I had like, 3 hours of sleep last night. Why am I still awake!?

Hey, shit sleep club is popping off. I did go to bed very early. And took a magnesium pill w/dinner to combat muscle soreness. Maybe a familiar movie will bore my brain into more sleep.
I did the same re: super early bed and magnesium tablet.
I'm going to get some restavit tomorrow from the chemist to see if it knocks me out for a full 8 hours.
Shit, even 6 hours uninterrupted would be a god send.
Short nap after putting the kids down coupled with a sore throat. Having a great time here
checking in here, woke up with a tummy ache as well to boot.
Oh my god our Eurovision entry was so good ๐คฉ Fingies crossed we make it through!
My votes today went to: Finland (fucking love), Latvia and Malta.
Erika Vikman is my queen. Ich komme indeed, Erika ๐ฅต

Cold mornings serve as a reminder to moisturise face and hands.
My face is starting to get so dry
I've been slapping the Nivea cream on for a few weeks. For once I'm trying to be proactive with skincare.
I tried the Aldi night cream I used to use but it stung so they changed it.
Guess I just keep layering unscented body lotion over the Cerave lotion (itโs a little too light but I dislike their thicker creams)
I have made it to Ballarat. Looking at the traffic going into the city I am glad I wasn't travelling the other way.
I have hot air coming from my ceiling vents, and hot water comes out of the taps. The internet is internetting. Now I need to do a bit of cleaning and start making the place look more like a home.
Sounds wonderful.
In a way we are so spoiled to have such luxuries as warmth and hot water on tap.
I donโt think Iโd manage without. As cool as bushcraft videos are Iโm an inside cat
eat a takeaway pizza whilst sitting on the living room floor. its tradition.
yup ๐๐ซ๐ช
Grats! The new phase is so weird but it will be home soon
Has anyone else noticed Bonds stuff is shit these days?
I used to be able to rely on them for fairly good quality clothes but yeah. Stuff falls apart really quickly now.
Their baby stuff has been good but it doesn't surprise me it's all on a downwards trend
As colour isnt as good as it used to be either. Step ones are complete crap too! I'm wearing uniqlo and wayver stuff a fair bit lately for a combination of cost and seems to last ok.
Yep. Undies and socks are much thinner.
I definitely noticed they have cheaped out with the manufacturing. Fewer pockets, sticky zippers and lighter fabric weights.
Havenโt bought Bonds in years because itโs now overpriced and the last time I checked them out the cuts were really weird
and expensive
I may as well buy european clothes for the same price
Complete shit. Mostly the underwear. And vastly overpriced for the 'quality'. Don't even bother with their socks/underpants - go to Kmart/Target for those. Kmart has good bamboo fibre socks, my last lot from there has lasted about 3 years on high rotation which is good for socks I reckon. Bonds still has reasonable trackie daks and hoodies.
Itโs awful. The fabric is tissue thin and the elastic in the underpants stretches out of shape within 6 months. I am completely happy paying a premium price for good quality basics, I just which I could find some! My money is available for any brands willing to make a decent product. I suspect thereโs little incentive though, because dirt cheap material costs and frequent repurchase is probably more profitable than higher quality and lasts longer. The modern economy has deemed I must wear shit undies.
Early morning tv review.
The Hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Netflix. 3 episodes.
This was a well made short over view of the events leading up to and the reaction to the events of 9/11. It showed the dedication, skills and the personal cost experienced of all those involved in bringing justice and making the world safer.
4 hobbits
( maybe shouldn't have stayed up watching this, tho I already know this story well having read many technical books and biographies . So no surprises. But I did have a nasty nightmare , I think from last Saturday's train drama. )
Secureboot has been the bane of my existence recently. That's what was causing problems on the work laptop, and now it has turned on on my main laptop for some reason. It's locked to On as well, apparently I'd need an administrator password to turn it off. This laptop was from an old prospective employer that never asked for it back, so I'm certainly not going to be able to get that changed.
Seems every time I find some curtains I like they turn out to be made in India by probable near slaves. Either I stop investigating or put it back on the DIY list? Gah, I fucking hate sewing slippery shear things.
Aw yeeeee The Guardian app now has the cryptic crosswords - used to be a seperate app until they pulled it. Love me cryptics! Takes a while to learn each setters esoteric use of cryptic clues, but once one does one feels very "s.m.r.t"
You have a special talent if you can work out cryptic clues. I do not possess such talent.
A lot of it is less to do with general knowledge/definitions, and more wordplay.
Eg: in a clue, sometimes the phrase "caught in" or "buried in", even "inside", is used - it means the answer is in the clue itself. It could be an anagram of a word used in the clue, or the answer itself contained in another word. An example from the NYT:
Clue: Lover of birds imprisoned in Alcatraz
Answer
Cat. "Cat" is the answer 'imprisoned' in Alcatraz, with "lover of birds" acting as a descriptor of the answer.
There's so many more techniques like that - approaching the cryptics like a wordplay game instead of a trivia game will help with completing them! The Guardian has beginner cryptics too, so it's easier to get into this genre of crossword!
Best clue in a cryptic I ever came across was 'Triumph for Mrs Mop" 8/7. I had _ _ e _ _ _ n _ / _ _ c _ _ r _ in the grid already.
answer
Sweeping victory
That's very helpful. Thanks.
I found a book on a chuck out table that explained cryptics really well. Didn't help me with half the puzzles in the book because wtf do I know about American tv presenters of the 90s, but the 'this word means it's an anagram' stuff was great
My cryptic skills max out at The Age. I can't do Guardian cryptics - though, once upon a time I insisted I couldn't do cryptics at all and then got addicted to the easier ones so I guess there's something to be said about giving it a go!
Happy Murderbot episode 1 day to all those who celebrate (me, it's probably only me, right?)
Well, I complained and complained about my unit being a hot oven over summer but it's working to my advantage with this cool weather atm. Let's see how well it holds up over the weekend. Still haven't gotten the oodie out or heater on. No thermals, no puffer jacket...
Door track cleanliness has been aquired
Vacuuming and washing the outside of the windows has also been done. I'm just about to start on mopping and then I can spend some time assembling things (and bringing more stuff in from the van).
I have decided whoever installed the sliding doors here put them in the wrong way. The traffic flow through both the laundry and the living room would work better if they opened in the other direction, and the space for the washing machine (with both the power point and drainage point in the sink) would block the doorway if you actually put the machine there. Fortunately it's a big area and there is still space for the machine, but I am going to have to run the power cord across to the other side of the sink and hook the drainage pipe over the side of the sink instead of using the built in drainage hole.
Glad I cut up heaps of fruit for the inevitable waking. Strawberries and jazz apples are a good combo with salada and peanut butter.
Who am I? Tony Barber! Every single time.
I miss that show so fucking much lol
