It's those $3 meals they were recommending.

"Oh no! We're starving while being responsible for starving entire swaths of people in an entire country! Feel bad for us!"

They still perform like shit even with uBlock on, and turning off JS makes most sites unusable

firefox's reading mode is a godsend in that respect, for really old computers.

[–] FalschgeldFurkan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Gotta admit, I've never tried that out. Thanks for the tip!

Trillion dollar military budget and can't even feed our troops. Those bomb companies really know how to squeeze us for every last drop.

They spent the military budget for the year bombing elementary schools in Iran.

From the article

[–] pedz@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The Pentagon has denied any suggestions of food shortages on board ships and did not comment on the new pictures, directing Newsweek to a series of posts by the U.S. Navy's Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, including one that said: "Recent reports alleging food shortages and poor quality aboard our deployed ships are false."

This quote reads like it's from the Ministry of Truth.

I thought they were going to show a picture of an MRE.

[–] Hathaway@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

MREs are field supply rations, ie, to places you can’t get logistics. The navy is logistics, therefore, they don’t ship out with MREs. Iirc. I wasn’t in the navy.

Edit: it’s mentioned in this Video when I’m more awake I’ll find the exact place.

As an aside, I feel like I've been seeing more from Newsweek.

I feel like I remember that name from my childhood, but I guess I sort of assumed they folded years ago.
