, the walmart worker isn't the one benefitting in that situation, it's walmart who is saving money on labor over millions of employees american taxes pay for

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 6 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I’m not defending maga, or some of the shit that’s gone down prior in our long and sometimes sordid history. Everyone has better healthcare, undisputed. But most of my commentary here and in RL comes from this. I believe, in any place, relationship, government where women do not have the legal equality and freedom of men, I see it as evil. I include my own government and country in that estimation. Secular or religious, that context matters not at all, to me. That’s not fed by propaganda. If a woman chooses a certain life, cool. If it’s thrust upon her by circumstance, that’s different.

I am curious. How much of the story of Melina Asadi’s death and such was real and how much was propaganda? I followed those stories.

They're only trying to get Israel to do less genociding. Stopping the genocide in Gaza isn't on the table.

President Donald Trump warned Saturday that the United States could impose tolls on the vital Strait of Hormuz waterway if negotiators are unable to complete a deal to end the war in Iran.

Lol wut. So ships are going to get double tolled?

Don't threaten me with a good time, Mr. President. You might be doing more good to progress the world away from oil than any President since we learned about the climate catastrophe, ironically

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Trump is a librul PLANT who is working to push the world to woke GREEN ENERGY and destroy the beautiful family friendly fossil fuel industry!

/S, because someone might take this seriously.

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

"Why are you so obsessed with Israel? It's not like it matters in your daily life. American voters don't care about Gaza."

-You know who

No way, who could have seen this coming, I am honestly and sincerely surprised by this unanticipated development.

[–] Substance_P@lemmy.world 34 points 4 days ago

In a broadcast aried on Iranian state TV (translated)

In light of the United States' clear breach of its commitments regarding the first article of the memorandum of understanding on ending the war, and in response to the continuous and relentless violations of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime in southern Lebanon, which have resulted in the brutal killing and displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in that territory, as well as considering the failure of the occupying Zionist forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon, it is announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to vessel traffic,” Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters said in a statement on Saturday.

I'm not sure that Donvict or Hegseth have any fucking idea just what they stepped in.

Seeing these two and other flunkies and apparatchiks trying to spin this shitshow is just wild.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

There was no way to foresee this ....

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 3 days ago

That's a +$400B for the military industrial complex and the shareholders of those companies, which includes all the people who chose to go to this war.

Both sides signed that agreement. Netanyahu, the puppet master, was not party to the agreement and provides a great big F.U.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 3 days ago

But Trump can cut off funding to Israel, and their whole economy will collapse.

They're both stubborn, and Iran knows this 🍿

[–] SecretiveVault@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

Gotta keep that insider trading grift going lol
