I made my own 3D printer in 2014 (E3D, Core-XY, oversized Nema motors, ...), but it has been sitting in the garage for too long and it's a bit bulky, finicky and so on. A good first try IMO back when crappy chinese ones was 700-800€ on AliBaba... But because my kid asked me if we couldn't buy one, and this one specifically, I checked it out, it's ~300€ which I thought was way too cheap for something reliable but things have changed in the 3D print world it seems, and I haven't kept up.

So I'm mostly looking for something reliable (or easily fixable, I do have printed a bunch of stuff so I know how things work, at least I have had all the basics problems :-) ) and in a box, no need for anything fancy.

I read that the hotend isn't interchangeable, or you go third-party, but I will mostly (only?) use PLA which is not very abrasive.

I also read that you can use other slicers, which is nice. Future proofing is nice.

Thoughts / recommendations ?

Thanks!

Edit: Kid just sent me the " 3D Bambu Lab P1S" too, but I think I don't like the closed echo system of the Bambu... is it a legit concern ?

Paywalled. (I hope there is more to it than the copy paste text).

Is the text "it's not gonna suck itself"?

But do they make a loss?

Creation isn't always about maximizing cashflows.

Well we know what names they'd get in the USA.

Edit: Trump1, Trumps son, King trump etc

That'd help with the blowjobs I guess, or can you refuse in this new world order?

PIC fan eh 😁

Just switch to Atmega and C/C++!

Just kidding, I don't know of a linux version of pic basic, but you could still program on your arch, but compile on windoze. For example through a shared folder. You could probably automate it too, to compile when there are changes etc.

Good luck!

You can do it for free in your mind and they can't stop you.

I always hated TCL, it's so 1980s. I mean the syntax is quite inconsistent and lacks modern features.

A slow game (or is someone has a better name please do tell!) is a multiplayer game where you get some action points every day (or twice a day), that you spend on walking around and usually fighting monsters a la CRPG.

Played in a browser those games took like 5 minutes a day to play and were quite popular in the early 2000. Obviously people spent more time setting up groups going hunting or fulfilling some quest, often for weeks and weeks...

Have you played one of would you try one out?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for something to republish regularly (like every week would be perfect), that might interest lemmings or other fediverse people.

Why? It's to test out the tenfingers protocol and show how it can work like a distributing platform.

So any idea what I can try out with, it can be text (like an rss feed), audio, video or some webpage I guess. As long as it's regularly updated and that would pique the interest of people who are a bit tech savvy/curious.

Cheers

I get recommend loads of thise videos, some channels have a million users, others a couple of hundred, but they all feature a 3D Sarah Payne AI bot talking, sometime with another bot intervention, "explaining" on a backdrop of AI selected images.

Is this just something to skip, report or is it supposed normal behavior nowadays?

Edit: The button was "under" the phone UI, which explains the problem. Carefully clicking makes it "function". The app insta crashes at every image download though, like it did a while back, so it's the same old bug. Im on xiaomi hyper os.

Popup after saving an image (the image gets saved! But then this garassed you until you hit "OK" and the app restarts)

Not relevant any more:

~~When trying to save images, everything is as usual, except the image isn't saved, and the "image saved" popup doesn't show up.

The bug feels like the download button just doesn't do anything.~~

Cheers and congratulations on the new version!

Not appreciated, I'm removing it.

The original problem was:

1 It frose up the app for around 15 seconds when downloading an image.

2 Frequently after downloading an image, the app started popping messages it didn't function (a popup with two choices, select one and continue for some seconds until the popup respawn, or second choice restart the app).

It went away some maybe 2 weeks ago (I did post that it was now working as expected).

But today (yesterday?) with the new update, the bug is back.

Good luck and thanks for all the other betterings!

Cheers

PS. My older post is just a bit further down, and the fix was around 17 days ago (more info about OS HyperOS etc).

They never get as good if I have ample space all around.

Just curious, do you tinker with small solar panels to recharge batteries for your projects?

I bought a chinese one and its performance is abysmal, so I thought I'd better ask around before buying more ewaste :-/

I'd love a solar powered robot but that seems hard, but wifi modules and control systems should be able to work solar only, right?

Tenfingers sharing protocol

To test out the tenfingers protocol in a real world use case, I made a small html/js entrypoint for tenfingers (.10f) files.

Security is of course a concern with downloading things inside a javascript on a web page, so there are restrictions on how it can be used.

If you want to try it out, and give some feedback I'd be quite happy!

To do so:

Go to this link where you can download the html & js code (3 files) and a tenfingers test link.

Put them all in a temporary folder, and open the download.html file in your favorite browser, from there you can 'load' the 10f file.

The code is slow, does not give much details of what's happening (hit F12 and check the 'console' tab (Firefox, other browsers might vary) or just check CPU usage (decryption is slow) so please be patient.

And please please report back, especially if something or nothing seems to work!

Cheers & thanks!
