Looks like the wars back on. Iran for once taking the initiative rather then waiting to get pummeled first. I wonder what prompted this. Presumably the US fucking around with the Navy earlier.

It is quite strange; Iran has never initiated attacks and also never not warned before attacking. I wonder if we're missing something here.

Israel and the US assassinated a bunch of the old guard, maybe this is a product of having a new Ayatollah with a lot of new leadership who don't see as much value in strategic patience against an invading empire.

I feel like there have been escalatory retoric from Iran towards UAE the last days. There have been a lot of talk regarding their alleged involvement in american strikes as well as a few of their drones being shot down over Iran.

My guess is that this is a warning to the rest of the Gulf that things wont go back to how they were and further alignment with US/Israel wont be beneficial.

EDIT: Lets also wait and see what the IRGC says - would not be the first false flag from the imperialists...

🇺🇸🇮🇷: Is the US Blockade on Iran Working?

The US claims it has absolutely cut off all Iranian exports/imports.

This is false.

Others claim the blockade is essentially non-existent citing social media claims and wishful thinking.

This is also false.

It is somewhere in between.

The US is turning back nearly as many ships as are being reported to have bypassed it.

This means the US has stopped anywhere between 40%-60% of Iranian imports/exports.

That isn't "nothing."

I particularly hear MANY analysts citing pictures on social media of meager meals US sailors are reportedly being served on US warships as evidence of deep systemic logistical failures.

I was a US Marine over 20 years ago - long before this war started. I was occasionally on ships. And each time I ate meager meals much worse than pictured.

On one occasion I was on a 3 day transit and 100s of us ate stale bread, slimy cold cuts, and rotten lettuce morning, noon, and evening until on the last day we only ate once.

Logistics are never perfect even in peacetime. Meager meals don't make operations impossible - just miserable. And that is it.

A few pictures on social media indicate gaps in logistics. Much more widespread evidence would exist if a logistical collapse was actually taking place.

Collapsing logistics manifests in operational failure.

Cutting half of a targeted nation's maritime traffic isn't failure.

Who Will Blink First, Iran or the US?

Those banking on Iran's restrictions across the Strait of Hormuz and the economic damage it is doing to US proxies forcing the US to back off first are making the wrong bet.

The US doesn't care about its proxies - and in fact - the worse things are for its proxies the easier it is for the US to exercise control over them.

Currently the US is in the process of specifically exploiting this economic crisis - assuming energy dominance over many of the nations impacted by restrictions through the Strait of Hormuz - much in the same way it did over Europe by destroying Nord Stream and sanctioning Russian energy.

The premeditated nature of this strategy - including years of preparing Asia-specific LNG export capabilities that otherwise make no economic sense - mirrors similar preparations to export LNG to Europe BEFORE Nord Stream was destroyed and the US provoked war with Russia in Ukraine.

Such conditions also make it possible for the US to impose additional control over yet-to-be proxies - nations like Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and others who have so far been managing a relatively neutral position geopolitically.

By facing reality and calling out the deliberate controlled demolition of the global economy by the US - more pressure can be placed on the US to stop - but also pressure placed on governments targeted by the US to exploit this crisis to resist US coercion.

If we pretend Iran is "defeating" the US - we'll end in an even darker nightmare than those who thought Trump was going to prevent this growing global war in the first place.

We can make the future brighter - but we have to acknowledge reality first in order to do so.

What Could We Do?

  1. Expose what the US is doing and why.

  2. Condemn it.

  3. Wake up populations in nations around the globe against the danger of falling into energy dependence on the US - citing Europe as a prime example.

  4. Invest in multipolarism - both as a general policy and trend - but also in any way we can personally.

  5. Research and promote alternative energy - encourage people to follow China's energy policy and even cooperate with China to ensure energy independence vis-a-vis Washington and Wall Street's wrecking ball foreign policy.

❗️Lebanon's Hezbollah reports close-range clash with Israeli occupation forces in south Lebanon:

"After precise monitoring of an Israeli composite force that attempted to advance in the Khallet al-Raj area in south Lebanon, north of the town of Deir Siryan, toward Zawtar al-Sharqiya at 12:30 today, and upon reaching the direct-fire range of an advanced forward position of our fighters, the fighters opened fire on the force and engaged it in a fierce close-quarters clash at point-blank range using light and medium weapons, inflicting confirmed casualties in its ranks.

Immediately, the [Israeli] enemy rushed to provide fire cover to secure the withdrawal of the force and its casualties, and deployed a number of vehicles toward the area of engagement. Our artillery unit then targeted the evacuation force with artillery shells and appropriate rocket weaponry.

Additionally, anti-aircraft machine guns belonging to our air defense units intervened to prevent Israeli helicopters from maneuvering and landing near the scene, forcing the enemy to evacuate the casualties by land toward the Misgav Am settlement, where they were later airlifted to the interior of the occupied Palestinian territories."

❗️Tel Aviv allocates hundreds of millions for settler only roads to cement West Bank annexation

The Israeli government has authorized a 1 billion shekel budget, approximately $270 million, to construct a network of roads linking illegal settlements across the occupied West Bank. This project, reported by Haaretz on Monday, follows a directive from the Netanyahu administration to expedite the integration of new outposts into Israel’s settler infrastructure. While the initial phase allocates $1 million for design work to be completed within 45 days, the broader funding is aimed at establishing permanent physical structures on the ground, effectively bypassing Palestinian population centers to facilitate rapid settler expansion.

This massive infrastructure investment comes as illegal settlement activity reaches record levels, with approximately 750,000 settlers now residing in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The move directly defies a 2024 International Court of Justice ruling that declared the occupation illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements. As the US and Israel continue their war against Lebanon and aggression against Iran, Netanyahu's government is utilizing the regional tensions to finalize the de facto annexation of Palestinian territory, further entrenching a regime of systematic discrimination and land confiscation.

❗️State backed demographic engineering threatens mass expulsion of Silwan residents in occupied Jerusalem

Human rights organization B’Tselem has issued an urgent warning regarding the escalating eviction of Palestinian families in the Silwan neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem. As of April 2026, approximately 1,800 residents are facing forced displacement, marking the most significant threat to an entire Palestinian community since 1967. These evictions are being facilitated by court rulings under a discriminatory 1970 law that allows Jewish settler organizations to claim pre-1948 properties while denying similar rights to Palestinians.

According to B’Tselem, 33 families have already been forcibly removed from their homes in the Baten al-Hawa area, with another 53 families currently at risk. Simultaneously, mass demolitions in the nearby al-Bustan district target an additional 1,450 people to make way for settler-run archaeological parks. Local community leaders and human rights advocates describe the process as a systematic campaign of demographic engineering designed to erase the Palestinian presence in the holy city.

Iranian hacker group reveals names of hundreds of US naval officers deployed to West Asia

Operation Premature Death: 400 U.S. Navy Officers Exposed by Handala

At this moment, the list of 400 senior U.S. Navy officers who, just hours ago, departed from one of the terrorist U.S. military bases in the Persian Gulf as part of Operation “Premature Death,” and are now deployed across the Gulf waters, with their ranks and operational units, has been published.

This is more than a warning, this is proof that our eyes remain wide open and ever vigilant in the heart of your fleet. The shadows of the Resistance are monitoring your every move; no vessel, no base, and no route is hidden from us.

A rapid signal alert was sent directly to the secure phones of these officers: “By choosing the path of arrogance and aggression, you have chosen premature death. The sea is no longer safe for you. On the far side of these waters, Epstein Island awaits its yellow dog navy, and we know exactly how to deliver what it needs.”

This is only a glimpse of our intelligence mastery and ability to respond. To the hostile country across the Gulf: consider this your final warning, Handala’s patience has run out. Death and destruction are waiting for you, and no base or alliance can shield you from the shadows of retribution.

We neither forgive nor forget; The executioner of justice and vengeance is closer than ever.

Breif Speculation

This facility was supposedly made to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. So I'm not entirely sure if this was targeted by Iran or. If the Imperialists did this specific attack for the sake of solidifying their blockade on the rest of the world.

I think we should wait and see what Iran has to say about this site in particular.

Edit: ~~The skepticism was rewarded.~~

Edit2: I'm dumb, I misread the IRIB report. Iran is saying that that they didn't plan on hitting it before, but since the US tried to use the port to transport the oil to bypass the straight of Hormuz, they struck it.

[–] Malkhodr@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

~~I was right to be skeptical~~

🇮🇷 BREAKING: Iran denies striking Fujairah oil facilities, blames U.S. "military adventurism" for the fire.

A knowledgeable Iranian military official told IRIB:

"The Islamic Republic had no premeditated plan to attack the mentioned oil facilities. What happened was the result of the U.S. military's adventurism to create a passage for illegal ship transit through the forbidden routes of the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military must be held accountable for it.

U.S. statesmen must end the ugly behavior of using force in diplomacy and cease military adventurism in this sensitive oil region that affects the economies of all countries worldwide."

I think they are misreading Iran's words:

The Islamic Republic had no premeditated plan to attack the mentioned oil facilities.

Which I assume means they didn't plan to attack it until the Imperialists:

to create a passage for illegal ship transit through the forbidden routes of the Strait of Hormuz.

❗️IRGC solidifies maritime grip as new map defines Iranian 'area of control' in Strait of Hormuz

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) unveiled a new operational map on Monday, formalizing its military jurisdiction over critical segments of the Strait of Hormuz. The designated "area of control", as published by Tasnim News Agency, is bounded by two strategic maritime lines: the first connecting the western tip of Qeshm Island to Umm al-Quwain in the UAE, and the second stretching from Kuh-e Mobarak to the waters south of Fujairah. This announcement serves as a direct challenge to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports that has been in place since 13 April, following the collapse of the Islamabad peace talks.

The current "dual blockade"—with US forces targeting Iranian shipping and the IRGC restricting broader Gulf traffic—has crippled global energy flows since the US and Israeli war against Iran began on 28 February. Although Donald Trump recently extended the ceasefire deadline at Pakistan’s request, the IRGC warned that any foreign military presence within these newly defined zones will be met with immediate force.

From HB news mega (post body, "Operation "Freedom" Begins")

spoiler

Below is my weekly summary/preamble, spoilered so that you can get down into the comments more easily.

spoiler preamble I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ceasefire that, for weeks, is so obviously about to be broken at any given moment and yet nonetheless continues. So-called Operation Freedom may mark a resumption of hostilities, as the US seems to once again be trying an active role in attempting to take control of the Strait of Hormuz. The initial, ridiculous claim was that the US Navy would itself be escorting ships (i.e. just getting your destroyers sunk for no reason), and as expected, this was just said to try and calm markets. Nonetheless, there is reporting that other military measures may be taken against Iran soon if they continue to keep the Strait closed, so we’ll see how that all goes.

US gas prices at the pump have hit close to record high numbers, and generally the average citizen is growing mightily displeased with Trump, even those in previously safe demographics. Unfortunately, this discontent is not immediately geopolitically relevant - as both parties are staffed from top to bottom with pro-war Zionists with only a small group of exceptions, and third parties will necessarily never be allowed to take power, there is no way for US public discontent to manifest itself in a change of policy. What is more likely to cause changes in policy will be grumbling from American capitalists, of which there are many factions. The fossil fuel capitalists seem perfectly content for this situation to continue indefinitely, with record profits. I imagine the financial sector is pretty nervous, but aren’t currently demanding Trump cease fire - same for the tech industry which has now been engulfed in AI, as the bubble seems to be close to, but not quite, popping. Smaller businesses and agriculture are perhaps the most likely to be crying uncle, but may have limited representation.

Going back to Western Asia, the situation from last week has remained broadly the same. The Zionist tactic in Southern Lebanon appears to essentially be “If we can’t occupy this land, then you won’t be able to, either,” as they are doing their utmost to physically destroy as many towns and villages on the border as possible. Hezbollah’s success at keeping Zionist territorial gains fairly minimal, and the growing onslaught of not only anti-tank guided missiles but also FPV drones causing chaos where the Zionists attempt to hold and advance, have, I believe, partially contributed to Iran not pushing the issue of a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon so far as to cause them to feel the need to resume fire on the occupied territories.

The US blockade has truly been a mixed affair. While it’s obviously quite leaky and many Iranian ships are getting through, Naked Capitalism and others have pointed out that it’s not just Iranian ships that are transporting goods, and that there are ~70 Chinese ships with Iranian oil that are much less willing to risk running the blockade. But, once again, the success of the blockade isn’t all that relevant. Iran has experienced periods of a couple years straight without meaningful oil exports and survived, and their extensive land borders make a true siege impossible - goods can and are still pouring into the country, and with Pakistan recently allowing Iranian exports through their border, as well as the Caspian Sea in the north and Iran’s railway link to China, Iranian exports can still leave just fine. Another interesting indication is that China’s government has ordered Chinese businesses to ignore US sanctions against Iranian oil, so we’ll see how that develops. And while the issue of maintaining sufficient public cohesion in the wake of economic suffering is a potential long term problem, we haven’t yet seen any meaningful scenes of public discontent inside Iran. Internal unity appears to be staying at record levels in the face of total war.

Even being as careful as possible to check my own biases, it’s difficult for me to form any other conclusion other than that Iran is winning, and people like Armchair Warlord have even pointed out that American tactical victories have been pretty minimal so far. ::: :::

⭐️French President Macron on the "Project Freedom" operation launched by Trump aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz:

"I don't really know what this initiative is."

"First and foremost, we hope to reopen a dialogue between Iran and the United States." Europe will not participate in any American attempt to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by force outside the framework of an agreement with Tehran. Europe has launched its own initiative to help reopen the strait once hostilities end, but it will not participate in any other operation led by the United States.

— Today’s drone attack is, in fact, a small test for a potential full-scale war in the future.

The Habshan–Fujairah pipeline, with a capacity of 1.5 million barrels /day, expandable to 1.8 million, is UAE’s last hope for bypassing the Strait of Hormuz and exporting oil and petroleum products.

If the situation escalates into a full-scale infrastructure war, this pipeline, with Saudi Arabia’s Jubail–Yanbu pipeline, will likely be among Iran’s first & heavy attacks, which will likely put it out of operation.

With Hormoz closed and Fujairah out of operation, the UAE will have no option to export its oil & other products.

DROP SITE NEWS: 💢 A senior Iranian official tells Drop Site another U.S. attack is likely

🔸 “Based on current assessments, another military attack seems likely,” the official tells Jeremy Scahill.
🔸 Says Trump’s blockade has failed to achieve its goals.
🔸Adds Trump “can’t keep the blockade going much longer” — increasing pressure to act.
🔸 Warns the U.S. will likely escalate to try to force a result.

🔹Expects escalation to focus on:
➤ Hormuz and Iran’s coastline
➤ Expanded military operations
➤ A new wave of assassinations of Iranian leaders, potentially with Israel

🔹Why Iran thinks this:
➤ Trump can’t sustain the blockade indefinitely
➤ He needs a visible outcome or ‘win’
➤ Escalation becomes the fallback option

🔹Iran’s posture in response:
➤ Preparing for retaliation across the region
➤ Has rebuilt defenses during the ceasefire
➤ And developed new target lists

Full new report from Jeremy Scahill here https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/trump-iran-war-threats-hormuz-israel

Also, interesting piece of information from the reporting:

“If this new scenario ends up becoming contested, in which the risk of war is still there, looming in the background, in which there isn’t full acceptance and as a result you also don’t have a full flow of oil, that will ensure that the international markets are going to try to reduce the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz,” Parsi said. “In that scenario, Iran needs to also have an alternative.”

As it works on its future plans for managing Hormuz, Iran also has been working to prepare for such a scenario. It has been negotiating the expansion of alternative land shipping options in the region and is brokering the erection of a network of routes transiting Pakistan and Afghanistan, a parallel trade system outside of Western dominance. Iran envisions this as establishing itself as a central transit hub in the heart of central and western Asia.

“This is an important development. For years, we did not pay much attention to developing land transit infrastructure due to a lack of necessity. However, we are now moving forward at a very fast pace, and the level of engagement from the countries involved in these corridors has genuinely surprised us,” said the Iranian official. “This dynamic is reshaping the region and will significantly transform the future of trade and the nature of relations between countries in West Asia.”

These alternative land routes are not just long-term strategic planning by Tehran, but a direct response to the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz that Iran believes will allow it to endure a prolonged standoff by countering some of the economic and supply impact. “Our volume of maritime trade is very high, so naturally shifting it to land transit won’t be easy,” the official said. But, he added, “things are actually moving forward at a really good pace.”

I really do hope the war ends soon, because this shite is ridiculous.

[–] rainpizza@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Sadly, if Brain Berletic's take turns out to be true, the war will not end soon but it will expand.

You can check his take here -> https://journal-neo.su/2026/04/28/why-the-us-is-at-war-with-iran-and-why-the-war-might-pause-but-wont-end/

Until the interests driving US foreign policy — including the arms industry, big oil and gas, big tech, the automotive industry, and many others — are displaced around the globe by the alternatives offered by multipolarism, and until the multipolar world can create sufficient deterrence against not only US military aggression but also the economic coercion, political interference, and capture that lead to that aggression, the US will continue to hold global peace, prosperity, and stability hostage to its demands for continued unipolar hegemony over the planet.

[–] PumpkinFactory@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I don't want to sound like I am crassly glazing my own country (China), but come to think of it, I am immensely thankful that China is taking up the economic fight against US hegemony.

arms industry -> Good luck with missiles and jets while we hold rare earth and specialized metal industries in hard check
big oil -> renewables are gaining ground despite efforts of big oil to cripple them, and most solar panels are now exported by China
big tech -> Alternatives are here, including a much more resource efficient ecosystem of AI, to the point even companies in Silicon Valley are using them
automotive industry -> Got Ford so shocked, lobbying efforts have been made in Washinton to never allow Chinese EVs to compete

Also, banking and international transaction -> used to be, SWIFT was the only game in town, now no longer.

Despite not being a "pure" socialist state, China is taking on the challenge of the century and taking on the crumbling empire by it's neck.

[–] Cowbee@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 2 weeks ago

To be clear, "pure" socialism us largely a western conception. China has a socialist market economy, and is gradually developing and progressing along that road. Socialism is a process more than it is a "thing."

Full path record of the KC-135R aircraft shows that its signal was cut off midway, either due to crashing or losing signal due to GPS jamming — earlier reports suggested that there were a lot of interference in GPS jamming for ships in the Persian Gulf, so it could be related — or it simply crashed.

🇮🇷🇺🇸| Fars News says 2 stolen Iran-affiliated oil tankers were transferred to Diego Garcia base.

Fars says the transfer of these ships towards a remote military island in the Indian Ocean indicates that Oman, the UAE, and Pakistan have not allowed the US to dock these tankers at their ports.

🇮🇷🇺🇸| Well, as it turns out, the “6 IRGC fast boats” that were attacked & sunk by the US army, were in reality civilian cargo ships!

Trump & CENTCOM (surprise, surprise) LIED, again.

Tasnim, quoting a military source, says 5 Iranian civilians were killed a US attack on 2 cargo boats in the Persian Gulf.

The 2 small cargo boats, carrying civilians, were travelling from Khasab on the Omani coast towards the Iranian coast.

One of the boats is likely ‘RASOL ALLAH’ — thanks to a find by MenchOsint on X

🇺🇸| NOW: A 2nd USAF refueler aircraft, this time a KC-46A, is squawking 7700 emergency alert today in the Persian Gulf.

Either karma is really hitting US Air Force today, or they are deliberately squawking emergency to be able to land in Arab countries, which other than UAE, they don’t allow Israeli departed planes to land.

Or they are facing real issues.

❗️Met police refuse to investigate British nationals accused of war crimes in Gaza

The Metropolitan Police has declined to open an investigation into ten British nationals accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity while taking part in the genocide in Gaza. According to Novara Media, despite receiving a comprehensive 240-page dossier of evidence submitted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and the Public Interest Law Centre, Scotland Yard claimed the information did not meet the threshold for a formal inquiry. This decision comes despite the support of over 70 legal experts and allegations involving the targeted killing of civilians, attacks on hospitals, and the forced displacement of Palestinians between 2023 and 2024.

Prominent human rights barrister Michael Mansfield KC condemned the decision as a license to get away with murder and a complete insult to the rule of law. Legal representatives argue that the Met applied an incorrect legal test by demanding evidence sufficient for a conviction before even beginning an investigation. Critics suggest this refusal creates a dangerous accountability gap for the estimated 2,000 British dual nationals who have served in the Israeli ranks during the ongoing assault on Gaza.

Raji Sourani of the PCHR accused the British establishment of politicizing international law and providing legal cover for suspected criminals. The Met’s stance follows the recent shuttering of a Foreign Office unit tasked with tracking Israeli breaches of international law, signaling a broader systemic withdrawal from holding British citizens accountable for overseas atrocities. This failure to act reinforces claims that the UK is providing not only military and political support to Israel while it carries out war crimes but that it is also providing a robust domestic legal shield for those participating in these crimes.
