Literally no one in the comments took the time to actually read the article. These projects were put on hold due to contracts going well over budget before they even broke dirt. This is about fiscal responsibility. I do still believe that they could put these projects on hold indefinitely but that should be where individuals put them task to push forward efficiently. As someone who works in construction this sounds like project management at the contractor level not handling SOW's appropriately before work starts.

You guys need to join the BC NDP party. I mean become card carrying members. Then show up to their events and vote in their internal elections.

That's how you get involved. That's what I did here in Québec. I joined Québec solidaire and I get phone calls from my MP for all kinds of events. I get to express my opinion to steer the party in the direction I want.

You need to do this in BC. Tell Eby to get fucked and GTFO.

The BC NDP is basically 3 corporate lobbyists in a trenchcoat; they've ensured progressive interests get squashed at conventions

All the more reason to pop the buttons open and slip in. Take it over.

What the fuck is Eby doing? He's going to get the Conservatives elected next time, for sure. And they will gut public services, as soon as they have the chance. If the NDP want to hold onto power, they need to stop this bullshit.

BC's provinvial NDP doesn't act like like an NDP party ... esp Eby. He seems to be closer to the Liberals than any left-wing party - and that's the problem.

The hospital project is not cancelled, some of the contracts are cancelled as the contractors were running up costs before construction even began. The province is putting it back out to tender as they lost confidence in the initially selected contractor. They are trying to save hundreds of millions of dollars here, which seems to me is good fiduciary responsibility.

If that's true, then whoever wrote this article needs to be fired for journalistic malpractice. Do you have any other source?

Eby trying his hardest to prove the Peter principle.

Another reminder that the competency of the individual(s) at governing is equally as important as their ideology.

You can't build hospitals on land owned by indigenous people

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

They don't need hospitals?

[–] Karmanopoly@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago

They have medicine men

[–] DriftingLynx@lemmy.ca 0 points 6 days ago

They're just being obtuse. Pay them no attention.

Eby is easily the worst premier in the country.

Right, I just read the head line and was like ," what the fuck did ford do now"

[–] CanIFishHere@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I should have said one of the worst. Can there be a tie?

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Sure. They both seem terrible.

[–] Knoxvomica@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

Albertan here, you shut your mouth, we win.

So now is not a wise time to get old in BC.

The issue appears to be that they cancelled projects that appear to have inadequate budget management.

[–] Medic8teMe@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I have terrible news for you...this is happening everywhere in the country.

[–] girlfreddy@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Manitoba is doing better than most, and we're lucky to have Wab Kinew at the helm.

No it's not. It's Burnaby, BC where the contacts were canceled.

Woosh, it doesn't matter if Manitoba is run better, it's Manitoba that's the joke.
