What I mean is that the actual POLICIES of that party when in government are at best sprinkled with social democrat concepts, and that's only in certain years when the party is led by the center-left faction. As far as I know the PSOE hasn't been controlled by the Leftwing faction since the days just after the fall of Fascism in Spain.

I'm actually in Portugal and am a member of a small leftwing party here and am well aware that amongst members there is quite a range of political positions. However the actual ideas pushed by the party publicly are but a subset of that range, one which mainly matches the ideas of the faction which has the most seats amongst the "national board" and which controls the leadership and most parliamentary seats. In fact the party has recently collapsed in votes because (IMHO) the dominant faction are middle-class posh boys and girls with no life experience who had no strategy or vision for the Future of the country and weren't really trying to be a leftwing party for all Portuguese but in practice only for people like them, so amongst other things they did a lot of parroting of shit they found on Twitter from New Labour in Britain and the Democrats in the US, which are actually rightwing so they were all identity politics whilst ignoring broader impoverishment in the country and not noticing obvious phenomenons like a massive realestate bubble killing the chances of any young people who don't have a "bank of mommy and daddy" to back them.

(As you might have deduced, I'm not aligned with the views of that faction).

That's not actually what is written there.

Surelly if the author had mean to write "Don't vote Kamala, she supports Israel" the author would have written that instead of "Vote Trump, she supports Israel".

Unless the author was purposefully trying to be obtuse and deceitful and explicitly make far greater accusations on others than they can actually support in any way form or shape but having an out of claiming "what I really meant was ", kinda like some people go around insulting others and when called out will say "just joking".

It's almost as if the people throwing this shit around aren't exactly honest.

And if nobody goes to jail for it they'll keep on doing it.

In Spain, like in Portugal, the name of a party and their actual ideology are two entirelly different things, maybe because in both countries the modern day parties only formed in the 70s when the Fascist dictatorships in those countries were overthrown and replaced by Democracy.

Anyways, the PSOE is at best Social Democrat (in a good year, in a bad year it's mild neoliberal, so center-right).

I have never heard or read of anybody saying that people should "Vote Trump because Kamala supports Israel" until this moment.

A VPN is way cheaper and a bittorrent client is free.

Yeah, but did you say "Thank you" or at least "Praise to Allah"?

I read that from top to bottom and not a single thing was wrong or even an exaggeration.

It really is that bad.

I'm not so sure the US was a proper ally of Europe (there has long been overt talk in the US about Europe as a competitor and a lot of effort from US sources to try and weaken the EU with for example funding campaigning for Brexit) but I do believe that before Trump the US was an ally of Ukraine.

The Labour Party in the UK (with whom I am very familiar, having lived there for over a decade) is a perfect example of a party whose leadership strongly believed the segment of voters to their left had no other option than vote for them, hence kept moving rightwards. This is especially so in Keir Starmer's Labour, with it's flirting with far-right subjects like anti-immigration and transphobia.

The Democrat Party in the US is also another excellent example of a party which stopped caring about voters to their left because they felt such voters had no other option than vote for them, hence Biden's own anti-immigration rhetoric and policies, as well as support for the ethno-Fascist Genocidal political movement of Zionism and why the main Political Propaganda messaging from them in the last election was "Vote Kamala to stop Trump" rather than anything about the qualities that Kamala Harris would bring as President.

I mean, I can see where you're coming from, but historically (at least in the last 3 or 4 decades) in systems with highly rigged voting systems like FPTP, the left-side main party has taken (sometimes very overtly so) left-wing voters for granted and openly pitched ever more rightwards policies in their speeches and then actually enacted them when in office.

Ultimately, even if your theory was correct (and I don't think there was ever a big enough block of left-wingers refusing to vote for the left-side main party to actually satisfy that condition you say will lead that party to shift rightwards, hence there is no experimental evidence either for or against what you suggest, hence it's all a fantasy "what if"), we do know with absolute certainty that "vote for them no matter what" leads the left-side main party to shift rightwards because that's exactly what has happened for at least 3 or 4 decades both in the UK and the US.

So apparently for lemmy.world mods pointing out that the word "anti-semite" is far more used than "antigypsyism, anti-Romanyism, antiziganism, ziganophobia, or Romaphobia” even though the Nazis targetted both Jews and Roma in the Holocaust, is, somehow, "Criticizing Jewish people as a whole".

Or maybe it's the whole "I don't care about any one specific race, I care about people and think it's always unjusct when people are treated differently based on things they were born with, such as race" that was deemed "Criticizing Jewish people as a whole".

Good old lemmy.world: they were called on it repeatedly so eventually walked back on the whole "criticizing Israel is anti-semitic" but apparently if you don't go along with the view that racism against a very specific group is much worse than racism against people from other groups, then you must be against that specific ethnic group.

My comment in text for reference:

All clearly as frequently used as "anti-semitism" /s

And yeah, I don't care about race, any race, I care about people, which includes that they're not unjustly treated for things that were not their choice, such as the race they were born into.

It's Racists who feel the need to care about a race or races, defending things for some races which they do noit defend for others, doing little performances about how others must care about those races too and that those who don't "are against those races" - for them race comes first, defining a person and dictating how they should be treated.

For Humanists race is something that should be of as little importance to how somebody is treated as the color of their eyes or how tall they are, and yet they see again and again race weponized by Racists to treat people differently even though those people haven't actually earned such treatment through their actions: in other words race fro Humanists is something that should be irrelevant yet has been turned by others into a pivot for injustice.

It's pretty obvious from your little performance which one you are
