Absolutely agree with bringing in better labelling and supporting local farmers. With the effects of the ME war just starting on food prices, our governments are going to have to have to find new ways to help not only farmers but consumers.

To corporates like this, cattle are just a commodity. There is so much callousness in the cattle industry and so much suffering by these sentient animals many think of as a steak on a plate.

Australia’s most decorated living soldier was arrested on Tuesday and will be charged with five counts of war crime murders relating to the killing of unarmed civilians while on deployment in Afghanistan.

The man, whom police identified as a 47-year-old former Australian Defence Force member and media named as Ben Roberts-Smith, was arrested at Sydney Airport on Tuesday morning.

He will be charged with five counts of war crimes in connection to the murder of five people in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2012, Australian Federal Police (AFP) said. The maximum penalty for each charge is life imprisonment.

Among the accusations reported were that Roberts-Smith had shot dead an unarmed Afghan teenager and kicked a handcuffed man off a cliff before ordering him to be shot dead.

In short:

The smallest town in Australia with its own postcode has been listed for sale, including a four-bedroom home and several revenue streams.

Cooladdi's two residents have decided to leave the relatively busy outback post after serving the wider community for three years.

It means whoever takes over will be expected to be a jack-of-all-trades, working as a postie, publican, motelier, restaurateur and shopkeeper.

Amanda Cooper lost the election. It was a very close contest, only 31 votes once preferences were distributed. But Bart Mellish did win. Google knows this, all the top results show Bart Mellish's official pages, social media, and news/encyclopaedia articles about him.

I can only assume its AI crawler saw the first preference votes and a reasoning model decided that must mean Amanda Cooper won. Because no actual written source could have reported that.

I tried the search again a few minutes later and got the correct result.

The US-Israeli war on Iran has triggered the worst energy crisis in modern history. Australia imports roughly 90% of its liquid fuel, and petrol prices have already jumped more than 50 cents a litre since the start of the war, with only 36 days of petrol supply remaining.

This is a manufactured crisis driven by imperialist aggression, fossil fuel dependency, and decades of inaction. We, the undersigned, demand the following four urgent actions:

  • Make peace

  • Deliver Free & Frequent Public Transport

  • Make Polluters Pay

  • Electrify Everything

The humble footpath could be the answer to being more active, with new research showing regional Australians living in "walkable towns" travelled 75 minutes more on foot each week.
