Let's see the body cam footage.

[–] A404@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I dont think I could stomach it.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

You've seen cops before. Cmon.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I don't think anyone needs to see the body cam footage of a labradoodle in a knicks shirt running up to give people hugs and kisses before being shot by psychopaths?

Just look at the dog.

There is absolutely zero possible chance that animal was a threat to anyone.

Nobody is going to even try to say otherwise, anyone that does will not be taken seriously by anyone who is being honest.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Let me get this straight: it's cool to demand Buddy cam footage of cops killing humans, but not animals? Is that what you're saying? Because people can just like...not watch it. Just like they could not watch footage of any humans we've been seeing released.

Hands up, don't shoot! I can't breathe! No kings!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Huh?

Do you have a reading comprehension problem or are you just inventing something completely different to what I said to get mad about and then slapping a bunch of slogans on the end (one of which is just liberal) like it adds something?

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Nice ad hominem. Obviously the cops are saying the animal rushed them. Body cam will clear it up.

[–] Mr_Wobble@thelemmy.club 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You're taking the person you are replying to too literally. They were just saying that the dog is obviously a big sweet goofball by look and breed alone. They weren't saying that the cam footage literally should not be reviewed.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 2 months ago

I mean I've seen fluffballs that will eat your face and rotts, dobies, and pits that think they're lapdogs. But yes, tone doesn't always convey over the internet.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nice ad hominem

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 2 months ago

What is wrong with you? I'm not mad but you seem to have issues.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Every damn day law enforcement faces grave dangers to their life in the form of violent and aggressive criminals. You’re seriously telling me if that…thing came at you, full speed, you wouldn’t empty your fucking clip on it? LOL…I’m in absolute disbelief right now.

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

Do you… shoot every dog that walks towards you?

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (6 children)

You people are way too quick to assume police are violent for no reason, just because they're police. Maybe they were just big fans of the jazz or suns, and being cops was just incidental.

Cops aren't allowed to he smart, and idiots can get pretty heated about their local sports teams. Are cops not allowed to support the teams of cities they live in? This may be a case of dumb sports hooligan violence that happened to come from a cop, not police shooting a dog for no reason

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If your kneejerk reaction is to shoot something, you shpuld not have a gun.

A sixteen year old toilet cleaner at mcdonalds has seen worse shit than your average cop, and has better deescalation skills

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, cops basically never leave their cars, and its not as if they can just stay parked, so its not like they don't face real danger and real images of dismembered bodies and twisted metal in their jobs. I'm sure they have need of emergency services at least as often as that sixteen year old at McDonalds.

[–] toofpic@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Cops don't do anything bad because they sit in their cars" is the most idiotic thing I've seen in months

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I'm just saying cops probably have a disproportionate need for emergency services compared to the example; a 16 year old who cleans bathrooms.

Driving is really dangerous, guys.

No argument on the de-escalation skills.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

you haven't seen what people do to the toilets in mcdonalds

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

That's why they necessarily have deescalation skills.

”A celebration of the New York Knicks' NBA championship turned tragic on Saturday in Canoga Park when Los Angeles police officers responding to a call about a screaming woman shot and killed the family dog, authorities and witnesses said.”

First sentence of the article that you didn’t read before deep-throating the boot would tell you the whole story, the what, when, where, why, and how. One click, one sentence, a second or two to read.

I don't understand how I'm being disproven here. Nothing in that contradicts my conjecture.

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I don’t understand how you could read the article and then think your comment was relevant

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Look, LAPD officers can still be fans of the basketball teams from the city in which they live? Are we saying they cant? The Utah jazz and phoenix suns are lovely teams. Its fine if they can't, but as far as I'm aware; they are allowed.

And sports fans can get extremely violent after a rival team wins a game. It happens, and its a risk/cost we just accept as a society. The dog was wearing a Knicks jersey. Maybe if they didn't want their dog shot, they shouldn't have dressed her like that.

So it's possible this wasn't police violence, but non-police violence coming from a source that happened to ALSO be police.

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nobody was confused about what you said.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

At least six people got the joke. I'm so fucking disappointed in you people.

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Ah, it was a joke? I might’ve been confused about what you said! My bad, I missed it since it didn’t strike me as funny

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

Fuck you, learn to read.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 months ago

No way this isn’t bait.

[–] LePoisson@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

I know your comment is just some ridiculous ragebait because nobody is that dumb but ...

This may be a case of dumb sports hooligan violence that happened to come from a cop, not police shooting a dog for no reason

Those are the same thing.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

I'm not saying I care about those teams! I live in California!

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 0 points 2 months ago

Fuck you infinitely you bootlicker

[–] orlyowl@piefed.ca 0 points 2 months ago
[–] BoxedFenders@hexbear.net 0 points 2 months ago

That dog looks so happy in that photo. You can tell he was well loved by his family. God, what an utterly stupid and senseless tragedy.

[–] mortalblade@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I guess we should just arm our pets or something

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Just open fire as soon as you see a police officer - he's probably out to shoot either you or your pet.

There will never be a revolution in the US. Look at what you guys let the police do.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

we never had actual wars like europe, or eurasia did. that finally convinced the country its enogh. america is truley living in a bubble. also by designed people are kept complacent by high enough wage, SPORTS, and culture wars.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Also the utter lack of community, most people just don't socialize with anyone outside their house or work and even then it's mostly superficial, plus a shitty, hyper-individualist culture which exacerbates it.

We aren't a community of workers trying to ensure we all have enough, we are a country of individuals all trying to compete for what little scraps we can get our hands on that drop from the tables of the ruling class.

Hard to build a resistance effort when you don't trust your neighbors or your coworkers to be there for you when it counts.

[–] SocialistVibes01@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 months ago

utter lack of community

Yes, communism is utterly anti-USAmerican, everybody else is weirded out by these definitely broken human beings that have that weirdness normalized by propaganda since birth.

[–] SocialistVibes01@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 months ago

america

Ahem, USAmerica.

[–] Snailpick42@lemmus.org 0 points 2 months ago

cops spook easily in the US. dog was probably black.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 2 months ago

I watch bodycam vids on youtube because they're unscripted. People worrying about their dogs getting shot comes up enough to verify that the public (some subset) knows this happens. Goddamned cops. Poor dogs.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Cop was probably a Lakers fan.

To beat a bad guy with a gun you need a good boy with a gun.

Arm all pets. I see no downsides.
