Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether it be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users, as it handwaves their extremism.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in arguments that lack mutual agreement.

Brigading/Trolling — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from maliciously voting, commenting, or manipulating the post in any way. This includes alt accounts. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be banned. Good-faith and honest communication is an exception.

Tankies can explain their views, but may be criticised or challenged for them. Any minor infraction of the rules may result in a warning and possibly a temporary ban.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically last only 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction doubles the duration. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

Any country that says that they don't have any "homeless or beggars" is either lying, or killing people on the street.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 14 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Or living in a labour camp.

[–] ilega_dh@feddit.nl 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ah that’s what they mean with “right to work”!

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Hey they have “right to work” in Florida! They must be the most “Democratic” place in the world!

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

The part they don't like talking about is the police approach homeless people in China and give them the option to either do whatever job tbey are given or go to prison and dissapear.

You can criticize the US without making other authoritarian states look good. Both can be bad

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 year ago (8 children)

Reality is a team sport, to some people. They have no objective means of evaluating claims. In their worldview, that is not what claims are for.

Their bodies have adapted so well to boot licking, they can actually get sick and die from shoe polish withdrawal. That's the only rational explanation I can come up with.

[–] Saledovil@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Also US citizens are allowed to criticize the US.

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure North Korean citizens are also allowed to criticize the US so no fundamental difference here (/s if not obvious)

Why can't we just agree that both the US and DPRK are undemocratic?

🤦

Sorry you had to go through so much hate.

[–] deaf_fish@lemm.ee 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

It does feel bad, but I keep thinking about the people who don't know any better falling into that way of thinking. If there is at least one person in there questioning their circle jerk. I feel like it can save people a lot of trouble.

Thanks for creating this post! I think it also helps.

[–] goat@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's most likely why your comments were removed and your account banned, huh? Can't have dissent.

[–] deaf_fish@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Yup, they are not interested in having real discussions. They are just larping.

I know some of them are victims and are just there because they fell for it. You can tell because they are the ones who engage you with curiosity instead of contempt.

[–] timestatic@feddit.org 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah sure, NK is a total utopia. Especially like the part where it says "Workers are the owner of the means of production" as if they didn't have one dictator that was in charge without anyone really having a choice.

[–] match@pawb.social 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

yeah Kim owns the means of production but he also works real hard /s

When they refer to South Korea as Occupied Korea, I almost can’t breathe from laughing.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago (7 children)

If the "D"RPK is so great, why can't people leave?

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 12 points 1 year ago

You know your country is a grade A shit hole where leaving brands you a traitor. Assuming you're successful that is, and don't get killed for trying.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"They just don't to leave!"

/s, but also that's actually their argument.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Its also a stupid argument, I love the country I'm in, but I'm still going to leave to go on holiday or something.

also look at these weird ass rule. This is for the "korea" community

Insecure much?

[–] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago (7 children)

I love how this kinds of communities describe themselfes as welcome to discussion and the write all the "facts" as a rule and everybody who says anything els gets banned.

[–] goat@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 year ago (11 children)

Yeah, I don't really understand why tankies pretend to be liberals so much. So many of their communities are all like 'discussion welcome!'

But of course it isn't actually welcome. I've noticed that it's special to tankies, and that other extremists openly embrace their ignorance.

I like how this ignores that not only did the DPRK start the war, but the vast majority of the UN lined up behind South Korea, after the USSR stormed out of the security council meeting - they still had quorum, but the Soviets apparently assumed they didn’t, or would adjourn, or something. They didn’t. As a direct result, United Nations Command was established to specifically support South Korea in 1950.

I want every ml in the world to move to north korea or china or any country they stan so much and live there for the rest of their life so that they will feel how "great" and "democratic" these "utopias" are.

[–] goat@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

They absolutely can move to their favourite places. Iran, China, Russia -- But they never do. They're very lazy. Or perhaps deep down they know that their entire being is a trend that they latched onto to look better.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 year ago (4 children)

If you ever bring it up they’ll say something along the lines of “well why don’t you pay for my move then”.

[–] goat@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

I've found that they usually just quieten down, really odd.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I'll chip in some dollars, lets crowdfund this!

[–] PlasticLove@lemmy.today 7 points 1 year ago

I’ll pay for a one way ticket, the wonderful democratic utopia will provide them the rest.

[–] Jiggle_Physics@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I am willing to start crowd funding their immigration

[–] TassieTosser@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

About 2k per tankie to never heard from them again is a bargain.

Maximal working hour: 8 per day.

And how many days per week?

Women and Men receive the same payment for the same work

That payment? $24 per year.

That's not a joke. That is the real number at the black market exchange rate.
