President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have dropped to their lowest level since the start of his second term.

According to the NBC News Decision Desk Poll released on Sunday, only 37 percent of adults approve of Trump’s work as president. Meanwhile, 63 percent disapprove, including 50 percent who disapprove strongly. Some of that strong disapproval comes from Trump’s handling of skyrocketing costs for most households: Among the over 32,000 American adults that NBC News surveyed over two weeks in March and April, 52 percent said they “strongly disapprove” and 16 percent “somewhat disapprove” of Trump’s handling of inflation and the cost of living.

That’s a large disapproval jump compared to a few months ago. When NBC News asked the same inflation question to Americans last August, 45 percent noted they “strongly disapprove”—seven percentage points lower than this month’s results.

The NBC results also suggest that Trump is beginning to lose his voter base. The number of Republicans who approve of Trump’s performance on inflation sank by 10 percentage points (from 83 to 73 percent) since last summer. The poll also found that overall support for the president dropped by four percentage points (from 87 to 83 percent) among his Republican support in just two months.

37% of Americans have lost touch with reality.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 50 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It’s just Trump fandom at this point. It clearly doesn’t matter what policies are enacted or anything he says or does, the base will never leave him. I believe he will be officially incorporated into Evangelical Christian canon after he passes - maybe a new book of the Bible with the story of Trump.

Cultists you mean?

If he told them to drink poison so their souls could meet him in his gilded ballroom... they would.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 9 points 2 weeks ago

Would be a reason to let him finish ballroom...

Nearly every political poll shows that about 1/3 of the population has stalwart Nazi ideologies

This last third is the most dangerous third. These people are split between two groups - the ones who are so stupid that they're still on board because they like him for their own purposes, most likely racism or pedophilia (he's my guy!), or because they are Sociopathic criminals, and he provides an environment that they can ply their predatory/parasitic trade.

The first group is likely to get violent when they are finally backed into a corner, like the J6ers, while the rest will just try to rile up the dummies to fight for THEM.

What's left is the worst of the worst, and these are the ones we are going to have to deal with HARD, when we take it all back.

37% are evil, stupid, or both.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You're forgetting brainwashed which sadly probably amounts to plurality of these pissants.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Evil/stupid/brainwashed, who cares; the word is Nazis, it's not our job to tell them apart.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

It's useful for threat assessment, the difference between an opportunist and a true believer is the difference between a threat and a kill.

[–] inari@piefed.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago

At this point the difference is no longer relevant

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 52 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I wish Trump would sink to the lowest point of a lake.

He'll just stink it up and kill off all the fish, they don't deserve that.

The number of Republicans who approve of Trump’s performance on inflation sank by 10 percentage points (from 83 to 73 percent) since last summer.

Alright, I understand a lot of things are political in nature, but what the hell is wrong with people who see inflation go up and think, "He's doing a great job on this issue!"

[–] TheRealKuni@piefed.social 17 points 2 weeks ago

They don’t see inflation going up. Stuff was already expensive, they’ve become accustomed to stuff being expensive. And their bubble tells them the economy is improving even if they can’t see it. So they believe it.

They’re used to believing things without evidence.

[–] cuerdo@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Please stop blaming the people, they have been sequestered by the oligarch media, we have lost the fourth power, and that is the priority.

This polling results are damming in that direction, now only cultural revolution can brin this brainwashing down.

[–] Lanske@lemmy.world 34 points 2 weeks ago (12 children)

Still 37% yanks approve of him.... still way too high for a lying child rapist

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

No matter how many articles I see about Trump's popularity tanking, it's ALWAYS 37% of the population that supports him. I wonder what's up with that. Like why that exact number? Does about a 3rd of the population have brain damage or something?

[–] LastYearsIrritant@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Because a third of the US was trained from birth to think that the Dems are literal baby eating Satan worshipers.

They sit there and think "at least trump doesn't want to kill the babies, just fuck them"

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Theres rumors he killed some of those kids he fucked. And definitely testimony that he beat them.

Unfortunately the religious population of the US has been turning a blind eye to lying child rapists for generations, I doubt they will stop anytime soon.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Remember that, even at the point at which Nixon got on a helicopter and flew off in utter disgrace and shame, he still had people supporting him. 24%. Nearly 1 in 4.

And boy, those people were pissed that he got what they thought was a raw deal by the "liberal media". Any conservative adults in my life would go on about it, even as Ronnie Raygun's crew was wrecking America, they still had a burning resentment about it. If I recall, people like Ann Coulter spent some time writing about it.

Faux "News" and hate radio were born out of that seething hatred for the truth.

[–] Lanske@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Wow didnt know that!

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

And that's why America is fucked. You don't need to convince 50% of Americans to be reasonable, you need to convince 80% of decent Americans to be reasonable. There's literally only 20% margin of error in the people not in a cult to keep the place running.

I think the only way to get out of this mess is to let the whole thing fall apart. I can't even convince my own sisters to get off of fucking Twitter and Facebook, and they know how bad it is! There's no way any critical mass of people are going to give enough of a shit to fight unless we're all homeless. It really feels that way.

Someone wrote a program to spit out a "trumps approval rating lowest in all time" article every 9 days or so.

[–] Upgrayedd1776@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

for what its worth, there are no trump flags in my fl neighborhood for the first time ever and i over heard two old men complaining about the economy in a supermarket isle and about having to go on support for the first time in his life, all I could overhear distinctly was "at least with clinton we got". Purely anecdotal and these vermin that support him are good at crawling under dirt when it suits them, but who knows

Eventually it will underflow and reach 100%.

[–] monotremata@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

Doesn't even need to. He's been frequently citing polls carried out by CPAC, which show him having a 93% approval rating. Why bother with troublesome reality?

37 is still strangely high.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

Enough to get re-elected. 100 million thumbs up, 90 million thumbs down and the rest don't vote.

only 37 percent of adults approve of Trump’s work as president

That is still almost 100 million people saying "this is fine". They must be completely decoupled from reality, and that is scary.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 8 points 2 weeks ago

I don't want to share the nation with them, it is worse than the blind leading the blind. They don't acknowledge that the world should be approached with care.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Until we are in a general strike its not low enough

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Lowest point so far.

Have faith in Donald.

[–] Infinite@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, at this trajectory, with the low from 6 months ago being 37%, and two months ago he hit 37%... in another month or so, he'll crater at 37%. Amazing decline.

Until he sinks at least six feet into the Earth, I will not be satisfied.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What's wrong with those 37%?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Well some have a 'team sports' ideology where your team is your team, no matter what may come. So you always support 'your team' or else you are a bad person. Nevermind that 'your team' displays no loyalty to you and screws you...

What's scary is that beyond Trump's 37%, there's still some people that will now badmouth Trump and what he has done, and perhaps their biggest worry is that because Trump did so badly, the Republicans will lose power. They get actively screwed on economy and foreign wars while the party cheers on and they still say "well at least they aren't democrats"

Then there's the folks that are at least happy that they are grabbing hispanics off the streets. Was exposed to a conservative ranting about wasting our resources in Venezula, of being too cozy with Israel especially with the Iran war, and even going so far as to blame the Israeli relationship for the death of Charlie Kirk... But at least he was doing something about those scary Mexicans...

[–] arandomthought@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Seems like at this point news agencies can just automate this headline to be sent out on a monthly basis.

Should be lower. That 37% still support him is incredible.

I hate these posts. It’s always the same. 37 or 38. I want it ZERO.

Fuck off. That's not a fucking drop. You're literally making that up to make me feel better. It doesn't.

I'm reporting this for being a blatant lie.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

Mid 30s is when the bad stuff like impeachment or resignation becomes possible, but it needs to stay there for more than a few weeks.
