Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

U.S. President Donald Trump seemingly discussed the idea of foreign powers taking out California’s most populated cities while delivering a speech at a Republican rally at the Pinnacle Bank Expo in Grand Island, Nebraska Monday evening.

“With the war it’s just artificial, it’s a little bit high, it’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They could take out a city. Let ‘em take out Los Angeles. Let ‘em take out San Diego,” Trump said, drawing cheers from the crowd. “This is a very small price to pay and it’s going to be over very soon. It’s essentially almost over with.”

Every time I think my faith in humanity couldn't be shaken further, I find ways to be surprised.

[–] angstylittlecatboy@reddthat.com 136 points 1 week ago (3 children)

It's a crowd that would actually go to a Trump rally in 2026. Don't hinge your faith in humanity on self selected bad people.

[–] mystik@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is anyone doing any kind of facial recognition on any of the shots of the crowds that get out? Any bets on how many in the crowd are part of the traveling circus?

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He has enough evil fucks who fully support his attacks on the US that he doesn't need a traveling circus.

We very much have a Nazi problem.

I dunno. I lose faith in humanity just for the fact there are still people going to his rallies

Ah yes, "let them take out Los Angeles," a city that would rank as the 19th highest GDP if it was its own country. A city that alone contributes 4+% of the USA's economic output. Great strategy, Commander in Soiled Briefs.

Can you imagine if Obama said ISIS could take out San Antonio?

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 55 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I really can't imagine anyone but Trump saying something like this

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, during the start of COVID, I think it was either Trump himself or his chief of staff who said that COVID was a blue state thing, basically saying that it wasn't worth doing anything about as long as it was killing Democrats.

I'm sure there are other examples, but that one was famous. This is just the kind of inhuman statement that you expect from Trump.

I've seen far more Talarico signs than Paxton signs around here, so I feel like there are more productive cities to threaten. That being said, there are still far too many Paxton signs, so I get it.

Isn't San Diego fairly conservative by California standards?

[–] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 54 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That does not matter if tbey have the wrong skin color.

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 47 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And in California.

As you know, if youre a republican, California = bad.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Even though it has more Republicans than anywhere else in the nation.

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 33 points 1 week ago

If logic or reason worked on these assholes, they wouldn’t be Republicans in the first place

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 37 points 1 week ago

And has a ton of military located there

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 11 points 1 week ago

[–] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ill say it. Fuck Missouri.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah. I live here and this place fucking sucks. It feels like it's literally almost 10 years behind the rest of the country, let alone the rest of the world.

This idiot doesn't know where Iran is. He doesn't know the world is round. He doesn't know Mar-a-Lago is closer than California to Iran. It is literally easier to target him than it is LA.

TRAITOR

I mean, is this how treason works historically? It's only widely accepted after the fact? Like, when you're in it and actively experiencing it most people don't acknowledge it?

That can't be it. People have been executed for treason. Why the fuck are we so bad at this?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 32 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Iran is not stupid, they could take out one golf course in Florida.

Isn't it illegal to incite violence against the citizens of the USA? Especially by the "potus"? In the normal run-by-the-US Constitution world, wouldn't that be considered treason?

[–] FE80@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

Every once in a while Trump does a little treason as a treat.

To paraphrase something I saw online: it's not that he encouraged Iran to bomb California but Trump could bomb California and blame Iran for it.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

Everything is projection, he posited many times that Obama would bomb Iran just in time to rile up war hawk votes. They’ve literally written down their entire fascist plan and people keep treating it all as separate fuckup news stories

this is the president sworn to defend usa soil? impeachment required and jail asking for murder and genocide of the united states citizens out in the open. holy kuf the epstein class is so delusional. besides east coast closer than west coast.

and the people that clap for the murder/genocide of millions of americans by the president in this case. what are these people. after the impeachment definitely need to investigate and jail all of these people actually not even people murders to be or already murders.

‘The most uneducated buffoon in history stands at a podium, bloated with self-importance, lips pursed like a carnival barker ready to sell turd milk to the unsuspecting. He grins a grotesque smirk stretched across his face as he scrawls his name onto a hollow decree, a sham celebration of the dismantling of knowledge itself. The Department of Education falls, not with a bang, but with wheezing verbs, suffocated under the weight of his own staggering ignorance. Surrounding him are the usual suspects: cowards in expensive suits, servile sycophants clapping like trained seals, and racist opportunistic ghouls picking clean the bones of democracy. Liars, fools, and thieves all parasites fattening themselves on the hardships of the many. They stand in rigid formation, dead-eyed and soulless, their allegiance sworn not to country, not to principle, but to power, and the dark, festering rot that clings to it. And there he is the convicted wrong, the living embodiment of septic tank spew, his voice a noxious fog of grift and grievance. He lectures the world on right and wrong, irony clawing at the walls, desperate to escape the grotesque theatre of his moral void. The stomach turns, the air curdles, and for a moment, history itself recoils watching, in horror, as the great American experiment teeters on the precipice, led by a man who couldn't spell "precipice" if his life depended on it.’

I don't know what's worse, three fact he said it or that people cheered when he said it.

[–] Baguette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (6 children)

So the west coast alliance anytime now? If the west coast becomes independent the US loses more than 50% of its economic power

I'm glad he's doing these things so that everyone is reminded that all of them are like this. They're radicals. It needs to be crystal clear so that all of us know what to do.

[–] Clutter@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (4 children)

You just know they talked about this with him. Like a false flag operation type deal. Just like with his assassination attempts.

He just cannot keep his mouth shut about these things hoping he will be thought of as the smart one when it turns out to actually happen!!

let them take out mara lago and other places trump owns. not that I would ever suggest foreign powers who wants to hurt trump to hit things he owns but it does make the most sense and would be the most effective.

He also kept going on about the drug + nuclear bomb combo factories. He has always been a nutter but lately he's going the rallies even bhnis incredibly low standards.

Obvious propaganda is obvious.

This is a distraction ploy, this is what his job is. Look elsewhere to see what his cabinet and the GOP are trying to get you to look away from.

Nobody is immune to propaganda, but we can become aware of it.
