You said you live in a socialist society and work at Sonic. Those can’t both be true.

And the answer depends on the country but in general you end up some sort of bum but don’t actually starve to death.

Don’t you work at Sonic in the extremely capitalist USA?

Guessing you’re a young person without much money playing devil’s advocate about why couldn’t we have a real social safety net like most developed countries.

Next time drop the act.

You said force of rotation but the chart is talking about RPM.

Still only 1G.

Why? It’s still just 1G.

Do you faint when descending in an elevator?

Not a problem when you’re sleeping lying down.

Small ships would have to rotate really fast to make 1G, and it’s not worth the trouble if nobody lives there permanently.

People forget the US installed a dictator so it could more easily rob Iran of its natural resources.

Context: Searching for a new senior level software development job over a 9 week period in summer 2025.

  • Focused mostly on data engineering and backend roles that are in-person or hybrid in the SF Bay Area.
  • Leads from recruiters on LinkedIn were much more likely to lead to interviews+offers.
  • The winning offer came through my personal network.
  • I mostly used Hiring.cafe for prospecting. They're a scraper with an interface I didn't hate.

I have a bunch of plain text recipe files on a NAS. If a family member wants to cook something, they ask me to print them a copy.

I’m looking for a simple as possible way to put them on a local web server via a Docker image or similar.

Basically all I need is to have http://recipes.local/ show the list of files, then you can click one to view and or print it.

Don’t want logins. Don’t need ability to edit files. Want something read-only I can set and forget while I continue to manage the content directly on the NAS.

What would you suggest?

One of my kids wants to buy Minecraft Java for the family shared MacMini.

Is it possible for siblings to share it using different local MacOS accounts? Do they need to all share the same MS accounts, or is it possible to share one local install with multiple MS accounts?

Anything else I should be aware of on install? I’ve never played Minecraft so IDK what to ask.

Todays lunch was grilled cheese.

There was a recent short downtime and I wanted to check for any support messages, but I couldn't find any way to view them in Matrix without making an account at some random server I've never heard of.

IRC usually allows anonymous logins for browse. Any way to get Sopuli status without additional account creation?

If I shoot it from just the right angle you almost can’t see the shaping error.
