The shooting has renewed questions about the National Guard’s presence in Memphis and whether soldiers should be armed.

So, coconut oil vs butter is a bit much for me.

The coconut oil is too something lol.

I've had better luck with olive oil, but sometimes the flavor doesn't go right.

Anybody got any butter alternatives? Honestly, salsa has been pretty kick ass, but may need to mix it up.

I'm especially interested in being able to eat a russet potato without choking to death. So taste is important, but also that function of food. Idk now that I say that it sounds a bit crazier than I imagined lol

On a whim, I picked up some vegan corn dogs (I guess the only processed meat I've really tried aside from boca burgers). It's kind of been a minute, but I don't know that I would have been able to tell it wasn't a hot dog.

They were pretty tasty. It's nice to know there is junk food lol

The Tennessee law is similar to those passed in Indiana and Louisiana, which two federal courts have ruled unconstitutional due to the laws’ vague nature in allowing police broad discretion to create buffer zones.

National Guard members were seen patrolling a popular commercial area after arriving in Memphis on Friday and there have been reports of an increase in immigration raids and stop-and-frisk policing.

On Monday October 13, 2025, the DOJ released the following numbers and reasons for arrests of over 800 individuals (including 17 juveniles) in Memphis:

• Warrant pickups - 297

• Administrative (Immigration) - 161

•Firearms Arrests - 94

•Narcotics - 79

•Homicide - 6

•Probation/Parole - 2

•Sex Offenses - 34

•130 unexplained "other" charges

62 "known gang members" were also reportedly identified in the operation.

The Memphis task force is composed of state, federal, and local agencies. The majority of arrests have occured following traffic stops of Memphis residents.

We've basically combined the Library of Alexandria and 4chan, thrown it into a cocktail mixer and it looks like we are on the way to agreeing that we'll defer to whatever falls out.

so, you've got these models that spit out racism and sexism... and I guess insanity too and it's really like a distilled status quo.

Power gets what it wants out of it predictable, math based evidence that reinforces the current state of power.

I feel like when we talk about AI, we've got to talk about the context of all that language, a world where racism and sexism were not only givens, but moral imperatives.

We're not creating a god in AI, we're doubling down on failing systems, calling it math magic psycho-history, and trying to pass it off as something that's much better than it is.

but, the technology will get better, it's not really unfeasible to think of it automating white collar jobs the way robots did manufacturing.

So, if I have an overgassed AR, and am kinda an idjit, what's the best way to make it gooder?

A heavier spring? Do I need to mess with the gas block or get a different tube? Am I going to have to do all this multiple times to get it right, or is there a suggestion or guide or something?
