MODERATORS

That’s true for many Americans, as rising healthcare costs leave more families with a sinking feeling after seeing the bill for surgery or medication. Heading into the Nov. 3 midterm elections, about half of registered voters said healthcare costs are a major problem for them and their families, up from a little more than one-third four years ago, according to a Fox News poll from September.

With party control of Congress at stake, registered voters are nearly twice as likely to say they trust Democrats over Republicans to handle healthcare, according to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll from the same month. Those frustrations, combined with broader concerns over rising prices, have sapped support for President Donald Trump and his Republican Party.

Her on the way to the voting booth

[–] 01011@monero.town 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I stopped feeling bad for these morons a while ago.

They vote against our collective interests and then get platformed when it bites them in the ass.

Isn't this "god's judgment" that these weirdos are forever bleating about?

[–] artyom@piefed.social 19 points 2 days ago

She backed Trump in each of his three campaigns, motivated by her opposition to abortion

Oof

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 51 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It saddens me that I can't bring myself to feel bad for her. Three fucking times she voted for this shit. Three. It's mind-numbing and I hate it.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think the thing I miss most since Trumps first run is my sense of empathy and sympathy. I used to have a belief of sure there's disagreement and there's room for it. Fuck that noise now. Republicans keep voting to hurt my friends consistently. At this point anyone says they're a republican I assume they've lost all sense of humanity, and the head of their party at this point has zero redeeming qualities... even amongst his supporters his chronic backstabbing can't stop.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 days ago

I agree. It's madness.

I keep coming back to the horrified astonishment I felt in late 2025. It was kinda excusable in 2016. But after already having seen what he did to the country for 4 years, and then after Jan 6...

And mind you, my demented, ever conservative, ever pro-capitalist and btw also pro-apartheid father, even he thinks Trump is an idiot who should be nowhere near political power.

What's the answer here? Seems the USA have a deeper problem. I think it's that particularly poisonous combination of consumer capitalism on steroids, and generations of lack of or plain bad education that's often more aligned with capitalist interests. Oh and the history of "The American Dream", i.e. hope that you're the one out of a thousand who succeeds in raping everything and everyone around you for financial gain.

[–] 01011@monero.town 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I notice you skipped past the mounds of white supremacist bullshit that Americans are force feed during the course of their lives. The same cord that Trump was able to pull on to attract the white vote.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

It was nowhere near excusable in 2016. You already had decades of information about who trump was and nearly a decade of the Tea Party showing you EXACTLY the kind of people they were.

"I voted for the evil orange turd because of abortion, but turns out I should have cared about other issues too."

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 29 points 2 days ago

And been aware of the actual facts of abortion, not what she was fed by the right to keep her voting for them.

At least the cancer believes in affordability even if Trump doesn't.

Conservative victims and desire to destroy everything has led to an increase in everything awful.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 68 points 2 days ago

They're always OK with other people not having healthcare but they'll squeal like stuck pigs if it's taken away from them.

doG, it looks like a seal!

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I think you mean walrus. Seals are skinnier.

[–] Trigger2_2000@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

Elephant seal.

She has repeatedly voted so that only the wealthy get full cancer care. Do you know how many people give up on proven treatment because of finances? Hope you enjoy the bills you vored for, bitch.

[–] decolo@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago

enjoy the bills you vored for

new findom just dropped: finvore

[–] undecidedyellow@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She voted for Trump in 2016, and his first four years seemed steady, so she voted for him again in 2020.

Yup, COVID was real steady

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 days ago

That line stood out to me too, letting my know this lady is completely full of shit. No one lived through 2020 and called it "steady". She voted for other people's suffering and is trying to claim it was about anything but.

[–] Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk 40 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Time and time again conservative voters prove they have absolutely zero empathy or concern until they are personally affected by something.

Fuck her, she got exactly what she voted for.

[–] DementedSociety@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

100% What a dumb bitch.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I feel so owned.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Well, there's some karma.

[–] blastosist@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 days ago

Used to have sympathy for the rubes who voted for this, but not anymore. Their ignorance has done more to undo this country than my worst predictions.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

"But but I said to the rapist! Go, rapist, go! Fuck that kid in the poosy! And now he come for me! Why, the rapist? Why?!"

[–] sns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 3 days ago

Maybe cancer can fix stupid.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 22 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Sorry, can't feel bad for her. Also, $1300 car payment?

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Re: $1300 car payments:

Many vehicles costing upward of 20k or more, probably averaging out for most makes and models to 30K +, no down payment or trade in, being pushed for a shorter term loan, and easily over 6% loan APR?

Yup…car payments get crazy. I put 7K down and had a credit score of 83X back in 2024 when I bought my 2025 Forester at 33K and the best APR I could get was like a 5.7%. My payments are around $520/mo.

Shit is WORSE today with inflation, tariffs, etc.

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I just got a $19k car loan for about that APR for 5 years and am only paying ~$350. I actually could have gotten just under 3% if I used my bank, but they were too limiting in where I could buy from. My credit rating is 800+.

You’re surprised this dumbass makes poor shortsighted choices?

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 2 points 2 days ago

My deepest apologies for my intended snark not being appropriately communicated through the medium of text.

Leopards and preyerz

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don’t worry… he has a plan.

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 days ago

A concept of a plan

[–] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Good. Didn't even read the article, I'm satisfied with how that title ends.

How can we give more Republicans cancer? 🧐

[–] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Damn, that sucks. Hand over you right to vote.

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

The reality is that someone getting free healthcare and getting paid 175000 a year with other benefits doesn't care about you.

[–] joeschmoe@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Haha, get fucked.
