SHE was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth. Most of Gen Z and Alpha still grew up struggling

Said the same week as RFK once again floats the idea of institutionalizing the disabled.

These are not off-the-cuff comments. Somewhere behind the veneer of stupidity, more and more members of the current government are pushing the need to imprison or conscript larger and larger swathes of the US population.

Legal slavery

[–] sleepmode@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah this is absolutely propaganda right out of the Project 2025 handbook. Gen-z won’t drink the Kool-Aid and it frightens them. Keep at it.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i thought it was the avacado toast ?

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

That was millenials

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 47 points 3 days ago (4 children)

I have a "real job" making almost $100k/year and things are still expensive. Should I also be sent to Cuba or Iran for stating the obvious?

[–] YoureHotCupCake@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well have you considered getting a real job where you put on make up and then sit in a room full of cameras while you just lie for an hour or two a day to a camera? Now that's a real American job.

[–] atx_aquarian@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Don't forget to marry a sugar daddy/mama. And, by that, I mean someone who literally could be your parent.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 22 points 3 days ago

"yes", fascists, unironically, probably.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago

My question is, can they please send me to Cuba? Fuck this country, I'll take my expertise elsewhere.

Define 'real job', Jesse. Does that include sitting on your arse in front of a camera spewing lies to idiots?

[–] FavouriteShapes@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Right? I would consider reporting, i.e putting a bit of yourself and putting your real opinions/demeanour into the role, to be a real job - but what these people do is just act as mouthpieces for the regime. Everything from their appearance too, to what they say, to how they say it (above tweet is a great example) is suppose to re-inforce the beliefs of our regime. Regime is the right word, btw - it simply means organised power.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah. Watters isn't a reporter. He's a glove puppet, and an unconvincing one at that. Same goes for Leavitt.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

hes a replacement for tucker carlson. his usual shtick was acting as a pundit against "degenerate libs" segment.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He's an even dumber Tucker Carlson, if that's even possible. So, a perfect Fox pundit.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

his role was to get stereotypical "liberals" on his show to make fun of them.

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 38 points 3 days ago (3 children)

like there is jobs everywhere and everyone is hiring....

but basically these conservatives are just assholes

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 32 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

like there is jobs everywhere and everyone is hiring…

Absolutely. And you can pay for a bachelor's degree working a minimum wage job in the summers and you can buy a house and support a wife and kids with an entry-level job.

Or, wait, was that 80 years ago?

Something something avocado toast

[–] Today@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I saw avocado toast on a menu for $17 the other day! Wtf! Who pays that?!

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I just was at a hotel and the horrible 'Continental' breakfast with powdered eggs was 40 fucking dollars. It was included with my stay, but the food was too disgusting to eat. I don't know why you would pay for it.

[–] GuiltyFrost@pawb.social 6 points 2 days ago

I think hotels like that are just banking on enough business travelers coming through who can expense any food to their company.

I was about to correct you, but no, it really has been 80 years. Time is cruel.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 10 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I mean, it wasn't that long ago the the Simpsons represented the bottom of the middle class--a high-school educated father with a stable job (with dental plan) and a house, two cars, two kids, and a SAH wife.

Just a few years earlier Billy Joel was positively bitching "who needs a house out in Hackensack? Is that all you get for your money?" Like, yeah, that sounds pretty good relative to paying 60% of your income in rent, Anthony.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you're having trouble finding a job, have you tried just going into the company directly and asking? I'm sure they'd take one look at you and immediately see what an intelligent and capable person you are and hire you right away. /s

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I think you replied to the wrong comment, but yeah, this advice just keeps getting worse every decade.

[–] lukaro@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

Some conservatices can appear decent, but absolutly every last republican is a fucking asshole after too much taco bell.

They can’t afford food because they were born with silver spoons in their mouths. K.

[–] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 11 points 3 days ago

It doesn't have to make sense, it just has to make right wing boomers tut with disapproval as their biases are confirmed.

How can you hate your own kids?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

like the conservatives on WELFARE. or ms leavitt marries someone more twice her senior and supporting her. and then theres womans dating in red states, they were shocked that so many of them are living at home still with thier parents(from many accounts other platforms)

[–] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't think any of these assholes have ever had to dumpster dive for groceries before.

[–] decolo@piefed.social 22 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Had to? no ... but I am certain that RFK Jr has done it for fun

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not much raccoon penis in dumpsters, is there?

[–] decolo@piefed.social 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I have to admit I was assuming dumpsters contained maybe more dead animals than was realistic

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

rfk jr prefers FRESH roadkill. no doubt he has the urges to eat a crow once.

[–] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 days ago

Why would he need to dumpster dive when there's an abundance of roadkill to be found on his daily commute?

[–] bjorney@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah Gen Z just needs to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and find a 65 year old billionaire to marry

Bro reads lies from a teleprompter and calls it a real job. Is it comodity fetishism yet when you equate income with reality?

[–] Zannsolo@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I'm in my forties making nearly 200k and shit is too expensive

[–] Art3mis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Ive never in my life made more than 50k/yr and i have a good union job. I would probably literally kill for 200k/yr

[–] Zannsolo@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Houses here are 900k+ for a shitty house

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

same here. and rent pretty matches the hcol area too. ive only know a handful of people living in or outlying area in the city that had <1k/month rent, but that was 10 years ago and likely from knowing the landlords personally(before all the bs renting sites existed)

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

likely a tech job, and in a HCOL area, which most people are in tech anyways. or multi generational family home. bio jobs if you are lucky earn slighty more than you at the most(entry level) but with significant experience and schooling too, otherwise theres very little of these jobs out there without you having xyears of experience. health-bio fares better(depending on which industry you are going to that isnt nursing or MD, likely you wan to be a NURSE if you want that level of income in a hcol.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

sounds like HCOL, my bros who are in tech, when they had job before the layoffs had around if not more than 200k, and they couldnt justifying renting out. im nowhere near that income, too expensive to leave too. plus we also have the annoying property tax that the west coast is obsessed with adding to the expenses, they think they can indefinitely extract prop tax out of non-corporate landowners indefinitely. they should be targeting the BILLIONAIRES, hundred millionaires residing here. getting rid of nimbyism is a first step.

Oh, they'll go to war. Just not the one you think.

[–] Loce@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

We're calling it now a silver spoon? (trumps dick)

[–] rangber@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Something about stepping on your own group to get ahead, to be one of the boys, feels disgusting.
