Wouldn't that mean lots of civilian deaths? I don't like Putin but wishing for innocent people to die seems dark.
When I typed the comment I was thinking about hitting a Kremlin tower or something, but I definitely get your response. I just meant some power play without innocent deaths.

Shit happens. Don't go out and support Putin's war if you want your parts to stay attached.

I cannot possibly imagine that they are not planning to make the attempt.
Hopefully they will be careful. A single, well documented attack on civilians would justify a LOT of retaliatory strikes on Ukraine civilians (in Russian eyes).
Taking out the troops/equipment during the parade, without hitting civilians, that would send a message.
They bombed a market in Donetsk last week, but you would never see that on the news.
Civilians are their prime target.
I'm not sure how this could be remotely considered news that sounds satirical but is actually real.
I'd fully expect Ukraine to step up attacks preceding a large event Putin is throwing.

At first I had the same reaction, then I realised that "Man takes increasing number of punches to the face while preparing victory speech" definitely sounds like an Onion headline.
While this isn't a surprising headline, it definitely reads like something that could have been in The Onion, so I think it fits.
Yes, the usual warcrime of attacking large crowds of civilians is 'great news'.
Are these our 'western values' I keep hearing about?
Are they planning to blow up the last Russian tank during the parade?

Not really, at least the carrier was not actively being shelled while he was doing his big thumbs-up.
Fun fact, also, they had to spend time flipping the carrier around in the water so that San Diego wouldn't be in the background and people could assume that he was in the middle of the Persian Gulf I guess.
