That's just a person taking a vacation, and letting themselves go.
Can I just keep slapping the red button?
I think I'd lose my job if I slept through winter.
But if everyone did it I'd only see tropical and southern hemisphere people online. It would be a quiet internet. All the advertising would be for tropical Asians. I'd wake in spring with a season of northern podcasts queued and it would take a while to get to my local ones.
Things would be pretty similar to now for America and Europe, just with the years half length
I misread fat as hat, but that would work too
Blue is always getting pushed. Migratory birds put on fat before the flight to have the energy required for the journey and hibernating species do the same so they can afford to eat very little during winter.
That must be a very delicate balance since it must expend more energy to fly if the bird is heavier.
But I remember hearing about the amazing migratory flights of some small birds that they conquer in under two days, which would imply they were flying 35mph nonstop with no breaks. So it must be working well for them.
They become pretty fat, so the energy storage outweighs the increased consumption. I can always tell when they are about to leave because they are significantly round.
Plus lots of animals like polar bears both put on fat and become dormant.
Adapt, migrate, or die.
Meh, I seem to be an animal that keeps working 9-5, barely sees the sun for 2 months, and burns shit tonnes of fossil fuels to make up for the heat and light.
I've never understood why humans migrated to cold areas.
"Hey Bob! Let's move the tribe up near the Arctic circle."
"Uh, won't that be a little challenging?"

It was a series of families moving beyond the land they knew because they were pushed out by other families. The response to your discussion would be "Because I don't want to get stabbed in the face by Kenny."

I go with dormant and fat myself.

I lose hair, have no feathers, but will accumulate fat. So at least that's going for me...
It's true. I can't afford the middle option but I'm doing the two others.
