Ohio’s MAGA gubernatorial candidate suffered a brutal humiliation in front of voters Saturday when he tried—and failed—to pull off the classic politician move of kissing a baby.

Vivek Ramaswamy was working the crowd at a campaign event in Vandalia, Ohio, when he spotted a child holding a sign that read, according to Ramaswamy, “My dad is deployed—proud military kid for Trump.”

The 10-year-old boy was exactly the kind of young voter a MAGA ally would want to spotlight at a Trump rally: a military kid, a Trump supporter, and an easy opportunity for a candidate to play up his patriotism.

So Ramaswamy invited the child onstage. Then he decided to take things one step further.

“I’m going to pick you up,” he told the boy.

The candidate managed to raise the child a few inches off the ground before appearing to lose his grip.

The 10-year-old boy

Ah yes, a 120-month old baby.

Gang Of Pedophiles strike again

Thats a big boy. It would be a little weird to kiss him with no relation whatsoever. Platonically it can be pulled off but not by a politician, real life Vivek gravely miscalculated

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Yeah Vivek is pure cringe. Remember when he went on a Christmas day rant about how entitled American workers are for wanting fair pay? Then he and Elon bashed American workers as inferior. Can't believe anyone in Ohio would vote for him.

Child of immigrants who wants to end birthright citizenship.

He is everything that Ohio republicans claim they are against: child of immigrants, corporate shill, heavily involved in “big pharma,” vegetarian, Hindu, Ivy League graduate, reaps huge political donations from out-of-state….

But he’s got an [R] next to his name, so they’ll support him. They have no convictions. They treat politics like a team sport.

How are all their articles just so so bad?

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because journalism is dead.

More TDB slop to appease the mindless.

This non-story should have never been written and entered the public mind.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I'd love for him to lose, but I just don't expect it to happen. Anyone in Ohio should campaign against him though

Did you mean to post an article or just the tiny gif?

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

I did, even posted the link in the right spot but I forget that if I add a gif it nulls out the article link. Its been fixed. Sorry for the mistake.
