Whenever someone complains about why their shared video link on YouTube 'won't work'.

It works, but people largely forgot that Google stupidly ruined that ability for everyone by making it mandatory that you be logged in to watch videos, so you're not flagged as a bot. But, since you're sharing a link to the video or embedding it, you can't watch it anyways because the stupid prompt shows up, forcing you to go to the site itself.

Windows XP

When Windows XP first released, people criticized it for having a theme that they hadn't seen before in Windows. People thought it was very kiddish and appealing to children, not being taken as seriously for the large userbase of the time. There were also criticisms about how fragile Internet Explorer was (I'm not kidding, I was there and Internet Explorer back then was at its most insufferable.).

But these days, just because of how bad Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and now 11 have been, people have praised Windows XP so much.

To clarify:

ProtonMail. I don't hate it, but their choices in what to monetize is bizarre to me, like the ability to make more folders than three, you have to pay to have more folders. Also, it's not a perfect mail system, you're going to not get or be able to send 100% of mail because there are mail services people or businesses use that simply don't register when using ProtonMail.

In an age where there are tons and tons of things out there that is a subscription, paying for the ability to have more features that have been normalized would turn off some people.

The olympics.

I still hadn't cared for the olympics in quite a while, and I find that its last spark of relevance has faded back in the 90s/early 2000s. It has become politicized and commercialized, where there's little to no sense in getting that interested in them. It's also about just circlejerking for whichever country won the most medals, which ultimately doesn't matter compare to if we can respect a country that doesn't contribute to anymore shit that others do overall.

Also it's no surprise some of or most of the people attending are probably doped up too, so who cares about authenticity?

Just things in periods of time where at first, you didn't care about it but then comparing to the way things are now, to then, you soften a little to where you kinda wished that you got a little more involved on.

I personally wished that sometimes I would've been there to actively watch and follow a few channels on YouTube in their heyday. Because I just learned recently that the Gaming Historian was ceasing doing gaming-history content and I watched that announcement video, wishing I could've been there since Day 1 to follow the path all the way until that end.

Another that I still sometimes wish I could experience from the beginning is 2 Sense, that old online radio show I mentioned to someone a couple weeks ago when I asked another question about what do you listen to over and over about. I got into that show sometime in mid-2008, but by then, a lot of the earlier stuff were already long done by the time I started listening. The show at the time, really opened my eyes to a lot of the world, even when there were things about the show that I could say, I could go without. But, I think it would've helped kick off my maturity just a little earlier if I had dived into that show when it began and follow it.

AI can't be all that bad. The problem I'm always seeing with AI is a double-edged sword. You have corporations shoving AI in just about everything, treating it like its a cure for cancer and that really rubs people the wrong way. Then, on a more of a society level, you've got people who use AI for an assortment of things like making art with AI and still accredit themselves as an artist to people who treat AI like a therapist when it is not advised to.

However, I've found some benefits with AI. For example, I'm chatting with ChatGPT on credit cards, because it is something I may lean towards getting into. It's helping me better understand than most people have tried explaining to me. Simply because it is giving me a more stream-lined response than people just beating the bush.

There's a show I still listen to, that's 20+ years old and hasn't made any new episodes for 6 years. I don't quite vibe with the newer episodes so I don't listen to them. I however, very annually and religiously, have listened to the backlog of the older shows from 2003 - 2005, 2006 - 2008 respectively. It's to a point where I know them completely by heart and know what to expect per episode.

I've listened to them at various points in my life and at different locations. They are to me, like time capsules, that rewind me back to periods in time that make me think a lot of where I was then, where things were in general, what could've been, what would've been .etc

I just can't seem to get tired of them, despite me having tried to take lengthy breaks, to listen to newer things along the way. I listen to them to sleep to, they've become white noise. The longer I go listening to them however, the more times I'm reminded of various things that isn't just the past. Things like "oh, I was at this point with someone when i listened to this episode" so it has kindof served as a callback of some sorts. Amazing how that works. That's how I resonate a lot with music in general is that I can recall things based on what songs I've listened to, that'll remind me of things based on where I've listened to them and what my surroundings were.

And this show is great at that too.

People just adding others in pseudo-friendships, friendships that don't really mean anything and people treating others like they're a service or speed-dial or so. I am part of the last generation of people it feels like, where, you befriended someone with intent to build a bond with them and that bond is built upon year after year. You gain memories, then when the old memories are old, you make new ones.

I've noticed an alarming amount of people who'll just add you because they only see you as someone to lean on. Not because the relationship is meaningful, but someone who is just there 'when in need' as they go off not doing anything for large portions of time. This creates an artificial, shallow and hollow experience where a lot of time, you will feel like you're the one upholding the friendship.

And that only isn't normal to me, but simply unacceptable. Then you've got people who can't even go a day without communication so now they call it 'ghosting' which is another overly spammed word that has lost meaning. I'm low maintenance, who can go periods of time without talking but at the same time, I do also want things to be meaningful. Doesn't have to be constant, just something within the year.

And I've had people in my life who simply cannot do that. I've had people who still consider friends after not talking for years and years. What do you mean you're okay with that? That's lost time! I don't enjoy having to spend however long playing catch up.
