Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

And no-one in authority does anything.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 16 points 7 months ago (1 children)

There's only Republicans in authority now, so of course they don't do anything.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 3 points 7 months ago

Dems are worthless, chosen to be worthless by the donors, that is why they are not in power. They were and changed nothing, offered nothing in campaign. We are not the other guys was their pitch.

In 2016, 2020, 2024, and 2028 if we keep the same hacks in charge and everyone is parroting their points passing the buck so they do not have to admit a mistake.

[–] hemmes@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago

Not a thing. The GOP was testing and we now know the results. They can do anything they like.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 months ago

It’s fucking wild you can look at the last 10 years and think “authority” has any meaning in the US.

The CITIZENS are the ones doing fuck all.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

The one in The Epstein Files?

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 17 points 7 months ago

If Trump tried to squat like that his diaper would pop and he'd never be able to stand back up without help.

[–] RockBottom@feddit.org 16 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Renaming the American former so called defense department to war department is Trumps first honest move.

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

He articulated all of this during the campaign

His flying monkeys were saying in March that they would make blue state politicians pay (locking them up was the context) for standing up against Trump

They have been honest the whole time

It’s the NYT that has been papering over all his threats

I still wonder if he wasn't reading some Chomsky when this idea slipped into what passes for his brain.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago

let that bitch set foot in chiraq

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 14 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I thought he was going after Chipotle.

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 1 points 7 months ago

I though it was chips. Which as a Brit I can assure you would not go down well here.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Would someone please not miss?

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 6 points 7 months ago

A butterfly shoulda flapped its wings a little harder on the other side of the earth.

They really dropped the ball on that one

[–] shiroininja@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago (1 children)

More like chip-pocalypse because the fatass ate them all

[–] koella@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 months ago

I read it as Chipotlacopolypse, which is what will happen in his diaper if he ever tries Mexican food.

So is no one going to talk about the fact that in the photo he is clearly fleeing from Chicago. In the picture Chicago is fine all of the helicoptors are going the opposite direction and his boat is on fair.

Edit: not the boat but the water that is clearly closer to him

[–] brezel@piefed.social 6 points 7 months ago

obviously this is the opposite of anti-american. there are 340 million people that could do something about it.

[–] Liljekonvalj@feddit.org 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

That post makes it seem like he's inciting civil war... Or trying to destroy the country he's in charge of. Which, yeah? But how is this legal?

[–] KeavesSharpi@lemmy.ml 1 points 7 months ago

It's legal because 6 of the supreme court justices said that he's immune for any criminal acts as president. Trump is king now. Has been since January 6, 2025.

[–] solrize@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 months ago

Electric boogaloo plot twist?

[–] tryagain@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I don't think it's even AI generated. Don't all the colours have to balance out to grey? It looks too dark and red. And the "Chipocalypse" was absolutely hand-drawn. And that's Trump's head pasted on Robert Duvall's body from an actual still in the movie; AI wouldn't do that.

Unless I've fallen behind the aigen curve again, I think this is bona fide meatsack art and that makes it...worse.

[–] KeavesSharpi@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

Don’t all the colours have to balance out to grey?

I've never heard that. Why would it have to?

[–] tryagain@lemmy.ml 1 points 7 months ago

I don't know shit about the actual mechanics of AI image generation, but I know they always start as random noise, and if you averaged out the hex values of every pixel, they would end up a uniform shade of grey. Or something like that.

Someone else who knows: please weigh in!
