This is just a list of reasons why you should vote for her

[–] Big_Boss_77@fedinsfw.app 47 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Probably would love to have her elected, then they can piss and moan about how horrible everything is and blame her

[–] BonsaiBoo@lemmy.world 38 points 3 weeks ago

Unironically, yes, they can’t govern and are sick of it, they have much more fun and get much higher ratings when they’re in opposition and not in control.

Unfortunately, I don’t live in Wisconsin, I live in California

[–] UniversalBasicJustice@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Fortunately* you don't live in Wisconsin.

Born and raised there; a DSA governor is a fucking fantastic step in the right direction. I'll mention her to my family but...

Wisconsin is the south of the north. I regularly drove past a Confederate flag. Milwaukee is the most segregated city in the US (or was, havent checked recently) and the GOP leans into that with a lot of ugly rhetoric.

This article is getting a little long in the tooth but is a quality deep dive into some of the very thinly veiled (or outright) systemic racism in Wisconsin.

Also; rural Grindr made me sad for queer men raised in that environment, including myself.

Sums it up pretty well

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 56 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They didn't even bother to find a diadvantegous picture of her.

Faux News, what is becoming of you? :smh:

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 58 points 3 weeks ago

They didn't even bother to find a diadvantegous picture of her.

What do you mean, we showed she's not white ~fox news

[–] notabot@piefed.social 55 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I'm beginning to wonder if someone more left leaning has infiltrated fox. The boss say "put together a hit piece on the demonrat", "sure thing boss" says our mole, before turning over this graphic. To the boss it look great, surely no one could support this! To everyone less poisoned, it looks a lot more enticing.

[–] zurohki@aussie.zone 37 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's always funny when Fox puts up radical left wing policies like taxing billionaires and supporting families and then have to scramble to take them down because even Fox viewers read them and think they sound like a good idea.

I'm not sure it's even possible to frame this list in a bad light? those are all unambiguously excellent things

[–] scutiger@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

$20 an hour minimum wage is garbage, it should be much higher.

"this radical extremist will actually do something for you instead if taking money from the rich and keeping it like it is (trickle up economics)"

Stop describing it as a "tax hike"... we want to restore fair taxation after decades of irresponsible tax breaks.

Radical left now just means "anybody"

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 24 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

When you are so far right, everyone is far left.

[–] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 15 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

That said, US politics is so bad that this platform is legitimately further left than like 95% of electeds. If this candidate is a Democrat it's likely that her own party will favor a candidate to her right in primary and if she beats them, possibly still not throw their weight behind her in the general.

Remember that the leader of the Democratic party is basically a domestic spokesperson for Israel and refuses to acknowledge support the most popular politician in his own party.

[–] PieMePlenty@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

She wants to implement free child care? What a monster! HIGHER minimum wage?! What the actual fuck?! Who wants more money?

"Tax hike on the rich" sounds offensive, I much prefer "forced wealth redistribution or decapitation" personally

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Conservative voters have been trained to dislike things that are good for them. That's why many Republican controlled areas of this country are almost indistinguishable from 3rd world countries.

Her name's Francesca, not Francesa.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

It doesn't matter, The people who watch Focks Nooz wouldn't vote for a non-red candidate even if the red candidate said they will literally come and burn down your house if you vote for them.

[–] ShotDonkey@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks for the advertisment, FOX News!

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Politician called "far-left".

Expectation: Installation of an egomaniac dictator, which will lead to cult of personality, crackdown on speech and expression based on said dictator's feelings, and installing loyalist to key positions.

Reality: Bare minimum policies.

"BUT how would be pay for all of that ???" Which, not surprisingly, doesn't ever get asked when the DOD's budget gets increased annually.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago

  • Governor - gubernatorial
  • Moon - lunar
  • Brother - fraternal
  • Eye - ocular

At what point does English admit it made an absolute mess of word forms, borrowing them randomly from different places?

[–] greedytacothief@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I kinda like it, English is a language based on vibes and theft. It's not here to make sense.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 weeks ago

English is a language that waits in a dark alley, knocks out other languages as they pass, then root through their pockets for loose grammar.

That is a strong set of policies. Too bad there's nothing about the current housing crisis, like disposessing slumlords to turn the properties into subsidised housing or giving renters the option to buy, but still strong.

[–] pedantichedgehog@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Copied and pasted from Francesca Hong's policy platform page: We’re going to make sure nobody goes to sleep cold, and that renter protections are consistently enforced. As governor, Rep. Hong will use her executive authority to bolster rental unit regulations, pursue aggressive regulation of slumlords and serial housing-law violators, and make it easier for tenants to flag issues and find support.

Ctrl+F for "housing" here: https://francescahong.com/policy/

The horror! OMG the horror. Anyway, let's try it as an experimental effort to demonstrate just how much harm socialism does to actual people. That'll teach 'em..............
