1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. 5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I mean, I'm from the US and I in no way trust America right now, either, so... yeah, right there with you guys.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago

It's why Iran keeps making those lego AI meme videos. Iran even understands the position you just stated. They just want you and I to actually do something about it. Because our leaders are dropping bombs on their children.

Why do they even bother calling a cease fire?

They must make money off of it somehow, some sort of insider trading rug pull

Trump realizes if he doesn't bring prices down then it is possible for all 20 GOP senate seats to lose the midterm election, at which point he goes from White House to Prison.

Hell, if he can't appease his base he might even end up with another insurrection but this time against him and nobody to stop it.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Fetterman would beg to differ.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I watched a clip of the interview where he made a statement about impeachment and his complaint was that it wouldn't go anywhere, he didn't say he wouldn't vote for it.

Even the literally braindamaged Fetterman, worst of the DNC, is better than any GOP.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

fetterman is also a pretty disengenous example. he won't be able to win as a democrat again its just the senate terms are to long.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's still relevant because there are only 20 GOP seats total for reelection in 2026, and we need 67 to remove Trump, so even though he's here until 2028 we need his vote, too.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 4 months ago

yeah he is just this scenario where he is not acting the way he talked on the campaign trail and it coincides with literal brain damage. So I mean yeah we need him to vote right but he is not exactly a good example of a typical demcrat. Its kinda funny. I mean sad funny. That brain damage seems to correlate with leaning maga.

They'll lose anyway. They always do.

In USA, we have a tag-team political system also known as "good cop/bad cop"; both using the other to blame their many failures on. It's very important that they lose every four to eight years (at maximum) to maintain plausible deniability.

There is some good-natured competition here and there, they are not the same, but they are both anti-union and pro-corporation.

Wait and see

The vote histories show a very clear line of separation of good and evil. Things are as bad as they are now because the USA has had 48 or less DNC senators for over 13 years and counting.

Do you really believe that Obama would have invaded Iraq after 9/11, that Biden would be attacking Iran, tariffing every country, and refusing to aid Ukraine? If so, you're a fool of the highest order.

Kamala Harris' plan to tax the rich would have been a huge turning point towards real progress in the USA.

don't forget trump one got rid of people who where in china looking for zoonotic viruses. Like the last one literally was pulled october or november 2019 it was nuts. also the clinton administration was well awar of al kaheida and was trying to get bush to pay attention but bush/cheney felt there was no reason to take anything the outgoing administration said seriously. It was like the start of the repulbican not doing diligence with presidential turnovers. trump moving it to both outgoing and incoming.

This and the US/Israel have consistently assassinated the leaders at negotiations. We are a rogue terrorist state.

[–] TheKracken@lemmy.world 24 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It was broken less than 24 hrs after it started.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago (3 children)

It was less than an hour...

The ceasefire included Lebanon, and I'm pretty sure Israel just kept firing thru the ceasefire start, then just lied and said it didn't include Lebanon.

trump wants this to be "his war" but the truth is Bibi just dragged him (and us) into it. And he has no interest in peace.

So trump has no power to "end" this war, the absolute best he can do is just leave and hope that eventually Iran decides to open the straite up.

But he has no negotiating power, because there's nothing he can do to stop Israel

[–] group_hug@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

He could stop sending weapons to Israel.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

He couldn't bare to do such a thing. It's operation Epstein Fury after all

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

trump wants this to be “his war” but the truth is Bibi just dragged him

Nobody dragged the US in. We've had civilian leadership itching to attack Iran since '79.

Netanyahu simply threw the first punch, convinced their Iron Dome made them impervious to consequences. Americans piled in fully of their own accord.

[–] Samskara@sh.itjust.works -1 points 4 months ago

Iran kept firing rockets as Israel after announcing the ceasefire, before Israel’s big attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 18 points 4 months ago

Yeah, man, that's fair. Even our best administrations have been snakes to just about every other country besides pissrael.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 17 points 4 months ago

TBH even if they did, Israel's got the track record of respecting ceasefires on par with Russia's: they just don't.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

The fraction of Mankind which trusts Americans is probably very small at the moment.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 5 points 4 months ago

Never thought in a conflict of the us vs iran that iran would be the sensible and measured side while the us is the unhinged nutter side.

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Over the last 14 months at least one country in the world should have learned that lesson. Trump, and therefore the USA, is completely untrustworthy. It's why I don't care how much or little Carney is doing about CUSMA. We know Trump will make whatever deal he wants and then disregard it the next day if that is what he wants then. Why waste time pretending to negotiate?

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 4 months ago

I mean we are literally russia. Just like everyone says whats the point of negotiation with putins russia as any deal lasts only so long as he feels like it. Its the exact same with trumps america. Its not worth the currency it printed on.

[–] sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Who trusts the US? Or Iran really?

[–] davepleasebehave@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

how many times has Iran attacked another country while in the middle of negotiations?

Pretty snide move

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Everyone who trusted Americans has been assassinated already
