Power button? Reset button? PSU switch? Clear CMOS button?

Let's try and press them all!

[–] 30p87@feddit.org 27 points 2 weeks ago

LUKS header disk emergency destroy button? *boop!

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I pressed the button next to the power socket on the wall.

*rings doorbell*

[–] OddMinus1@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 weeks ago

I pressed my jacket button.

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 70 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That's why there's a distinction between buttons and keys

That's just shit design. Even on keyboards with Power button I've seen, they're usually distinctly shaped and coloured.

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 53 points 2 weeks ago

“Oh, I’ll need this info later, I better take a screenshot”

fatfingers the power button

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 weeks ago

Me trying to press F12 in the dark

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I love these fuckin laptops that put the power button somewhere random in the middle of the keyboard where you might accidentally press.

I can’t imagine what goes through the mind of the genius who came up with this shit. Im guessing it was some guy who worked his way up to middle management in a Chinese manufacturing sweatshop, and then managed to sell clients on the idea that they could cut costs because he knew a quick hack to run the wires to the power supply.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen such a tiny backspace key.

[–] UnrepentantAlgebra@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

More like a back-no-space key

[–] youcantreadthis@quokk.au 11 points 2 weeks ago

Just pressed my car key its very loud

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 6 points 2 weeks ago

Oooh, I think I'll order a Tab.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The late comic strip User Friendly did this best back in the day. To the point that its take on it is currently the example on its Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Friendly

[–] fraksken@infosec.pub 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I like the comic. Made me lol. The site is down and the domain unavailable. Where can I get he 13 years worth of comics?

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Internet Archive has a 184MB .cbz file that allegedly contains them all here: https://archive.org/download/user-friendly-comic. Likewise, much of the site itself is archived there.

Be aware that they're not all going to be winners like the A-N-Y strip is.

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

How about the Turbo button?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is this 1992? Where’s my dinosaur? Will someone go to prom with me?

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Just rollerblade over to my house, we'll play some Super Nintendo and drink Mello Yello.

[–] bisby@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

[–] KindnessIsPunk@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

[–] WaterSword@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 2 weeks ago

I love that guy's face, I can't NOT laugh. Damn, what's the name of the movie again??

[–] childOfMagenta@jlai.lu 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Never seen it but Monster House it seems.

[–] borth@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yess! Thank you!

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 8 points 2 weeks ago

Its worst when you ask ppl how they got in this situation and they go I dk "the last person told me to do this" knowing full well no they didnt and I have to spend an hour figurjng out wtf they did to undo it all.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I pressed the turbo button

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I'm convinced that button did nothing

[–] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It did. You used it to make your CPU slower for old timing-dependent games

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] flying_sheep@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, they probably inverted it because it's weird to market a “slow” button

[–] psud@aussie.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

My 386 had turbo on practically all the time except when playing earlier era games where half speed made them playable

It really was an unturbo button

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

My computer was just that slow

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 weeks ago

"listen here you little shit"

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

I press my belly button.
