This community has really taken off so I thought it’s time I said hi! I’m your mod, SomeoneElse. I use a couple of accounts but I’m the same person - SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk SomeoneElse@feddit.uk and SomeoneElse@lemmy.world. You can contact me at any account.

How this community is moderated.

This community has quickly grown into the largest community on the feddit.uk instance. Despite 3.7k subscribers, 40 posts and 835 comments I’ve only had to remove a single comment for breaking the rules. Thank you to everyone who’s subscribed, voted, posted or commented. Thank you for following the rules and helping to ensure that this is a welcoming and inclusive community. To ensure this community remains a friendly place, please report any comments that break the rules listed below. I’m on Lemmy a lot, but I don’t have time to read every comment made on every community I moderate so I mainly rely on mod reports generated by users.

If you break the rules, your comment is likely to be removed. I will also message you with either a reminder to follow the rules or a warning. You get one warning. If you break the rules again, you will be banned.

Posting guidelines.

  • Posts in this community must be of property (inside or out) listed for sale which contains a terrible element. “Terrible” can refer to:
  • the photo itself (finger over the lens, too far away, people in the shot, bad Photoshop, etc.)
  • the property (weird layout, questionable plumbing, unsound structure, etc.)
  • the interior (carpeted bathrooms, awful taste interiors, weird mannequins/taxidermies/art, inflatable pools indoors, etc.)
  • the actual listing itself including unusual descriptions and unrealistic pricing. However, this isn’t a community to discuss the housing market in general. This is a comedic community - let’s keep it light.
  • Photos can be sourced from anywhere and be any age, but please check they haven’t already been posted.
  • Censor any names/contact details of private individuals.
  • Mark the post NSFW if it includes nudity or sensitive content

Rules.

This community follows the rules of the feddit.uk instance and the lemmy.org code of conduct. I’ve summarised them here:

  1. Be civil, remember the human.
  2. No insulting or harassing other members. That includes name-calling.
  3. Respect differences of opinion. Civil discussion/debate is fine, arguing is not. Criticise ideas, not people.
  4. Keep unrequested/unstructured critique to a minimum.
  5. Remember we have all chosen to be here voluntarily. Respect the spent time and effort people have spent creating posts in order to share something they find amusing with you.
  6. Swearing in general is fine, swearing to insult another commenter isn’t.
  7. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia or any other type of bigotry.
  8. No incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies.

I’ve created a couple of communities here that I missed from Reddit and this one is probably my favourite. I’ve really enjoyed the nicer environment here on Lemmy, and it’s probably the thing I’m most keen to preserve in this community. At the same time, I don’t want to be an overly authoritarian mod so I need your help, input, and feedback to make the community into the kind of place that the majority of subscribers want it to be. I’m going to leave this post ~~stickied at the top for a while~~ [Edit: you can't sticky posts on this instance yet]; if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments regarding the rules and posting guidelines, please feel free to leave your thoughts below. I will read all of them.

Thank you all, it’s great to have you here! SomeoneElse

The real estate market in Cyprus is on an interesting trajectory, buoyed by steady economic growth and robust demand for both residential and commercial properties. Cyprus, known for its strategic location and attractive climate, is increasingly appealing to investors and homebuyers alike. Here's a closer look at what's shaping the market and what the future may hold.

Economic Growth as a Key Driver

Cyprus's economy is projected to grow by 3.6% in 2024, with a steady yet slightly slower pace of 2.8% in 2025 and 2.5% in 2026. This growth is underpinned by strong private consumption and a dynamic construction sector. As household purchasing power improves due to wage growth and easing inflation, the demand for residential properties is expected to rise.

The real estate sector is also benefiting from government-backed Recovery and Resilience Facility funds. These investments are fueling infrastructure and housing projects, creating a positive ripple effect on the construction industry. High demand from foreign buyers, particularly in the tourism and services sectors, is another contributing factor to the vibrant property market.

Spotlight on Limassol: A Real Estate Hotspot

Limassol stands out as a hub of real estate activity. The city's appeal lies in its coastal charm, thriving business environment, and diverse housing options. For those exploring limassol properties, this platform provides a variety of choices that cater to different preferences and budgets.

Investors and homebuyers are particularly drawn to Limassol for its upscale lifestyle offerings and proximity to key amenities. Apartments in the city are highly sought after, with demand largely fueled by both locals and expatriates.

Rising Interest in Apartments and Houses

The growing interest in urban living has increased demand for modern apartments. The apartments for sale in Limassol are especially attractive to young professionals and families seeking convenience and accessibility. These apartments often feature contemporary designs and amenities, making them a preferred choice for long-term investments.

On the other hand, the allure of suburban living has kept demand steady for houses. Families and retirees frequently search for a flats for sale in Limassol, as they offer spacious layouts and serene surroundings. Limassol's suburbs continue to attract those looking for a peaceful yet connected living experience.

Challenges and Risks

Despite its promising outlook, the Cypriot real estate market faces some challenges. The country's heavy reliance on tourism leaves it exposed to external shocks. For instance, geopolitical tensions in neighboring regions and fluctuations in energy prices could impact foreign investment and overall market stability.

Additionally, high construction costs and supply chain disruptions remain areas of concern. Developers must carefully manage these risks to ensure sustained growth in the sector.

The Road Ahead: What to Expect

The Cypriot government's commitment to maintaining a budget surplus and reducing public debt strengthens the country's economic fundamentals. The unemployment rate, which is expected to decline further to 4.5% by 2026, also bodes well for the real estate sector. This positive trend supports household income growth, further enhancing purchasing power.

Foreign investment, particularly in commercial real estate, is likely to continue driving the market. Innovations in energy-efficient construction and sustainable housing are expected to become more prominent as environmental concerns gain traction among buyers and developers.

The real estate market in Cyprus offers a mix of opportunities and challenges. Strong economic growth, coupled with rising demand for properties in hotspots like Limassol, paints an optimistic picture. Whether you're considering a chic apartment or a spacious suburban house, the market's potential remains undeniable.

With its strategic investments and economic resilience, Cyprus is poised to remain an attractive destination for real estate investment in the coming years. For those interested, exploring options in Limassol could be a rewarding starting point.

Pilfering shamelessly, having stumbled across this and the additional images elsewhere.

No images of the interior, however some clever folk used google streetview to look at the place in 2008, 2012, 2014, 2019, and at some point between then and now.

Note the changes in the shape of the main hedge, including the addition of a curve.

Description

I am probably going to get sacked when the owner reads my description...but in the meantime we are running with it! Yes its a right dump, but its a large dump. And actually look a little closer and its not as bad as it may seem. There are number of replacement windows, has a modern fuse box and the roof looks good with lead flashing around the firewalls and chimney. And its big, offering a large sitting room, dining room, kitchen, conservatory, three bedrooms and an upstairs bathroom. The garden is pretty decent too. This is your chance to save Santa and bag yourself a bargain too! Offered for sale with no forward chain.
