The "alleged" deportations have been mostly not confirmed by independent journalistic work and take the Ukrainian government's word as true (not a smart thing to take a warring country's propaganda as true)
So has Russia returned these kids to their parents orrr.....?
Again, the claim in the first place is made by the Ukrainian government without independent verification, hard to confirm if those children actually exist and have been actually taken, no independent confirmation of the thousands claimed, only a few hundreds.
Ukrainian authorities verified the identities of 19k children. Russian authorities claim upwards of 700k children. Like, I'm not sure why you're disputing the fact this is happening when neither Ukraine nor Russia is disputing it.
Yes, exactly my point, this information comes from the Ukrainian government.
This comes from a passing remark by a Russian propagandist on Russian national TV, isn't that just Russian propaganda? The whole angle that Russia is using to justify the invasion internally is the supposed genocide of ethnic Russians at the hands of the Ukrainian government in eastern Ukraine, of course they make shit up about saving children from the enemy for the propaganda value.
Because without independent journalistic reports and investigations I don't take such strong accusations seriously. Time will prove me right when all of this is over, as it does time and time again to those who try to look beyond western imperialist propaganda.
I'm very doubtful about you being proven right here, since both Russia and Ukraine claim it's happening. It's published Russian policy. It's unlikely Russia's propaganda number is true (hopefully at least), but imo it's undisputed that it is in fact happening. UN investigators also have stated that this is going on.
Like, this isn't just accusations, Russia confesses to doing this.
Do note that some of these children have been returned, apparently up to 2100 from what I could find.
Children have been extracted from the warzone by Russia and taken to Russia, my point is that the Ukrainian government figures aren't verified.
I don't mean that this hasn't happened as an isolated incident, I just mean there's not substantial evidence of a consistent policy of child kidnapping and forced Russification on the scale that the Ukrainian government claims (with obvious propagandistic effects).
Who needs evidence when the accusations align with my preconceptions? /s
So did you stopped beating your wife orrr...?
The ICC found the allegations credible enough to put out an arrest warrant for Lvova-Belova. I know that probably does not mean much to you, but in that regard imposing new sanction makes sense.
Either way, the editorializing of reasoning behind the sanctions (which my comment was actually about, so if you reply to me, reply to that) is dishonest.
I'll take the ICC seriously when they put out an arrest warrant for the US military and its involvement in genocide in Gaza. Or its involvement in murdering millions in Vietnam. Or in Korea. Or in Laos. Or... You get the point. The ICC is not impartial and is very much a tool of western imperialism.
So nothing about the headline then. Typical.
My initial comment was a reference to the headline and your response to it. You denied my comment by using the ICC as an argument from authority, I rejected that because ICC is not impartial.
Wait... That initial comment was making the case for editorializing headlines? And then you go on to moan about some other thing being a tool of western imperialism? (very cliché btw)
That's both ridiculous and hypocritical.
